Is apparently available if/when Souths sign Crocker. He started as a scrum half but plays stand off and hooker too. Worth a punt?

His name's come up before but folk who follow the NRL have said that he's not the type of half we need IIRC.

no chance im afraid, as he is on mega-bucks at souths. granted he's lost alot of cash investing his money in property in vanuatu but i cant see him over in the uk just yet...end of season maybe... but if he came available then he would defo be worth a punt....had afew shoulder injuries of late, due to a "chicken wing" tackle in the very first game of the season dislocated his shoulder...but class all the same

On recent form...I would take him. on the back that I dont think crocker will come.
He has got Souths outta troble a few times this season according to their forum....Definatley a better Halfback option than current!

That usually means he'll end up elsewhere in SL and he'll be exactly what we need.

Wing for me has always been an impact dummy half runner, like Roby/Higham but far better quality. I always thought he was superb at what he did but I am not sure how he fits in with us. He can do a job at 7 and will be better than what we have but I am not sure he is our answer to the SH problem.

I think he started as a hooker, virtually played his whole career there while at Roosters although has played a little in the half back roles while at Roosters. I know he plays more at SO/HB now at Souths but I don't think we should look to sign him.

I agree to some extent but he can definitely play a bit of football as well as scooting. I'd argue that we need a 6 and a 7 so he'd be ideal alongside a full on distributor. My only gripe is his age, as I'm not keen on us signing 30 or 30+ year olds.

I take your point about him being okay at 6/7 but I personally would not sign him unless we needed a hooker, which we don't.

Everyone seems like they want Orford but surely someone with a few less miles on the clock would be better. I think we need a long term fix rather than a couple of years. Isn't he 31 now?

they have been using him off the bench with and playing him at hooker mainly. John Sutton plays 5/8th, Chris Sandow scrum half and Isaac Luke hooker. so he does seem to be out of favour at the moment with them 3 players in some good form.

Finch is 26 - 27 but I would imagine he would only be over here for 2 - 3 years max then would look to go back home.
I can't really think of anyone good enough over here who we should be looking at.

Many on here seem to think there are huge numbers of world class scrum halves sat by the phone waiting for James Rule to call. Given that, apart from Burrow who's on a 15 year deal or something at Leeds, SHs in Super League are pretty average, and I don't follow the NRL closely, could someone provide a list of these off contract, world class scrum halves so we can pick a top 5 that we'd like to get here. Players who are hookers but can play SH a bit should not be included as we already have one of those. Thanks.

If we are signing a halfback who's around the 30 mark, I'd like us to also invest in a young halfback such as Ben Black at Halifax, or Aaron Groom at Sheffield. Obviously I'd love Myler but I don't think there's much chance of that!

Would people be happy with a young half back who has missed 41 tackles in just 5 games?

Was a fantastic hooker 4 or 5 years ago and was one of the best players in the world but havent seen or heard much about him last 2 years and would command a big salary and we already have Berrigan so its pointless signing him
