What would it matter? Leeds want him, either way he will not lose face.

I can obviously see why Leeds want him and paying £20k now is better than maybe 100k (or 3 friendlies!) in 2/3 years.

I really cant understand him wanting to go at this time in his career though. Having seen him a few times now, the potential is definately there but his defense is simply not good enough to be pushing for a place in the Leeds side in the next 18 months.

He would be far better off staying here and playing 15 games or so next season rather than going there and ending up on loan at Halifax (no disrespect) this time next year.

Is it about the cash?? Is he really, at 18 years old (??) concerned that his game is been stifled??? Most lads that age would just be happy to be involved and learning of the senior pros and coaches. Does he believe his natural off loading game would be good enough at the top level at this stage in his career?

The Leeds of old would have gone out and bought a current international or at least a star, would they not? Therefore that argument does not fit.

Wakey play in SL - as do Leeds.
Wakey provide a route to the first team - as do Leeds.
Wakey pay in Pounds Sterling - as do Leeds.

In fact there are some very valid reasons why a young player would be better off at Wakey than at Leeds. If we accept that this is our position so easily, then what chance do we have in promoting the career opportunities to 16 and 18 year olds - which is exactly what we are trying to do right now.

I genuinely believe that Jay is making the wrong move, but he's free to do so - just as I am free to believe that not everything Leeds is shiny!

You are wrong, as far as I'm aware we have matched Leeds though I don't know figures. It's sad but it's the reality of RL.

Leeds are taking a punt because they have failed to produce a Pitts type player. Why so defensive I'm simply looking at it from a positive.

That is prob one of the reasons, but at a young age, like Pitts you should be looking to play as much first team rugby as possible.

IMO he would get more first team chances at Wakey then Leeds.

To be fair he is playing on the wing and is really a centre, his defence isnt a problem he just makes the wrong decison and comes in to help his centre leaving the wing unapposed.

From what I seen of him he has really impressed me at Hull, his has great speed and strenght, think he could make a very good centre in a couple of years. At the moment he is working full time but is looking to give that up to play RL FT, so he would benifit massivley from going FT.

I would sign him for Hull but we already have Tansey, Calderwood, Raynor, Yeaman, Hall, Briscoe (and his younger brother Jack) signed on for next season

jay is upset that he was left with no oppotunty but to go , its a case of being pushed and not just for the money or at least that was the view last week.

Leeds have announced the signing of a young prop from Whitehaven today, Luke Amor I think he's called. Does this move pour cold water on the rumours of Pitts going to Leeds?

Don't think so. Reading the posts it's a done deal, although the reasons for his departure are still up in the air. Was he pushed or did he choose to go? It would be concerning if he was encouraged to go.

It's not the old Wakey tactic of getting rid of a player just before he is probably due a bonus payment if he played anymore first team games? I've heard that said before about other players over the years.

Just why would a young player leave a club where he has been given the opportunity to play 1st team football and would probably next season play more ,1st team matches,surely at Leeds there must be six or seven more experienced players that would be more likely to play before Jay Pitts would be considered.

Considering he's only a "squad" player at wakey and likely to be the same at leeds i'm sure he'll get as many chances at leeds as he would with you.
Especially when you consider bluey's attitude to rotating his squad.
Good signing for us imo and looking forward to seeing how he develops.
