Interesting point making it an East v West thing but I think having the teams defined as Yorkshire and Lancashire would be more appealing to fans. Not simply because I think fans and players would prefer to represent 'Yorkshire' than 'Super League East' but its something that has been done in the past that older fans will perhaps remember fondly and newer fans that haven't seen it (such as myself) could be introduced to.
Fair enough you, and many others, like the whole magic weekend but I would be much more excited about a War of the Roses match
As you've said it would take time, the England v Exiles was an idea that sounded good in theory but in practice didn't catch on and has seemingly been scrapped, think it would be worth giving it a go
