Come on fella, I know it's far from how you expect to be treated but I feel you are over reacting here. The club hasn't handled this well at all but at the end of the day, its just a bottle of pop and lack of a professional response. It's not like MC has crept into your house and urinated on the family pet.

I was caught smoking at the ground (well away from other speccies) and the security guy firmly, but politely asked me to put it out. I suspect you have been a victim of an overzealous and misinformed independent security contractor.

If it were to happen again however, then that would be beyond the pale and understandably upsetting.

The security contractors are employees of the club, and as such the club are responsible for their behavior

The security contactor are in fact the front line of the club.Its what the public see and form opinions from. The club should respond , and offer instructions to the security provider.

So they aren't throwing people out for smoking in the ground? Which they should be in a no smoking ground. But you can be thrown out for entering with a plastic bottle. Which as far as everyone knows and according to the club you can bring in? So if as you say it must be down to the steward been a jobsworth, why won't the club apologise and deal with the steward in question? Il tell you why,because they are to pig headed and arrogant to admit they have got it wrong for !!!3 weeks!!! running. Things aren't going to get any better. Not even paying the fans lip service anymore.

I'm absolutely gob smacked at the way this has got out of control,

do you know for all the good reasons to stay with the club and way its fixing the crooked past we are ending up hurting the fans that stood with the club all this time, the heavy handed approach never works neither does the soft handed giving freebies away and allowing an easy approach.

I honestly don't see the problem with bring in bottles of water or pop, flasks of tea/coffee or even sweets, I do have a problem with drunks, violent behaviour and excessive swearing, I'm no shrinking violet but this was a family game enjoyed by all.

I've lost a good friend and his family who has now decided to move on and find a new past time, whether he finds the need to come back I wouldn't know.

I can only ever support one club and that's Trinity, I've totally lost interest in football years back and don't follow any other sport, I do hope this can be resolved as we can't afford to lose fans at this rate, you know this is a team game and we, the fans are as much part of the team as you are owning it

Speaking as an outsider I can see why the club would want to stop people bringing glass bottles or alcohol in, but can't see what the big problem is with bringing a bottle of pop in. I regularly take a bottle of either coke or water into Headingley with no problem whatsoever.

As for smoking, I'm really glad Headingley is no smoking now, it was frustrating to be stood next to someone who was smoking. I know there's the argument I could move, but that's not always easy in a busy stand.
Leeds have a smoking area at the back of the South stand near the bars, so people who want to can go and have a smoke at any point.

I speak as an ex-smoker and someone who now hates smoking but I do not look down on smokers as second class citizens. Lot's of people who are smokers help to finance our club and anyone who has smoked knows that without your 'fix' it can be a little unbearable and I know at least one person who was a ST holder who now seldom attends games because of the smoking ban.
Simple fix - make a smoking area somewhere, say in a couple of areas of the ground where smokers can go.
To treat smokers as though they have the plague is wrong, especially when equally socially unacceptable foul mouthed fans wander where they want with only a boring, pathetic PA announcement trying to control them!

It sounds like a matter of communication rather than an issue over bottles. If people know they can't take their stuff in, then it's fair enough to be asked to hand it over. If it is done in a polite and friendly manner, then I expect most people would comply. The problem, I presume, is that it is being done by blokes without much training just doing it to get an extra twenty quid on a Sunday. In a bib. People will dig their heels in if spoken to inappropriately. Marching your customers out of the ground for something like that is not on.

I detect a slight anti-fan stance from the club. I don't like some of the tweets from MC, digs about "real fans" turn up whenever. So go on, have a dig at the ones you want to attract back.

I appreciate that he feels under pressure because of what he has done for the club and I suspect feels under appreciated.. The bottom line is, however, is that he is in the entertainment industry and the leisure industry. Entertain your customers, treat them like customers, and don't slag off the ones who stopped coming. Work out how to get them back.

To be fair to the team, and that is what counts, they've done their part.

I think MC and his team are to wrapped up in there own egos to admit fault and try and get the fans back. Completely ignorant of anybody who doesnt kiss there backsides. Ive attempted to message MC personally today Via facebook because the clubs official site give you no answers. He has completely ignored me but has continued to message members of the northstanders on facebook as soon as hes been tagged in a comment. Tell me what sort of bloke ignores a polite, well put question by one fan but answers another more or less instantly. Im Sick of this and dont feel i can continue to go to games when one member of my family refuses to go back because of the treatment he recieved. Anybody with any issues with this club is been ignored might aswell write it on a piece of paper and post it in ther nearest bin.

Had no dealings with Carter, but no different to the way Richardson/Rogerson and Glover/Eston worked then. For over a decade, some supporters have been too close to management, I'd prefer there was a distinct gap between the two.

Based on what I read on here and my dealings with the club, I believe Mr Carter's focus is entirely on getting the club to survive financially this year and if that means upsetting and letting down some current supporters then so be it. I believe he's risking the hopefully short term individual loss of support as acceptable damage to secure the long term future and he is relying on our support of the club to be more than the let down we feel when things he does things to try and get more money in to the club. He's the boss, he can do what he wants - we can choose how we respond.
