| Really really hope not , for me still comfortably our best full back.
We already have injured/fragile halves be foolish to let him go.j

| Disagree on best fullback, gane is too limited and seems very injury prone, I can what you ate saying about the halfbacks, but have Wynne, Litten, Mcintosh who could play fullback and McNamara and Hookem to cover halfback.
If someone wants him I'd let him go, get a big chunk off our cap to make a mid season signing.

You are supposing he is vaccinated, because like any other player he is useless at either French club if he isn't.

| I'd stick Shaul at stand off. He'll give us more than those two Grandads we currently have employed in our half positions. Let Gale control and let Shaul run. Connor producuces the magic passing play at the end of it. It's a trio that should ask the right questions of any defence.
I do hope Reynolds can prove me wrong but he looked finished last season to me.

You want to play someone at 6 who can't pass or kick?
I wasn't really impressed that much much with Reynolds last year, but he is miles ahead of Shaul as a halfback.

Shaul's strength is running. He can run like roadrunner. Just let him play loose and support in the way Shaun Edwards and Danny Mcguire in his younger days did. His speed of running in the open space will do the rest. He's the best running player we have.

| Shaul's days of being a first choice player are done in my opinion.
I mentioned it on another thread, Sneyd took alot of flack for our poor attack but Shaul is just as much to blame.
Dave K is right. He's too limited with the ball to be a full back. He ends up taking space away instead of creating it.
He's a back up winger now.

A six really does need to be able to pass, might as well put Swift there if we only want someone who can run.
Mcguire and Edward's had alot more to their game than running, look at the best stand offs in the league, Lomax, Truman, Seizer, they can all do alot more than run.
Surley ou have to wonder why no coaches have ever tried Shaul at 6?

If Tarquin couldn't, I'd say it's nigh on impossible.

Shaul brings pace moments of brilliance and support play
Connor is good but how many interceptions did he give last season including a match losing semi final to grace
And of course Connor getting done for pace by farrell and the cas winger
Yet weirdly people ignore the Connor flaws

Think he threw 2 that lead to tries. Grace and Kershaw.
He finished the season with 20 plus assists. If Shaul ever got more than 10 assist in 1 season I'd be surprised.

A bit like Sneyd those moments of brilliance where 2017.
I also remember Shaul getting done for pace by Ben Currie in the 2016 cup final.
Both have flaws but Connor is streets ahead of Shaul.

I think for player and club this would be a good move for both in a sporting sense. However Shaul has a young family so it would mean either uprooting his family or spending a long time away from his family which may not be an attractive option.

Talk of a 3 year deal which might be too good to turn down.
Good move for both parties, gives him the chance to play full bsck in SL and get us a good chunk of salary cap to play with.
It's a salary cap game and you can't have a back up player on a big salary, who is past their best and have been very injury prone of late.

Don't disagree Dave as you say a 3yr deal may just be too good to turn down though the subject of relegation I imagine will also have a bearing on that as they are currently favourites for the drop.
As a club we are effectively going to be carrying a player that still has a contract as there doesn't seem many opportunties at the club for him. So for a player at the other end of their career you'd think the chance to play regular in your favoured spot would be a serious consideration but the flip side is he has a young family which makes these decisions more complicated.
I like Shaul and thinks he's been a good player for us but time moves on and in a salary capped sport sentiment has no place thats the harsh reality. Which Hull FC have for far too long been guilty of being too sentimental.

| I think the opportunity to take a young family to the South Of France is too good a chance to miss. If they get relegated he'll get picked up by someone else. I'd try and load a 2 year deal and go and enjoy the culture and the lifestyle. Perfect chance if his family are happy with it.
Also perfect for us to offload a good earner and save some cap. Win Win for me for both parties.

| I’ve always liked Jamie.
With limited opportunities and Adam’s disclosure of the financial hit we’ve taken due to Covid, I think this deal will happen.
Regardless, Jamie will always be one of our Wembley Winning Legends!

Think the club would be keen to move him on and free some money but when i look at our injury prone half backs its inevitable we will have to move Connor into half back several times during the season as McNamara just doesnt have the experience or look a prospect in that position.
I know we have two young guys in the reserves but Shaul is still a very good full back and has what Connor doesnt and thats pace.

Big question mark over Hampshire and his vaccination status it think. Would the club want to bring someone in who could potentially miss a chunk of the season. Playing and versatility wise it makes great sense though

the ex Wigan , Cas and Wakefield player. Do they really think he’d improve our back line at the expense of Shaul.
