Anyway, the point of the stadium asset is to
1) Keep us in, or a chance of returning, to Super League.....which drives higher income for the rugby side
2) generate income outside the rugby side.

In all mortgages, the point is to buy an expensive asset that will either make money through inflation of land or building prices, or generate income in excess of its cost over time, that you couldn't buy in one go and would lose the opportunity of the income without it.

I've no crystal ball to say it will all work, but it makes sense to me.
Added bonus of nice place for me to sit and watch rugby.

There has been a sort of an anarchic faction e-whining since the collapse of the Shane McNally's golden era. That's nearly 10 years ago. I doubt that Carter going will draw us all into one big happy family.

I actually find some of the underlying grievances with MC quite scary, verging on disturbing.

Do you know, I actually find some of the underlying worship and appreciation of Carter very disturbing. Good bean counter but a disaster as self appointed CEO and director of rugby.

We either pay inflated rent or buy the asset, don't t now the actual figures, but seemed like a no brainer to me.

That did cause me to chuckle… but ok I will engage a moment…

1) sometimes I live in my world ( when I’m asleep and dreaming.. when I’m alone walking on the beach lost in my own thoughts… or meditating) but mostly I live in THE world, the one where there are laws of science, economics, and guiding principles such as psychology, sociology, ethics and morals… on top of that there are laws of the country and personal value sets.

2) yes, in that world, companies become insolvent (as trinity have in the past) individuals are declared bankrupt… and associated villains are prosecuted for gross negligence and impropriety.

2.a I have never heard of anyone being found guilty of living within their means, either in the world of business or other worldly dealings.

3) securing ownership of the ground as a tangible asset - loans and supporting guarantees are not provided on the basis of a nod of the head. It requires a sound and solid plan, risk analysis and deep scrutiny. As with most property, and land purchases… the long term expectation is that the value of the property will grow whilst, over time, the loan will decrease. Economics1.01

4) finally securing the developer investment (supposedly committed over a decade ago by the cabal of treacherous business leaders and advisors) to build a money earning capability that goes beyond (way beyond) a similar capability of the Rugby League business alone. Asset utilisation and realisation 1.01.

5) It is a board of directors legal responsibility to ensure that the business they are responsible for is viable and well managed… so the first duty of the board is sustainability… then build success using systems and principles that are commensurate with and to laws, rules and ethics.

I posted a piece on, and from within, the Salford club a couple of days ago… their sustainable future is now reliant on increased community investment.. (in a form of Co-operative… if you will) and is destabilised by the lack of a secure tenure for a stadium… an uncertainty which stands stark and clear in their narrative. Should their model break (and their appeal seems to suggest that without further investment, it surely will) they have no asset base, business alternatives or funding streams to fall back on.

As I said I have no axe to grind with anyone else opinions, but when faced with a situation, I try to bring to bear my experience, accumulated knowledge and qualified expertise in drawing a conclusion and forming an opinion…

although from memory, I believe there is a pervading political view in the UK that the population should no longer listen to such people, as we have, apparently, all had enough of experts!

So maybe I should stop listening to this self reflection in my musings!?!?

You see, that's where the people with agendas and grievances are wrong, and blinded by judging people by their own standards.

The people I've seen post a view against those that are on a mission to put him down do not say he's perfect, they just point out that the things being said about him are wrong or at least biased.

People seem to forget there's a human at the end of those insults and false claims.......and damage the club far more than Proctor going for a long weekend break.

And ironically Salfords perilous financial status is our only hope of surviving as a Superleague club.

Various reports are saying that Salford can’t pay their debts, haven’t been on time with player wages and could find themselves involved in an insolvency action. If that happens they will be on the end of a big points deduction and/or relegation to League One.

He is obviously a good accountant but then chose to take over certain aspects of the running of the club for which he is certainly not experienced in. This in itself left him open to questions, I am sure he would be happy to accept any plaudits however his experience and his core skill left us in the position we are in now.

I'm not happy with the recruitment over the past couple of years and particularly the decision to swap hall for dagger . But, I can't escape the fact our ground improvements, against a sea of obstacles placed on us by the council and developers of Newmarket, are a huge positive for the club. Some fans make horrendous accusations against Michael Carter. Absolutely unfair. You get in his shoes and see what it was like to try to get us to progress, then tell me it's not for fans to find solutions

It would be hoped that the former which is his principal role would not require him to take on the former. The conclusion for whatever reasons the club failed to generate enough income to sustain our SL position.

Unfortunately it’s a sign of the society we live in where is socially acceptable to sit behind a keyboard and spout vitriol and personal accusations and even abuse about individuals . It’s the side of RL that i find very unpalatable ,and yes we all have our opinions on every aspect of the clubs running, and long may that continue .Not one single person who supports or cares for the club is happy with the situation we find ourselves in ,and lots of things that have happened recently have had the most laid back fan scratching their head , but it’s a game and the people who run it are only human with families and as such should be treated accordingly imo . That doesn’t mean they can’t be questioned or held accountable but verbal abuse isn’t the way to go about it and has got to be stamped out

Always have been, but surely we can all remember the off seasons from 1999 til when he took the reigns. There didn't seem on a winter where we weren't subject to a winding up order from HMRC.

Thankfully those seem to be a thing of the past.

I don’t get to see the accounts … so my comment is a little blind and general…

However… there are very few businesses that are cash rich… once taxes, wages, overheads, loan interest has been considered, not making a loss is a major goal… indeed the liquidity of many companies is measured by their asset value.

If “skint” means we are not raising enough revenues to invest in the business , and become market leaders… then I refer back to my previous diatribes.
