I think he should start passing it into touch it will go further, although the hull player kicking was even worse

I know he doesn't normally kick it as far as he possibly can, but today the wind was swirling around and it was unpredictable you would of been moaning if he kicked it far and the wind blew it into play.. Better safe then sorry they say.

He has a massive boot on him, why he doesn't place kick for touch I don't know. We could get Fox to hold the ball for him, and if he mis-cues then it could benefit the team.

He is so lazy if a player cant perfect how to kick a call more than 2yards for a penalty. Vastman have your piles been playing up again. He had a stormer against cas Jesus if you think that was a stormer you must be dumb.

Sykes hasn't played particularly well on a number of occasions but biggest concern is his kicking - to touch and at goal which have been no where near as good as back end of last year

His kicking has been below par but to put that at the door of him having signed a contract is bizarre seeing as it was only a one year deal.

Oh and Goulding won't be available for a month seeing as he's just joined dewsbury on a months loan.

He's a senior player and his performances are not upto standard. Lot of players pulling there weight but sykes cannot put his foot through a ball and make 10yards PATHETIC

So who are we to replace him with? I'm not against replacing him as he has been poor at times this season but there is no evidence that the other options are better imho.

People used to call for Wildie but he clearly isn't the answer. Goulding I don't know about but isn't even making the squad so clearly not being thought about.

Possibly Lee Smith as he looked something like at Cas but he isn't a permenant option.

Based on the first half I'd have had him down as a MoM candidate.
Second half or what % of it he played before going off injured, less so - but then again we didn't exactly see much ball in that period.
Clearly you watch a different game to almost everybody else but then again you're not happy unless you are bagging someone.
On the whole as a team we are a bit hit and miss as we were last season until the run in.

I think it is an option worth looking at.
I think he is slowing down and sometimes looks out of place in centre against younger and faster opposition but SO may give him chance to use his skills again.

Not sure but I'd be prepared to try it. Even if only to keep Sykes on his toes.

Don't know if the original poster went to cas because I thought he had a good game there, very lively with ball and his kicking was good too.He did a good touchline conversion and the nice drop goal.

Sykes is not a natural H/B but does a good job for us, however if Smith is not on top form and the pack is losing he struggles a bit as against Hull. Smith is a bit quicker and has a better short kicking game. He should have replaced Sykes on Monday just after half time IMHO but hindsight is a great gift.

However to call Sykes lazy as the OP did is crass at a phenomenal level.

Picking out one kick and calling a player poor and lazy is a bit of a stretch NG.
His long kicking game is fine. Everybody can miss hit one.

We could all pick a perticular fault out with any player a miss kick a wild pass a poor tackle.The one thing this lot need is a kick up the back side at the moment and to realise in the right frame of mind they can do it as they did at the back end of last season.

It's a common moan that the kick to touch in the modern game is now played much safer and as a result, is shorter; virtually all kickers do it that way now - it's all part of the percentage approach to the game that is now prevalent.

I can only imagine the grief Sykes would be getting if he went against his coaches instructions, tried for maximum length (oo-err missus) and failed to find touch.

Tactical what so we are 50yard away from there line ha ha. Sykes in play kicks go long and often dead his penalty kicks go 3 yard. Im not asking for maximum length with kicks just more than 3 yard.
