Took his try well, but under any pressure in defence the odds are always favouring the attacker - certainly would be looking to offload him if a better option came up.

| Result is disappointing if you see the game as we played well but great that we are mixing it with the big guns.

| As someone who was at the game and not read all thus thread, I'll just add my two peneth. Always going to be up against it when we were 2 men down with Raleigh off after 13 mins with a bad knee and mariano concussion. However a prerequisite for a rugby player is to be able to catch, a prerequisite for a winger is to also be able to take a high ball. Fox failed and has failed lots of times in the past 2 seasons at this. Catalans would have had no chances to score if he had done his job, tiredness or no tiredness. That's 4 points in 2 weeks we should have had. To say I'm fuming us an understatement. Feed the fox and he will score, kick to him and you'll score more! Ian Henderson had a great game but we shouldn't be losing 16 point leads

| That was a terrible performance from fox.
Here's hoping its a one off. The set from when it was 22-22 was apauling. 5 drives took Catalans to our 30 yard line to ping a drop goal over. Nobody went for the legs. That was the set that took the game away from us.
Could do with the points next week against Salford. Thought for the most part though we were quite good. Just a few too many head explosions leading to penalties that need sorting.

| Said to my mate when we signed Lyne I could see Foxy being on his way out.He does some very good work when taking the ball up but his defending leaves a big question mark.
16 points up we should have been looking to finish the game off and to shut them out.Once again the side has shown that they can do it against tough opposition but they need to be consistant for the full 80 otherwise the results will read the same as the last 2 games.

| Positives from todays game; we played with a few youngsters against a physical big pack. We can attack and score trys anywhere on the field especially out wide. Many of our plays had caused players to break the line (Mariano who set Mathers up for instance), we played over at Catalan which is very hard to get the 2 points for many teams including the top ones.
A few negatives; players giving away stupid penalties, players not being able to take a high ball (yes its hard but you expect them to be safe with the ball) and in defence is it only me that sees that Cockayne and Fox both get sucked in when defending the line. I cant help but think if they just held back or even acknowledged the winger on the blindside we would stop more trys.
Overall a great effort from the lads and I am looking forward to Salford at home. I just hope they dont think its going to be a easy 2 points. We can compete with top teams and this proved it.

| We should be by right 4 wins from 5 games and full of confidence, getting better each week & thinking we can beat anyone, instead we're 2 from 5, lacking that clinical edge you need to beat the better sides and no doubt our confidence is being tested.
Anyway onwards & upwards, hopefully sooner or late this lot will realise that they're a good side and start playing the full 80 like one.

| We show we can compete with quality sides, now time to show we can put away the lower SL sides and not slip up like we have in the past. Lets not underestimate Salford and take the frustration of the last 2 narrow defeats out on them and get a good win for the Belle Vue faithful.

I honestly think we look a decent side we just keep letting ourselves down because of a few basic errors.
Anyway, a win next week would mean 3 from 6. I'd be happy with a 50% win ratio by the end of the season, it would put us in or very close to the top 8 so it's not all doom and gloom!
On another note, good to see Ben as the top try scorer and metre maker at the moment!

Well done Ben!

| If we could teach Fox to catch then i'd say we are two away. Another bruising prop forward and a decent interchange hooker.

for my money, one of
another big robust and dominant front rower
a stand off in the same class as T Smith (much as I like Sykes and recognide he compliments Smith)
a classy or impactfull back rower to come from the bench
I suspect we're on the hunt

| Fox was awful. He was just as bad at London, failing to pass inside and getting hammered by the fullback, but he/we got away with it as they were so bad and put very little his way. Today seeing Catalans just pepper him from 30-40 meters out was embarrassing.
I bet Mathers was pleased though, I bet he'd have dropped a couple of them too. Cockayne was awful in defence too, rushing in on the centre on more than one occasion - it's not like Blanch needs an invitation is it?
I can't get my head round these three - they get and deserve the plaudits for injecting pace and enthusiasm to our sets by getting things moving and their selfless running into bigger men, but they can be our soft underbelly in defence.
Fox to me looks finished, the one asset he always had was genuine pace, and I'm not convinced he has that any more. His confidence is shot, it's not that he's always dropping the bombs but he's so weak in this area he's not even getting to where they're landing.
In defence of Fox, we rarely pressured the kicker, but it was noticeable that when the natural angle was to kick to the other wing during the second half they rotated and targeted him. We've known it for a while, and now it's crystal clear that other clubs know it too. If he can't sort it out then his time is done, Agar takes no prisoners.
As for being on the hunt for other players, well like it or not we've probably got a Ā£10k-Ā£15k per month hole in our already tight finances as a result of the Eric France collapse, and if I were a gambler I'd suggest they won't have been paying us for a while so we're probably Ā£30k-Ā£50k out of pocket already in 2013 from what we'd have budgeted on. So rather thanus recruiting genuine quality I'd suggest that Isaac John won't be the last departure if we can find anyone daft enough to sign Mellars. I think we're a couple of players and/or a big slice of luck from being a top 6 side, or a couple of injuries away from being a bottom 4 one.
We all know what the Cas tactic is this year - maintain a smaller squad but with more relative quality and hope they don't get injuries and forget the off field stuff and hope that's enough to squeeze into the playoffs and maybe a semi-final then say to the RFL come licence time "come on chuck us out" and hope that there'd be enough implied threat of an outrage!! We're not a million miles away from them squad wise if we get a couple of knocks but we're holding it together off the field at the moment and credit to the powers that be for that. However if we lose say Tim Smith and/or Aiton/Kirmond/Washbrook/Collis for lengthy spells then the results may not come for us like they did last year.
Back to the point though, today was most definitely two points lost, as was last week against Huddersfield. Agar will be hurting, and I just hope that our players can recognise that they're doing most things right in order to challenge right up until the end against two top five sides and can continue to have the confidence to do these against the likes of the poorer sides like Hull FC, Salford, Cas etc.

I was looking at OOC players for next year the other day, to see what would be available next season and came to a similar conclusion and also like Theboyem says to get to that next level probably also a interchange hooker.
If we could keep our main 17 and youngsters and add a decent prop like a Prescott or Kirke, or a good SR like Harrison Hansen and also someone like Ian Henderson, we would be good to go.

Just about says it all, add his performance to our inability to close a game down and giving a strung of penalties away we wont be beating any of top clubs.
Fox has to be dropped,
