We have blooded some great youngsters. More than Agar under Kaff ever did. That is a positive. Crooks, Lineham, Shaul, Green developing well. But that for me is the end of the positives.
Gentle promised the difference between good and bad would be less. Well this season has seen us beat Wire away and on neutral ground. We have had good runs of victories, some fortuitous (Magic weekend) some excellent.
We got to Wembley with two of the best guttsy performances we have seen for a while. Cats away was good, Wire in the semi was good. But its the dross that glosses over all of that.
We fail to execute the basics. Basics like running, passing and catching. These should be bread and butter stuff to full time pros. I could handle those if we played like Wire, a good expansive entertaining style of rugby, but we don't. We have gone way back to basics, because the personel we have are incapable of anything expansive.
I really could go on.
But....
A three year plan should have us feeling that a few rough spots can be ironed out and we will be close to the real deal in 2014. Can you see that happening. Even when I take away the raw emotion of last night, I can not see anything other than a postion between 10th and 6th next year.
After almost 4 decades of supporting the club, I have seen highs and many many lows, but patience when its costing a fortune to watch and follow the club is something I am running out of. The masterplan in my honest opinion is way off track.'"
Absolutely spot on!! I've emailed AP this morning, along the same lines. The thing that is the most frustrating for me is that we struggle on the basics, we are not capable of passing a ball, supporting the ball carrier or running at any sort of angle, our play of the ball is the slowest in the competition by far. | | |

What were peoples expectations for this season?
For me I didn't expect top 4 but did expect top 6, so pretty much bang on my expectations there.
Challenge cup final i always thought was capable of doing, but if i'd have known we had to go to Catalan and play the favourites along the way, i'm not sure i'd have expected a cup final, so exceeded my expectations there.
I heard loads of Hull fans on here expecting us to get beat by Catalan last week, so they exceeded their expectations there surely?
It hasn't been pretty rugby that we've produced, but we've been a tough nut to crack and been competitive in most games this season. If Saints get beat tonight, i'd say we would have had a better season then them, so that would leave 4 teams in the whole of Europe who are better then us at the moment, hardly a crisis.
So to you people who are so disappointed, just exactly what were your expectations for this season?

Until last night I may have agreed with that point of view. The problem is the result last night made me reflect on the season as a whole and the thing that sticks out more than anything is the way we have been able to stick with the best teams in games by holding on and chucking everything at a defensive effort. But that is all we have, realistically we are a team of 17 supremely fit athletes that can throw everything in to certain games and hang on and manage to pick up gutsy wins. The problem is the skill set of the players is shocking and when they can't be bothered to turn up some weeks we having nothing to offer and get turned over by teams like Wakefield and Castleford and draw with a dire London. | | |

I reckon if we'd have had Mcdonnell, Lineham, Arundel, Crooks, O'Meley and Whiting, we would have had a chance it that game last night, certainly we'd be a much stronger attacking threat with those players in, and if you took the equivalent players out of Huddersfield team (which was pretty much full strength), I think they would have also struggled last night. | | | |
