I notice on the Hull FC website there are 6 players in the squad from Doncaster for the match at Wakefield.
I have to ask myself WHY?
I thought the idea was to give our players game time.For example no Abdul who hasnt played for two or three weeks or even Yeaman.Probably several others.

They may play for Donny at weekend against North Wales Crusaders on Dual Registration. I think at least Yeamo will!

Hull FC play their first U23 reserve fixture against Wakefield tomorrow in their one and only friendly before the season kick off versus Warrington next Sunday.

Coach Richard Horne has named a strong squad, with Super League experience in abundance.

Naughton and Lancaster have 18 first grade tries between them, with forwards such as Chris Green closing in on 50 first grade appearances.

In total 11 members of Horne’s U19 squad from last season will feature, with current City of Hull members such as Brad Clavering and Jack Sanderson selected.

Last years Super 8s starlets are all included, with the eye on starting hooker Jez Litten after DannyHoughton’s comments in the Hull Daily Mail this week.

Meanwhile Wakefield have opted to play some of their more recognisable stars with former Hull FC employees Craig Hall and Jordan Tansey getting the opportunity for some much needed game time.

There is also a place for Richard Owen in what will be his first outing since a horrific broken leg.

There are six players from Doncaster in the Hull FC reserve squad, with Jordan Abdull and Kirk Yeaman set to play for the South Yorkshire side on dual registration this coming Sunday.

Kick off is 1:30 tomorrow, with tickets priced at £3 adults and £1 concession.

Sounds a bit complicated but if everyone's getting appropriate gametime and development that's a good thing.

We were always gonna be using donny players. This 23 comp for us is more about bumping 19s lads up and fast tracking them. We'll be trying to get a lot of the genuine 1st team fringe players loans and duel games to keep them at a higher level as well.

Early days obviously but looks a handy concept. Players like Naughton, Hadley and Green (who was excellent) get gametime and the younger ones get a physicality test and to play vs the likes of Craig Hall, Jordan Tansey etc.

It was always going to be a joint initiative between yourselves and Donny. Both sides fringe players will get a competitive run out and it will keep the costs down.

Didnt know that as we fans have never been informed by the club it would be a joint Doncaster HFC team that takes the field.

A bit. But mostly an outlet to fast track our own. Bump 19s up a notch and use donny player to fill gaps when we can get our fringe players at champs clubs
Donny are still our duel reg so we can use them and them us for our own needs

The COH academy played midweek and the first team play on Thursday. Today gave Naughton, Green, Hadley, Lancaster, Dean, Matongo, Turgut, Downs, Litten, Fash, Osborne gametime. Abdull and Yeaman play on duel registration for Doncaster tomorrow. I'm struggling to see a downside tbh.

I am not saying there is a downside to getting game time.
I thought The idea of the Under 23 comp was to have something more competitive than Champ 1 yet it seems Abdul and Yeaman are playing at Doncaster ( not seen anything confirmed by the club only the HDM)

Cant see the point of sending Abdul to Doncaster as he is possibly the first team replacement for Pryce and would get more benefit playing 6 at Wakefield using the first team plays and playing with our players ready to step up to the first team.

Apart from Feka, surely under the new set-up that's exactly what's happening, and it means players who under the previous seasons regime were at risk of being in no man's land an opportunity to step up in a format that could be better for keeping players within the club's systems and structures. There has to be some sort of reciprocity with our partner club Doncaster here. They help us with players to supplement a 17, maybe they agree a couple of players they think can help their campaign in Championship 1 on an ad hoc basis, and this could be agreed with Radford in advance for all we know. Maybe Abdul playing at Doncaster for a week is seen as equally valuable to his development as partnering Dean in the 23s. Overall we're running with a bigger squad to help more players have the opportunity of staying with the club and making the first team. We seem to be giving the vast majority a chance to play. It seems quite a positive thing to me.
