Today the forwards lost the battle for me. For the first time in years Rover looked a look better in the forwards making at least 10 meters with the majority of carries. Micky P has been quality but went missing tonight, same with Carvell. Did well to have just one point in it.

Another close loss and the 2 big issues with our season - goalkicking and the right hand side defence continue to require attention.

Agree, the two starting props were really disappointing, although thought Watts and Bowden went ok. I thought the penalty against Bowden that ultimately cost us the game was a little harsh.

We missed Heremaia, but obviously the toothless one never get's it wrong.

Carvell Paea Ellis and Westerman were poor and couldn't deal with the skinny 10 that was in play. The halves kicking was garbage on top of that. Watts was the best prop for hull.

Did the one-pointer definitely go between the uprights and above the cross-bar

I didn't think there was that much in the forward battle and it swung one way then the other at different times. Main difference for me was our near non existent half backs, lack of kicking game and poor last tackle options. Agree that the failure to police the 10 metre rule favoured rovers but they had more energy than us and deserved the win. Think it would have been a different game with feka and heremaia in the 17

Not sure about that I thought we were slow in out defensive line in comparison to them. Or best forwards from last week didn't turn up really. Agree about halves they struggled from minute one and the kicking in particular was garbage.

Think Rankin showed one or two sparks but Miller was non-existent and neither of them put in a decent kick all night.

Some of the younger forwards put some effort in and Ellis worked hard in the first half but overall the pack was poor.

Absolutely, however I'm sure I'm not the only one who is getting fed up that we have a lose a game before we can win one.

Though Rankin was okay, good first try, and the pass to Shaul. If Shaul had scored I think the game would have gone another way.

I don;t think the forwards played particularly well but we didn't seem to struggle to make metres most of the time and defensively it was our edges which struggled, not the centre. When I see the stats they may tell a different story but 4 tries apiece and a loss by a last minute drop goal doesn't smack of a team who's forwards have been dominated

Feka would of been even more impotent than carvel and paea due to the flatness we played with and lack of speed from the play of the ball. Watts our best prop mainly due to when he used footwork to compensate for lack of quality momentum ball. Aaron may of made a difference but Danny went well and Aaron never did much in the last few games!

Not been mentioned but thought Dean Hadley put in another good stint.

agree about Watts. His footwork was useful due to the onrushing defence. Pity we didn't see much footwork from the halves to exploit in the same way. The one time Rankin did exactly that he scored.

thought watts and bowden where our best forwards, ellis defended well but we had no real go forward

Weyman was far and away the best prop on show last night.
