| just been thinking and looking back at some threads from the back end of last season and the preseason, well as everyone knows we have had 2 realy bad years for whatever reasons, wether it been through injuries, visa issues, bad apples, lack of interest from certain players, players not good enough, rich agar been appointed coachill put that as a lot of people have never believed he was the right man for the job and probably still dont, ive given my opinions on him and so have others, wasnt long ago we were all on suicide watch lol and people were talking about not renewing there passes, how things have changed,i remember the brother wasnt a big fan of agar but he has spoke to him on a few occasions now and believes hes grown in stature and that he came across very well at the forum.
well we cant posibly argue with the players agar has released and the players brought in,plus hes brought in a very good assistant coach.
I know a lot of people wasnt fussed with us signing long at the time but everyone is buzzing now it looks like he could become a big fav of the fans and i firmly believe we have now replaced cookie, also with tansey we have replaced briscoe,we have got a great pack with the tongan mafia, and to be honest the backs arent to shabby either,if the players can stay fit and healthy then who knows what could happen.
The buzz that has come from the club in recent weeks is very encouraging to us fans, merchandice at the club has gone through the roof which we have to give lee jenks a lot of credit for, plus 2 great shirts for the new season, season pass sales are booming too,we have had one fans forum which was a sell out and some very encouraging things came out of it,the one in january has sold out aswel, all this proves to me that we will allways stick by our club through the good and the bad times.
Ive been to a sponsors evening at the kc just recently were we got a chance to see the players train plus they all came over to everyones tables during the night and chatted with the fans, ive also noticed just lately with the events that have been going on the players have been great with the fans too, im sure everyone is realy looking forward to the new season as i am,
Lets put the past behind us and think of the future, get behind rich and the lads and cheer them on to great things in 2010.

| Great post and echo all virtually all that. Big raps again to Lee Jenkinson who does an utterly brilliant job with the retail operation. Let's not forget James Rule in all this either as we're quick enough to bollock him when things go wrong. 6 months ago many were talking (quite rightly) about not renewing, so to be in a place where season pass sales are up year on year at this point, the team is all together in full training, there are more players events than I can remember, we have 3 marquee signings in place and it looks like we've turned in another year's profit is a huge credit to the board.
I have no expectations as such of us on the pitch in 2010, but can rarely remember looking forward to a season as much. Bring it on!

| bored does not quite sum it up though. I am now way past bored, however not bored enough to contemplate watching football.
I can distract myself with the darts for the next couple of weeks at least.
As for the topic the whole team start with a clean slate. I am still not a fan of Agar (although i was not overly dissapointed with his appointment) but i am hoping to eat humble pie next year.
31/32 sleeps till pre season friendlies woohoo

| I have never been a Massive Agar fan ,and was one of those seriously considering not renewing pass and picking and choosing games.
However with the offload of the dross and the signings announced ,Im like a kid waiting for Santa.Think one of Agars most astute signing could turn out to be Mr Moore, appears his knowledge of the game is second to none ,and is held in high regard by his peers.
So from not being sure about buying a pass ,Im now looking forward to the new season with some optimism.
Mind you on a more cautious note ,I was also optimistic for the last two years as well.

My view is that we do look stronger than last season. I expect us to be challenging somewhere 5th to 8th. I hope Dennis introduces the concept of game plans and countering what the opposition might do. We don't have enough cover in the backs. TBH, if agar can be kept away from the playing side of things it may be a half decent season.
Still think 2011 is our big opportunity given all of the players OOC at the end of 2010, just hope there's a decent coach in place to take advantage of it
I think realism rather than blind optimism is the order of the day

| Good post Wolfie!
From a recruitment perspective Agar has done an excellent job and along with the players who have gone out he has put together a really strong looking squad. I hope the arrival of the new assistant coach will give us a better edge when it comes to tactics etc and will bring fresh ideas to the side. Fitzgibbon and Long should bring extra professionalism to the side and certainly more structure and organisation.
I still have doubts about Agar's ability to make the right calls when it comes to players selections, he will have to make tough calls this year and not always go with his favourites and that remains to be seen if he can do that.
If we don't suffer massive injuries and we get our gameplan right then we could easily be challenging for the top 4. The playoff's have to be our minimum aim.
All in all I am positive about the coming season, having seen the shirts up close I hate the away shirt, it looks and feels awful. The home shirt however is imo one of our best ever, looks great and the material feels excellent too and with the additional merchandise we have on offer now the off field side of things continue to go from strength to strength.
Here's to a great 2010 on the field!!

| I am cautiously optimistic as ever at this time of pre-season. The club is as sound as it can be in these times off the field and on it I believe the Head Coach has restructured well in terms of playing and coaching staff. The fact that we are all training in Nov/Dec with no late comers can only strengthen our chances at the beginning of the season. I hope that lessons have been learned with regard to match tactics, particularly interchanges. I really hope that we get some luck with injuries as this alone has been the single biggest factor weighing against us and the coaches, players and fans deserve a decent crack of the whip in that respect, particularly Agar who as a young coach learning his way has had more than his fair share to deal with.
Looking at the first 8 games we need to win 6 of them. If we win fewer than 4 I think Agar will be told to leave. I for one am certainly hoping this doesn't happen as stability is important but obviously if things don't go right it has to be changed. He knows this and has said as much on more than one occasion. If we are reasonably successful I'm sure some will claim it's all down to Dennis Moore and the new players. That would be pretty disingenuous if those same people were blaming Agar last year although there is some evidence of position hedgeing already on this board . You cant really blame the coach when things are crap and then ignore his input when things go well. Anyway I don't think he has many defeats left before he's gone that's for sure.
So to the players I hope that Long and Horne/Tansey can strike up a consistent injury free partnership for 80% of the season. Over on the dark side I believe their key attribute last season was to keep the same 2 [irecognised[/i half backs on the pitch for most of the season (and in training too). For us I think this is crucial. I think we will have one of the best forward packs in the league and I hope that at long last the forwards in particular decide to make home games difficult and unwelcoming for the opposition. We've been rolled over far too easy at home in the last 2 years and it's time that the team, with the Faithful behind them, start to perform like the home team at the KC.
So can't wait 'til Horney's game. What will be will be. We are due a CC final appearance as we missed out last year. Keep the injuries away and we have the players to re establish our presence in the league and become a force again.
Come On You 'Ulllaaaa.

| Can't wait to get to Saints. I can't remember the last time that I was looking forward so much to the start of the season (probably (1983-840).
Recruitment/retention has been excellent, Dennis Moore could be a fantastic addition to our staff, money is rolling in from everywhere and there seems to be a genuine buzz and optimism about the place. all we need now is for RA to prove to us all that he is a fantastic coach afterall !!!

| When things don't go right fans are quick enough to shoot the board, the coach, the players, everything. Now admittedley i thought Agar should have been given the chop during last years dreadful season. But through out everything the board stuck to their guns and said he was the man for the job. The easiest thing for that board to do was sack him. Whether it was or wasnt the right thing to do to keep him on remains to be seen. But one thing i will say is every player says richard agar was the real reason they came to the club, whether that is just a early case of brown nosing im not sure.
The point im trying to get across is like wolfie i think the time is right for the players to perform, this is well and truely agars squad now. we stuck with him, and some say stability is the key, every coach likes his own squad and this is agars time to start compeeting week in week out.

Tbh mate i cant think of one single person on this forum that was prepared to give rich a chance next season,i guess they have a right not to after looking at his record since taking over,ok everyone knows i speak to him but hes just a normal guy whos no different to anyone else, i believe he deserved a chance to prove people wrong and yes i know its been done to death about it not been his own squad and stuff but i firmly believe it will be proven right, seems to me as the club ie james rule has a lot of support for him and believe hes the right guy for the job,im sure people opinions have changed about him especialy the ones who went to the fans forum, he came across very well and when he put things on the slide show to let people see the problems he had to deal with it certainly hit home to many fans, the injury crisis that he put on the big screen looked like it had been invaded with a load of ants
lets just get behind rich and the boys for 2010,if we have a bit of look with no injuries we could be seeing a bit of silverware back at the club.
