OK, I'm sick of buying cheapo toasters that either give up the ghost after a few months or turn the toast into a dried up inedible piece of cardboard, so I'm looking for some recommendations. I'm even considering one of those ridiculously priced dualit ones.

And don't suggest the grill on my oven as that's just as bad for dried up toast

My £10 quid one from wilkos is still going strong after 2 years, top toasting!

423/6911 from Argos, combine it with an uncut Tesco Tiger loaf,butter and marmalade of your choice and you will be in toast heaven.

Dualit are not that great anymore to be honest but you can replace the elements for a price when you need to replace them.

We do alot of Dualit repairs and sadly they are not as good as they once were. Advantage is that Dualit are repairable as opposed to the cheaper options that are throw away.

Their conveyor ones however are much better but well over budget for domestic use.

doesn't look like you'll have much joy from a quick look I have just done, if Duallit are no longer as good then maybe the Breville one is a better bet.

There's no need to get rid of your toaster. All you need to do is appoint a Director of Toasting and it'll work just fine.

How about the Agar toasters?

There cheap, don’t set your bread on fire, and last for ages.

I think we need pictures to compare. This is my toaster, swapped from work for my old one when the one at work was condemned:

Works perfectly well, despite the electrician cutting it's plug off (just before MY lunch hour, of course

) although occasionally you have to turn the bread around to ensure even coverage of toastiness.

I love it 'cos it's a clockworky type thing with manual lever for up and down movement of the toast. I like basic mechanical things.
