It had nothing to do with the image rights bill, that figure for any club will not be known until the conclusion of the test case between the HMRC and Leeds Rhinos. What took us down was a historical unpaid tax bill. The image rights issue would have been still to come.

TBH Billy, results are a lot better than we hoped for in light of our off field shenanagins over the past few months, so added to the matchday improvements that have been applied, we're relatively happy in wakeyworld. A few signings and some good news on the ground and we may reach critical mass!!
Now looking at the back page of my League Express and six points from 10 and down in 6th position, hows everything in "LoinerLand"? Steadily slipping backwards if you ask me!!

As far as I'm aware Leeds is a different Tax office. Leeds have chosen to contest it, we didn't. Our problem was that we couldn't get terms from HMRC when we were hit with the last bill which we simply couldn't pay it in one go. That is why we were wound up.
Clearly the image rights is only a part of it but it's the part that sent us over the edge. Of course the people who told me are almost certainly liars whilst your source is beyond reproach.

| The tax bill that finished us off had nothing to do with image rights. No rugby league clubs have paid or will pay this bill until the test case involving the Rhinos is resolved. Due to our administration we do not owe any of this image rights tax anymore.

Where have you got this from - it's not what I was told. However so many of you seem to think it's the case I'd like to know then I can question my source just to be certain.
Also, not saying for certain it was that particular bill, it's an accumulation of tax bills that did it. As far as I'm aware we knew the figure and simply couldn't pay it in full when it was due. Hardly matters whether we ever paid it or received the actual bill, once Newmarket went to enquiry there was never a chance. That was the gamble and the club received some very poor advice on that or perhaps like folk on here they believed what suited them.
However the fact remains that the new club and Mr Glover have no such worries so replacing a few bulbs is hardly up there with Abromovich.

I'm pretty sure it was from TRB Vasty. I too was lead to believe it was for the image rights and pretty much defended the clubs position. Turns out I was wrong.

Your lack of knowledge is staggering.
Ted Richardson took the club over just before it collapsed after the previous owners the Duncan family finances collapsed. Unlike AG he did take over the clubs debt.
Even more stupid and ignorant of you is the FACT that Ted didn't sign the deal for the flats, it was a certain Mr Pearman (remember him) who did that. It was the same Mr Pearman who took the club into a CVA. He was the great saviour of the club and Ted was all set to step down. Oh the short memories.
It was Ted who structured he CVA that saved the club and gave the creditors some return.
So jog on.'"
So if the final tax bill that took us over the edge was to do with image rights, why were there references made to it including unpaid VAT (James Elston made reference to that in the last few weeks before the end of Ted). Explain to us not versed in accounting, tax issues and business as you so clearly are. How does an HMRC bill incurred by none payment of taxation on image rights (your words Vastman) come to be subject to unpaid VAT?

See explanation on other post.
Whether I "Vastman" am wrong on this particular detail and you "trinfan7" are right is irrelevant. If I'm wrong on the detail so be it I apologies, but the fact remains that we wouldn't be able to pay it no matter how it arrived.
The point of my post remains the same no matter how pedantic folk wish to be on one issue. Mr Glover has none of the debt burden that the old club had and as such will find small issues such as the floodlights easy to resolve?
The problem is that our club has issues that will cost millions to put right and has had for 40 years. It will certainly take more than a few bulbs to sort.
I'm sure Mr Glover means well but it's a bumpy road ahead and some serious staying power is required. I hope he is the man for the job I really do but it's far to early to say. Whilst comparing him with the fag end of the old regime is simply not comparing like for like.
Ted was once the darling of the terraces, "there's only one Ted" was a common chant.

| It definately wasn't the image rights bill. We'll never actually have to pay that now due to administration and you may well find a few other clubs take a similar route should Leeds lose their case.
Either way we weren't very good at paying anybody what we owed so if AG can sort this problem above any other and make the club self-sustainable then he will have been a success. Its baby steps at the minute and theres an awful long way to go but its going in the right direction.

Correct!
Rome wasn't built in a day as has been posted elsewhere, but things are significantly improving off the field.
Mr Glover has still a lot of work to do, equally as importantly in the business community promoting our club and getting investment and sponsorship etc, and improving the name of WTW that has been dragged through the mud in the last few years.
A significant improvement appears to be the change of tack from our local newspaper, hopefully the improvement in relations may extend to Red Hall now El Presidente has moved on.

No vasty that is the point, its the small things that add up to the bigger picture, WTWC are providing a product and getting the small things right is critical. It is also about perception, you say the light bulbs is a small thing easy to resolve, then why did Ted not do it? Instead of letting people bitch about it for years. The perception was of a lack of care, where as Mr glover doing the small things gives off the vibe of someone who cares.
Its a bit like owning a house, sure most people struggle to pay the mortgage, perhaps your right mr glover might too! yet most people do not lose their pride in their house, they keep cutting the the grass, paint the gable ends every few years etc etc.

Life in the Metropolis is a tad challenging at the mo.
When BMD was made our coach, I have to admit I raised an eyebrow . When they appointed J Lowes as his assistant the other one shot up as well! Its a bit early after only 5 games to reach any meaningful conclusions, but I suspect we may have a double act here in Headingley to rival the Chuckle Bros.
Still, I comfort myself with two thoughts;
One. We aren't Bradford.
And two. I reckon our new and flamboyant Harlem Globetrotter style, will bamboozle your lot enough in a couple of weeks for a customary humping to be administrated.

Honestly I have to laugh when people like you come on the forums telling saps like me exactly how it is. Even though you were clearly never there and are just winging it, basing your opinions on what you think you know.
Here's a revelation for you, people like me and TRB were always fully aware of Teds failings. If he didn't have failings organisations like SWAG, Wisca and Squadbuilder probably wouldn't exist. I've seen TRB in particular have full on rows with Ted and win most of them. We know the things that were done wrong and what was done right and on balance Ted did his best under trying circumstances, he made mistakes who doesn't. And there is the difference between me an you, a real grasp of the situation and some balance. You on the other hand are in danger of injuring yourself if you fall off that high horse.
I'm happy Teds gone, he'd had his day but I feel no need to kick him as he leaves. We need new blood as all clubs do every now and then. I hope Andy Glover is it.
As for Fev and it's past leadership, people in glass houses and all that.

I absolutely agree with this post
The expression first impression comes to mind, setting standards is another, both are cornerstone to customer relations
I have to say the first thing I noticed on Friday from Barnsley Road was the replacement of the floodlight bulbs, a minor point but something that I have harped on about previously. Its great to see these small things being put right, that speaks volume of the bigger things to come.
The communication with supporters has increased massively, fans are being listened to but most important the club feels like its a club again regardless of the results at the moment, the togetherness is there not the cliques that seemed to be in place before and the deafening communication of the previous regime.
Things are rosy and this is only the beginning

firstly derogatory name calling? poodle is on your user info, explain?n
no franchise = Ted, administration = Ted, a team capable of one win in five = Ted, when will you get it into your head, DISASTER = TED.
Things are improving and that is because he has gone and been replaced with someone with a brain and more willing to put money in than take it out.
I accept it is early days but 100% so far, something we haven't had for a while, so yes it is looking rosy, only a bitter and twisted individual such as your self would look for negatives.
Saying Mr glover means well? FFS that makes Teds efforts over the last few years look cataclysmically effortless!!!
Im sorry it hasn't turned out how you wanted it to, but hey move on.
Let the people be happy that things are improving, you just sit back in your ivory tower waiting for it all to go sour, so you can once again claim to know better than everyone else, who knows one day we will all be singing "theres only one Ted" with you, it will make a change from just the voices in your head, during a wet dream.
Ted is dead (figuratively) long live the king.

I don't think it's a matter of being 'bitter and twisted' but more a realistic look at things. People are too quick to criticise, that is true, but they are equally too quick to go over the top on praise.
'We' are quick to make legends out of the mediocre, and it's frustrating to those looking deeper than cheap beer and fixing floodlights (which we won't be using next season.)

| If some are saying they'd only be happy if say the new chairman spent 50k to buy a scrum half on 150k a year that would show his full commitment. Then he'd probably be a bad owner as come July that money could turn out to be a waist and better spent subsidising costs in the Championship.
A good owner will be the one who boosts commercial sales and brings in top name sponsors making sure the club is run as best as possible not just splash the cost when the goings good... The problem in the first place?
Talk of being debt free... Didn't Mr Glover pay off some of that debt?
