I think you have a very good signing in Walmsley from what I`ve seen of him.
Big unit and has plenty of pace pretty much in the Johnstone mould but not as good yet of course.
There's some good teams in the Championship but I`m sure you will be back in SL the following year.

Hope we have some signings soon and some quality ones. I know we started a bit behind the 8 ball a bit late but we are still lacking in quality and depth if we are targeting that top spot and the two finals this season.

Think there be 1 or maybe 2 more, but after that we will be relying on the Duel Reg agreement to pad out the squad, with the possibility of mid season signings should the right players become available.

I agree. Looking at the likes of Fev, Bradford, York not to mention others, we need to add some quality to the forwards for sure.

2 players of the right calibre will make all the difference. Like you say if we’ll be getting players of Hill, Eseh and Chans calibre potentially that will be class in the Championship. But obviously need a strong enough squad not to rely on dual reg players or if Wigan hit an injury blip we’re snookered.

Joe Shorrocks has just left Wigan to go to Salford so thats one pack man they are down and Harvie Hill is rumoured to be joining him there on loan. Less options to go at.

I notice Joe Lovudua has signed for Doncaster as well. They are also getting a competitive team together there.

I see that Leigh have just managed to secure Matt Moylan on a 2 year deal, so there are still some quality players available to those with deep pockets

I agree, we’re not there yet with proven quality- lots of promise and potential but I think we need a bit more yet!
Maybe some to come yet although it’s gone a bit quiet I reckon things still going on in the background!

The starting 17 is good enough for anywhere between 1-3 imho as it stands but if injuries kick in we are stuffed.

I’m sure Powell said in a recent interview usually it’s 31/32 players in a squad.

I’d be happy with 3/4 real good quality signings. I’m sure we aren’t being complacent but trying to get the right players and quality ones.

In the Radio Leeds interview last week, Powell said that he was looking at a squad of 34, so realistically there should be a good few more to come yet, so hopefully some proven quality amongst them ??

I've always admired Matty and was thrilled when he signed for the Sharkies ... honestly though, he has never really fired in a sharks shirt.. on occasion he can be brilliant... but those occasions have been few and far between for a couple of seasons now. He's been a player I've always been excited to see on the team sheet but usually a bit disappointed by his performance.

He's probably an upgrade for Leigh on Reynolds but (IMO) he's no longer a game changing star.

I think as an organising half he will go well. The issue is for me Leigh needed a 5/8th rather than a midfield general as they already have that in Lam.

For me it’s a panic buy with them missing out on Milford who fitted the bill as the strike style of player they needed to combine with Lam.

Hoping for some signings soon to boost the squad and strengthen.

A strong prop with heavy post contact metres is absolute must to replace Fifita and Whitbread.

A damaging right second row to replace Tanginoa is another must.

Even if we sign 2/3 players that’s fine if they are high quality.

News and rumours is very sp on the playing front. Haven’t seen or heard a player rumour in weeks.

Looking at the squad, we're short of props, halves and a fullback, unless we plan on using Kay.

Can’t see us going with more halves than we have. We currently have 3 front line halves in the squad. The duel reg agreement may also give us access to Rocky Hampshire and Jack Farrimond (who is a very special young player)

Props I’d like to see 1 more experienced older head sign, duel reg I am sure will see us get access to at least 3 or 4 props including Chan, Hill and Eseh all who have SL pedigree.

Fullback is a position I’d like to see us get cover. Wingers often cover fullback but Jerry isn’t a fullback and Walmsley has played there but I’m not convinced by him.

I expect us to have access to Ekerskey (very good young centre) abd also Douglas (winger) if we pick up knocks from Wigan but I don’t really see where they have a 1 coming through although Rocky has again showed he can play there very well if needed.

Funnily enough, it's only 8 days since Lawford signed, i was thinking the same as you till I went back to see who was the last and there were a few like Walmsley, Bain and Harvey Smith that all came close together. Hopefully, we get a number of signings like we just had before Xmas, or we sign some guys from down under after that's out of the way..

It's great having access to some of the Wigan boys, a great move by both clubs.
However, if we want to be challenging and actually gain promotion, it's dangerous to rely too much on the dual reg.
If Wigan pick up injuries at key times for Trinity, we could be left high & dry.

I agree but the props and halves particularly it would take a lot of injuries for us not to have access to most of the lads above for large parts of the season.
