Whilst we scored a good few points yesterday I was a bit dissapointed with some of the errors we made. I'd imagine our completion rate was terrible. It was difficult to get any meaningful feedback from the game as Widnes were so poor at times it felt like a CC 4th round game against lower league opposition. Still it's another 2 points in the bag.

Anyone know how Shaun Briscoe is?

He was OK after the game apparently - walking around in changing rooms fine.

I thought we were pretty good all round. Last 20 minutes was a bit disappointing but some good tries were scored. Widnes will struggle but beat Wigan last week. We absolutely crushed them up front and played off the back of that which is pretty much how the better teams in the league dominate the lesser ones on a weekly basis and get lauded for scoring 800 points+ a season.

The only reason we didnt hit 80 yesterday was due to the long delay from the Briscoe injury. It just took away all our momentum and you could tell we were going through the motions once it was restarted plus Widnes probably set themselves a mini goal to win the last 15 mins.

Alive and well on Twitter. Apparently he has a bad headache and a large lump to add to the collection on his head but otherwise fine.

It's understandable really, when you are that far in front you try things you normally wouldn't and force that extra pass. Hard to remain focussed at 58-0 up especially when there has been a long stoppage too. Gentle called it all spot on in his interview.

hull also knew they could chance their arm a bit in attack, and widnes wouldn't have anything in their armoury to hurt them. against bigger teams they will tighten up accordingly

He also tweeted that some bell in the east stand was screaming abuse at him all match.

I find it incredible after we slaughter a team so comprehensively that anyone can find anything to whine about TBH

I wouldn't say people are whining just making observations that towards the end of the game after a long stoppage we switched off a bit and got a bit sloppy.

Yes the moron in the east stand sits in front of me, he is with the group of lasses who never shut up when tickle is kicking at goal.

Anyway back to discussing the game..... How shockingly bad is Widnes' defense? The Lynch try was just embaressing.

We won confortably, but playing for 60 minutes doesn't constitute slaughtering a team. I said to the Mrs that if we'd had played like that against a better like Leeds (for example) and switched off like we did, we might have lost. That would have given people something to whine about

I think we pretty much slaughtered them tbh. And had we been playing against a better team we just might not have slowed the pace like we did.

It ended up being little more than a glorified training session and I'm more than confident that against a better side we would not have switched off like we did.

absolutely bang on there karen, and like against saints we played for the full 80 like you say, however approx 60/65 mins we slowed down and coasted because the SLAUGHTERING we had handed out had given us a massive score to enable that, better still no injuries we didnt already know about

As soon as you stop seeing room for improvement you'll stop improving. I doubt there's anybody who isn't extremely happy about yesterday apart from Sebasteeno, but that doesn't mean it was a flawless performance or that we should pretend it was just because of the scoreline.

There has never been a flawless performance ever... but when you score over 50 points and have until you switch off nilled a team but not only nilled them almost permanently played a match in their half well my friend in almost everyone i sat neras book it was as close as you will get to a serious balls and all drubbing a team could hand out but agreed not flawless....

Yep thats them sit opposite us and really are a pain . The idiot was really hurling some abuse at Briscoe and thought he was funny !!

Main highlight for me yesterday was Wade McKinnon, the man is so classy in attack and calm in defence.
I particularly noticed him talking to Manu in back play and pointing to an area of the opposition - next play the ball Manu breezed through to score there.

For me once the game got under way with the first break by Turner things looked like they could well be hard for Widnes.

I was happy with the fact the team for once actually put a score on a team we were expected to beat comfortably where as in the past we would have struggled and flattered to deceive.
I would have prefered to seen them continue for the full 80 but after the stoppage for Briscoe the game was more than way out of sight for Widnes so inevitably the foot came off the gas. Then once the chance of nilling them had gone we slipped a little further off the pedal.

Had we been playing a game against a stronger team and the score line been closer I doubt very much they would have dropped the intensity or took the foot off the gas, so no worries there.

There's the rub. The fact we were in a position where it did not cost us doesn't make the fact that we switched off acceptable. Yes, I understand why, and we definitely did give them a hammering, but it's still something I'd like to see us eradicate.

Even Gentle picked up on that point and said he would be looking at working on that. He sounded more disappointed on that fact than he seemed to let on in the interview too and he said still work to do.
