|
FWIW money into a club is the tip of the iceberg. There is only circa £2 million to spend on cap and the less desirable clubs ie bottom half have to spend heavy to get their man. Jamie Peacock told me that his time at Leeds no player will be paid in excess of £100k and as they were winning this wasn't an issue to him signing. Jordan Abdull is on significantly more than that now as he was at Rovers. The younger players don't count on cap and your 2 marquee players cost £150k. Where money helps is the excess fees over marquee players. Asiata on £240k means only £150k counts on cap so the money men help with the difference. Attracting players is the hard bit. Rovers attempt to sign Dupree highlights money doesn't talk. He agreed a deal for 4 years at £145k and signed for Wigan for 3 years at £130k due to prospects. Hulls attempt to sign Lee Briers was outrages yet he choses a different club on less money. All figures quoted are known.[/quote:3abvp1o8]
Think your post has a lot of holes in actual facts
And you know the Abdull is on significantly more how? I assume you must have been in on the deal or Abdull himself has called you to tell you?
As for Dupree what we do know of the actual facts, both Rovers and Wigan offered Salford money for him with Wigan offering more, both offers were refused. He then agreed a contract extension at Salford, an undisclosed fee was then subsequently agreed with Wigan and he signed a 4 year deal, not 3 as you state, so whatever Dupree may or may not have agreed before Salford even sold him to any club matters not one jot.
There's no question that Hull were and still are behind the top clubs to an extent in terms of being an attractive proposition in the here and now. Had Pearson still been the owner that scenario likely wouldn't have improved, however the new ownership and the significant financial backing Hull FC now have, will have changed the landscape significantly moving forward for the club.

|
Turns out the third round draw is next Tuesday at 6pm on the BBC iPlayer. Not only before round two takes place but the bad weather means some first round games will also not have happened so it could end up A or B or C or D v Hull FC.[/quote:3ua41o4y]
If it's a choice of 4 teams at least we can play a game of, which away team do we wanna go too the most? :D
Let's hope this season lasts a little longer than April.
Well, we can dream I suppose, or get knocked out in the 3rd round by a lower division club and we can say our season is over by the 9th of February. :P
