A little confused by todays news and I think we’ll have to await more explanation from either the club or Poching for an idea of the rationale.

On paper relieving Poching of his duties after 1 year suggests the appointment was flawed in the first place. Surely a coach needs more than a years contract in any scenario, especially as a rookie head coach and with limited movement in the playing group possible until this off-season.

I did get the feeling Poching was starting to inject some of his knowledge and passion for the club into the players. The grit and character, long renowned with Wakefield, which seemed to leave with Kirmond/the bunch which departed a couple of seasons ago.

IMO the timing does point to a disagreement of some kind. We’re a few weeks on from being safe and more vital recruitment time is slipping away. Willie seemed to understand the budgets and resources available at the club, so hope we have a coach lined up who can work on the same constraints and work some magic.

Hoping for a quick announcement about a new Trinity Head Coach who turns a few heads in the sport and is well respected, experienced and successful in the game….

The reaction to his replacement will probably go one of two ways. It'll either be, "wow!, I never saw that coming!" or, "cheap, unproven option again. Typical Wakey."

Your not wrong, but even the wow won’t be good enough for some.

At Wakey, everyone is unproven, because managing a team of great players is a different skill to managing a bunch of newbies, hopefuls, and second-chancers.

Time will tell. We'll know by May how it is going, whoever it is.

Or by next week or whenever the new coach is announced.........

If the standard was good why did it take until round 20 to string a couple of better performances?
Toulouse was poor game management by Poching and didnt react with subs to minimise the impact of being down to 12 men and ameteur to use 2 markers when 12 men on the field, that is coaching and he was the coach, likewise Salford away zero change in game plan and salford continued to do what they did from score one to score 14

Poching i like but a head coach he isnt, he deserved his chance but as a club we need to push for better experience, if we persist with mediocre 2/3rds of the season and an above average final 1/3rd then we will never improve regardless of any future stadium enhancements and any possible investments

Top post nail on the head. To persist with two markers against Toulouse at Magic when down to 12 was a massive mistake we may as well have had another in the bin. Salford was a joke the backs got castigated but Salford were excellent helped by our forwards not quick enough to move from the middle to the edge defence.

Yawn. Let's try and pick out the bad games and blame Poching and say that's why he's gone.

If the coach has to send a message on to tell players to spread out in defense, we have the wrong players.

The fact you are having doubts should send a warning to the club when they are causing the most enthusiastic to question a decision.

As per a couple of posts yesterday, forgive if I have missed something, however has anyone stopped to think that it was Poching who didn’t want to stay and therefore we couldn’t renew his contract, rather than us not renewing the contract. The deal in place was for the 12 months wasn’t it, so by rights he is entitled to look at other options elsewhere???????

I believe the statement from JM clearly indicated it was the club’s decision not WP or his assistant. I may be wrong and my memory may just be lying to me.

Memory did not fail me, the club did a review after 12 months and decided they needed a change.

I'll be honest, I was a little underwhelmed, when I saw Applegarths name crop up a lot this afternoon. Don't get me wrong, he's done a great job with the kids. I just don't think he's ready for this next step just yet.

With all the names being brandished about, the journalists have been very busy over the past 24 hours or so.

I have heard, from a good source (current senior player), who shall remain nameless, I was being sociable in passing the time of day, and didn't get involved in the topic that much, just saying that we get the right person, and soon. This was his words ALL current coaching staff have gone.

All seems very odd,but if true, would rule out Applegarth.

Maybe, just maybe, that revolt on here, has touched a nerve and sparked a reaction. Knee jerk or not, only time will tell.
