I was once sent for a long stand in my first job as a snotty nosed 15 year old.

Is it inconceivable that (and i'd just like to point out i won't buy int this rumour until i see it or here it from a trusted source, no offence Dave) the development company could give us some dosh (say half of the build costs) to buy back the ground (B.V) and redevelop it (or part of it) and save themselves the hassle and the remaining half of the building costs tied up in the new stadium, or would the 106 agreement (or whatever bit of legislation is involved) forbid that.
I WILL REITERATE, THIS IS MY MIND GOING OFF ON A WANDER ALL OF ITS OWN AND NOT BASED ON ANY FACT OR RUMOUR!!!

no I'd magine they haven't. although perhaps they've made alternative arrangements witht he developers??? that's a pure guess though.

I hope I've been misinformed, and as yet credit to you guys for not boarding the "cas fan peddling crap" ship, but thus far I've been informed correctly on other aspects of the development - not that I've made it my business to know.

The whole development has been de-railed I was told by my rather upset informant.

I assume before laying out such a significant sum of money the club will likely have bought BV back too?!

One thing  I would say, if the NM scheme falls flat on its backside I think the club should get in touch with the guys who are working on the City Fields development and see if they can take up the site where the proposed warehouse are set to go at the old Power Station site. It would work well with the proposed relief road that will be built there and may help push that massive development through PP. It means starting right at the very beginning but it could be a more suitable site (not as far OOT).

Wouldn't assume you'd believe it before an announcement is official anyway Kinley, no offence taken mate.

part of this rumour I wish could be true staying at belle vue and having a new stadium build but how would this be financed, its not just parking facilities that let the old girl down

Don't bite; as with a thousand other rumours from an unsubstantiated source it will more than likely result in a few knee jerk reactions and then nothing. Jus to be clear, I have no idea whether what Dave has posted is true or not.

What I was aware of was some sort of contingency that was to bridge the gap between BV and the move to NM due to the well publicised delays new stadium was subject to. It involved a circa £1m face lift to improve facilities, certainly nothing as major as financing a new £5m stand.

Could Newmarket never happen ? quite possible because over the years the club and the council have managed to balls up many an opportunity.

Could we end up staying at Belle Vue ? Yes again highly likely if we don't focus 100% on Newmarket and get side tracked by other stupid ideas.

Could Belle Vue be upgraded ? Not a chance in Hell !!!. For a start the ground would have to be purchased and so would the Super Bowl. Once owners of both realise our interest just watch the price rise. So where will the money come from for that. Secondly even if the funds could be raised to buy both items, where do you get the money to redevelop?
You can't transfer 106 benefits to another site and even if you could, you can't give public funds to a private organisation.

So if you could find the money to buy Belle Vue and buy the Super Bowl and redevelop the ground, why bother ?
If you could get such funds just use it to bridge the shortfall at NM.

A redeveloped Belle Vue would still be a botch up in a land locked area in a crap part of the City.
NM is a 40 acre location purpose built facility in a superior location.

Those are questions I can't answer mate, and I don't disagree with you. Though after hearing positive things for a good twelve months, we had this bombshell dropped on us.

I don't recall the exact reasons, though they were explained to me... They were a bit complex hence I don't remember/understand some bits of it, so I don't want to get anything wrong, but I will gleen a bit more info if I can.
