He would obviously be a fantastic signing but I would worry about not being able to fill the holes in our squad with what was left. Stand off, right centre and one or two or props should be a massive priority.

Yes, probably a good option but we might need to replace Moa and O'Meley as well. A SO and a centre are real priorities for next season though and quality/expensive ones at that. Surely the potential signing of Ellis would leave us with virtually nothing left.

And probably two or three props. I'd worry about us signing Ellis from a salary cap point of view. If he'll demand as much as people seem to think, it could leave us rather unbalanced. In all honesty, I would be happier with someone like Whitehead - not quite as good, but a lot cheaper and a lot younger.

Ellis is world class and would be a sensational signing for a number of reasons. It would be a real signal of intent.

I hear what people are saying about strengthening other positions but it goes without saying that Ellis would improve us and it's great to hear we are amongst the front runners for his signature.

Exactly. Any world class player should be welcomed in. If Hull want to be back at the top it's the Ellis type players that need to be playing for us and not against us. Leeds must be favourites but it's good to see us in there giving it a shot.

How could I answer about the cap ? Like you I don't know who is on what, who is staying, who is definitely going ? etc. etc. Why wouldn't we have room on the cap but Leeds, for example, would ? There are a handful of English world class players in world RL and he is one of them. This calibre of player is not ten a penny and doesn't become available very often.

I could turn your perfectly fair questions around and ask how many other world class players will become available for 2013 in the positions where we supposedly need to strengthen ? Maybe a few - maybe none at all. We know Ellis is available and I'm glad we're in for him. With a house in Wetherby and previous at Leeds he'll likely finish up there.

World class player but i'd rather strengthen other areas. Prop, centre and SO are the key areas for me.
