Was one of the better places to play in it's day as well. Nice hot shower after the game and a straight into the clubhouse.

| My wife's Grandmother had the sandwich shop on the corner of Chamberlain Rd for donkey's years; Gramps played for your lot too and latterly, worked at Reckitts.
Not especially relevant, but Hull vs Wakey games are very divisive in our house; no 1 son wears scarves from both teams, in an attempt to demonstrate lack of bias towards either parent.

Nothing to do with Pearson and if anyone is booting off anyone off it was the owner of Hull Brewery who bought the land for the sole purpose of redevelopment who one by one, threw off the rugby, cricket and football teams so he could claim the land was no longer used for sport so it could be developed.
What people don't realise is the sports pitches have only been given usage for 5 years so after that time I fully expect Barratts to chuck off who is on there and put up more houses.
Hull FC's input was to be kind of "caretaker" to the youth rugby, no actual involvement as such as far as I'm aware.
This hasn't got full planning permission yet, only outline, Barratts still have to gain permission for access yet and that could be a problem.

Hopefully there will be another campaign, led very well last year by Serge at the P.O.,
to oppose any newly submitted plans. It will make life along Chamberlain Road intolerable with extra traffic. There are just not the facilities to cope with the extra residents.
Unfortunately this was on the cards as soon as the Council changed hands, I think we are being 'punished' for electing a Lib Dem Councillor in previous elections!

A friend of mine spoke to Serj last night and he is launching a new campaign around the access road which Barratts haven't been given permission for yet. From what I remember Barratts want to keep the single lane dirt track road that is there at the moment which for 100 houses and sports pitches is unacceptable for the level of traffic.
Greed is the problem here. Serj has had the land surveyed and valued at £300k which he is willing, along with a consortium, to put up that money and develop the whole land back to sports pitches, exactly how it used to be, but Barratts have offered the owner of Hull Brewery a lot more than 300k.
The land also comes with a covernant on it, put in place by James Reckitt to say it has to be used for recreation, so the sports pitches on a quater of the land for 5 years is just a tolken so Barratts can say they have complied.

| Not actually seen detailed plans, but if Barratts aren't using the Chamberlain Road side off the site for access, leaving the 'dirt track', they would have to think of using Woodhall street and Ashendon Close, so i hope those residents get behind any opposition as well.
If it does go ahead will the people buying the new housing be warned about the proposed 'composting' development at Foster Street?
it explains why the Council were so keen to make Rockford Field a 'Nature Reserve', knowing we would lose Reckitt's.

I actually quoted a figure from the HDM online article which stated that Mr Singh had had the land valued at £300k but Barratts have offered the owner of Hull Brewery millions for it.
Oddly enough that quote has now disappeared from the online article and in its place "Mr Singh has called for the land's private owners to reconsider an offer put forward by a syndicate of investors he was involved with who wanted to retain the whole of the site for sporting use."

that is what I am trying to find out, people are objecting but not detailing why, which is often the case, if people have genuine concerns then fair enough, but if some local wannabe is making waves for self-purpose and people are getting caught in the tide then there is no genuine reason to have blocked the development.

| I think the main objection is the increase in traffic down Chamberlain road, which to be fair is busy enough already.

I haven't put the reasons why I wrote to the Council to object on this thread because the thread isn't about objections but would Hull FC be still involved. I can list the reasons if you really want me to but I assume (rightly or wrongly) that you don't live around here and know the area, Foredyke Stream cycle track, Pennine Cycle Trail, the owner of Brooklands as well as those that do so you probably aren't interested one way or another if Barratts build houses or not. Not having a dig, just don't feel the need to justify myself on here

so, the building of houses is going to close those access routes, or is it going to just cause them to be rationalised and specified.
when making objections to anything you should, as a matter of course, expect to have those objections questioned, it is how planning works. Wether I live in the area or not is irrelevant, I am entitled to an opinion, and that opinion is that, as yet, I haven't seen a single valid, justified and evidenced objection to the development.

If you want to see my list of objections (and those of 500 others) than they are all documented at the Planning Office at Kingston House, Bond Street for the public to see.

so, in effect, you're either saying that they don't really stand up to scrutiny (hence not posting them on here) or that I have no right of opinion as I can't get to Bond Street?

Standee, with all due respect there is only one reason and one reason alone you want to know my objections and that is to rip it to shreads and I am not getting into that with you. I have not posted them on here because it would be thread drift, the thread is about whether Hull FC will still be involved now the plans have been given the go ahead, plain and simple. I'll debate that with you till the cows come home but not about why I objected to something in a city that you don't even live in.

so, you are admitting that your objections are sentimental and not based on reality, that is fine, and not unusual.
the insular nature of Hull and some of it's folk is quite laughable, I am genuinely interested in the objections that people have, but I doubt very much they go beyond nimbyism and whistful memories, and if they do, then I'll agree and applaud.
It's 2012, maybe some people need a reality check?

I am not admitting anything - I have valid and reasonable objections. The one bit of information I will give you is that my objections were exactly the same as the other 500 objections, yes I did look through them. If you knew the area you would know the objections because they are quite obvious.
I find it quite laughable that you can put words into my mouth and tell me my objections were sentimental - if you are so desperate to find out what me and the other 500 objectors objected to then go and find out for yourself, the information is there in the public domain.
