Chester must be fuming if that's the case. He mentioned after the saints game that that win would mean nothing if they didn't back it up against Salford. Salford have been playing well all season surely it will have been drilled into them to work hard for the win.

I've stated elsewhere that I felt both didn't contribute much last week, but the team as a whole delivered a great victory.
Does CC play the same team again & demand they deliver or are we again gonna see some changes.
I'm thinking that Easter isn't that long ago, a series of agonisingly close defeats & then last weeks heroics has left them drained mentally & physically?'"
Physically and mentally drained???? They're full-time professional sportsmen for God's sake. It's their job!!! Perhaps Salford were physically and mentally drained but they made a far better job of it than we did. Didn't the rest of the teams play at Easter also??? We're forever making excuses for rank bad performances.

Nobodies happy with it & so far it's been one rank bad performance. I'd have dropped Finn & Grix after last week, but it was a great win. What do you suggest, sack the team, coach, MC & the laundry lady?
I remember that year when Harbin was in charge & we lost 12 on the bounce I think, that was pants. Get a grip!

| I think the problem tonight and in the lead up to tonight is that people forget that despite The Dr not being there anymore and Salford selling O'brien, they still have a lot of good players, Evalds, Sau, Lui, Littlejohn who seems to be the sort of player that would suit us and they have a workman like pack.
Take them for granted and you'll get a surprise.

| Littlejohn, the sort of signing that would suit us.
Sure when there were NRL halved off contract at the same time as Sam Williams, he was one of them.
Food for thought.
No excuses tonight, we were shocking, and of.
Yes Finn had a stinker, but he wasn't the only one.
Do feel now, with the manner of the defeat, we are looking over our shoulder a bit.
The next home game could be massive now I feel.

| For all the talk pre-season about our 'monster' pack of forwards, I don't think I've seen a game yet where they've dominated the opposition pack.(missed first two of season due to holidays).

Can't make my mind up with the first bit, if you are agreeing with me or not.
As for the rest, yeah bad result but may have shaken CC up to realise that you can change the team and not have a detrimental effect on performance, keeps players on their toes.
We are no way worse than Shudds, Widnes, KR and Catalan.

I don't think we are nailed on for the bottom four just yet & not just because we are too good but some of the sides down there are in a bigger hole than us at the moment with only Hull KR showing signs of life.
May is gonna be a massive month for us & hopefully big Dave when fit can spark things up. But on this showing the top six let alone top four is fantasy island stuff!

| Wonder just what was said at HT ??
Ok we were behind at ht but, we'd had plenty of possession in their 20 but made a hash of all of those opportunities.
Second half was just embarrassing, really embarrassing with both Finn and Grix having their worst 40 mins in a Wakefield shirt.
Nothing much went to plan and the coaches had us there an hour and a half before kick off, it's just a pity that they opened them at all !
On the plus side, we have plenty in the squad that will be busting for a game and we need some changes for next week.
THe one sure thing is that, if we go with the same mindset and application next week, Cas will put 100 past us.

| I had fears about a defeat at Salford. They are a good team but the manner of defeat and the score is disappointing.
That being said, if players have bad games, get them out and replace them . I think Jowitt was unlucky to be replaced anyway.
As for the pack, as another poster has said, despite the size of it, we haven't dominated one team so far this season and that's because it doesn't matter how near the sky you are it's what's in your chest that counts.
Team changes and move on.

| Yes, partially agreeing with you Fickle.
He was off contract, but Sam Williams was thought of as the better option, at the time, on here, and by Chessie.
Unfortunately, he wasn't given a fair chance here, and we all know how that ended.
I just hope, and especially after given his performances so far, and that of Finn's last night, that that doesn't go the same way for Ryan Hampshire. It would have been good to see the Miller/Hampshire partnership given time to combine during the pre season friendlies. Isn't Hampshire only on a one year deal. At 23, and showed some good potential, if he doesn't get the game time, could his head be turned elsewhere.
No we are certainly no worse, than any of those sides below us, but the manner of the defeat has put a dent in to what was quite a good points difference, and should Hull KR be up for it, which I am sure they will be, and should they turn us over, then we really will be looking over our shoulders

| Looking at the results only 1 from 7, worst the kids could do is 0 from 7, but that doesn't indicate a ******* thing does it.
Ok, its a bad result, we're in the game of giving ourselves a chance to win against anybody, from that perspective last night was a fail.
You've seen the season so far, the team doesn't just go to 5h1t for the next 16 games on the back of 1 poor showing, but go ahead, wallow in your despair if you must.
Personally, I won't bother, nobody died, the World carries on spinning and the team will be trying to put right the wrongs for next week.
We might win, we might lose, but its about getting the best you can from what is available.
1 bad game doesn't wipe out everything that was good before it.
Anybody that say's that was typical Wakefield clearly hasn't been watching them, its not at all typical, hasn't been typical for a long while.
Imo, we've had quite a few bad results this season but no bad games, there is a difference, it was bound to happen sooner or later, just need to get back on it and put in a performance against Cas.
No we don't have to win it, we have to give ourselves a chance to win it, and what happens...happens.

Last night was an awful performance but, we do have to keep it it context.
Only a week ago, the very same 17 beat high flying Saints (only their 2nd defeat of the season.
We have a fit squad and Chester has the job of picking the betst 17 to try and get a result at Cas next week and than at KR, Huddersfield and Widnes .
Part of the problem is that having finished within a whisker of 4th last season and on the back of a couple of signings, many were hoping that we would be challenging for a top 4 spot this time around.
Top 4 may be the aim but, given the massive improvement by Warrington, plus, Leeds, Wigan, Saints and Hull all performing well and Cas still over achieving, 4th looks a really tough ask and realistically, we are still aiming fo something around there but anywhere between 5th and 8th is where we are likely to finish (unless we put a decent run together).
We should all get behind Chester and the team and not panic if we get done next week.
The fixtures against the lower half clubs will see us comfortably in the top 8 and a couple of scalps along the way will allow us to finish in the top half of the table.
This may not be what we all dream about but, it would be a decent effort for the club with the lowest s/c spend in SL.
