| Can only be pleased as are I'd guess, the majority of fans.
Not inspired at JW appointment but lets see after the 5 home matches.

| It's difficult to say if JW will be a better option, or more of the same; optimistically, he could now step out from under RA's shadow and implement some of his own ideas, that might just make a difference.
Either way, the best hope is that the players will react to the change with sufficient vigour to see us out of the relegation scrap; then we begin yet another rebuilding period.

| Fair play to Richard for stepping down - he couldn't take us any further.
However it seems apparent that this has been a done deal for many weeks and as a supporter who has spent the best part of £300 watching this side over the past 4/5 weeks, I feel a bit cheated and you can see why the attitude of the players has been wrong - typical Wakefield, treating the fans like dirt but what is new !!
Role on the London game - at least now I can go to that one with a bit of enthusiasm.

Come on Jose my friend you are better than that. It's not about treating the fans like dirt! There are so many factors to consider when making decisions at this club. Whether the decision is right or wrong it's made with the best intentions.

I have no idea how Webster will perform but I hope he's got broad shoulders and demands respect from the start because boy these lot are just not performing and they are far better than that, that Bradford game was a no brainer didn't go so I can't and won't comment on games over the radio but to lose that knowing the degree of the implications at the end of the season just backed up my feeling of what I've seen.
I expect nothing but a ruthless game against London, win by a few points will only go to show again that laid back attitude, loss and boy the wolves will be back for more blood

I bear Webster no malice and will obviously give him time, but for me this is a high risk manoeuvre and one that is classic Wakey. We never learn. Who knows he might just step out of his shadow but in such an important season why the hell would we go for an unknown quantity, one already tainted with failure. So we let a new lad cut his teeth in at the deep end. Madness

| No one has any idea how Webster will do. One advantage is that he knows the players and what they can do. All he needs is the "new coach" effect for a few games, provided Bradford don't get six points back. Tony Smith did the same in 2005.
Next year, however, won't have the same trapdoor feeling. We can worry about that next year.
I reckon the person who should be worried is the Catalan coach, whose name I can't be bothered to look up to spell properly. Fries'n'soup or whatever it is.

No we don't. To me that says it all. Why increase the risk factor and just take a wild punt. It's just the easy way out

Oddly you're wrong on this or at least historically wrong.
Roe's assistant McNally took over and saved the day - Tony Smith, McNally's No 2 did exactly the same a year later when McNally was sacked. Tony Kemp did strangely well when AK bit the bullet though he wasn't his assistant. AK himself I think came through in a similar way as did John Harbin. The only obvious bucking of this trend was JK an external appointment but dire though our situation currently is it's not yet as bad as that was.
All had instant if short term success. So in theory at least it's very much the way to go - whether it works for us yet another time is a worry as we may be pushing our luck but hey what choice do we have.
We need four wins for security IMHO and you'd hope a new broom might just manage that.

If youre telling me that Tony Smith was a success then we really are screwed. Within a year we were relegation fodder, although I take your point about the short term bounce affect in 05. Either way my point remains, it's a high risk strategy, one which is effectively saying it doesnt matter who we change to as long as we change. I don't agree that's anything other than high risk. You say what choice do we have? Is there really nobody at all out there? Or do you think it is just financial?

Well of course I'm not and you've confirmed that in the rest of your post. Short term Smith was a huge success at the end of that season, if Webster does the same I'll be a very happy man. I'll face next season - next season.

| If the new coach effect works temporarily and we start picking up points that will do for this season. We can worry about a new coach in the off season.
If however there is no change and London get their first win, I'd say we'll be looking down both barrels and will be fully deserving of it. We've had enough chances already to be well clear of 12th spot.

If you think back to 2006, we weren't that far off the rest. We weren't going to finish bottom, that was Catalan. We were in the mix with Wigan until they bought Fielden, and with Huddersfield until the Teapot game. Our problem was that we let other teams pull away from us. This year, we are stopping ourselves pull away.
The irony this year, in the context of all previous "RFL hate us" theories, is that the RFL might save us, with the Bulls appeal.
I would be most worried if I was a Salford fan.
The galling thing is the tweets from within the camp about how great Agar is, as if somehow he has been hounded out of his job, when it's the players who have let him down!

Agar confirmed he was looking for another job within the game so let’s stop the ‘hounding out’ propaganda. His time at Hull showed no matter how much stick he received, and that was far greater than what he got here, he would stick to his guns.

All accurate but in my opinion does not alter the fact that we have appointed a coach with no SL experience and who is tainted with failure. That to me is a high risk strategy. I'm not saying he will fail because I've nothing to judge him on, he might end up the next Wayne Bennett I've no idea. I just don't see how appointing him was the right thing to do at this stage. Obviously I hope he does well and I wish him luck

Don't go for the hounded out bit myself, someone correct me if I'm wrong but didn't RA resign as he wanted to look for another job? I'm guessing he's got a job lined up already and wanted to walk away from his contract, so hounded out my arris.
