What does Dreadnoughts mean and why in the first pic is it spelled dreadnowts?

The Dreadnought was the first non wooden battleship. They were indestructable in comparison to their timber counterparts - hence the name and the reputation.

in the 1884 - 85 picture there are a couple of the gayest looking Rugby players i have ever seen one of them looks like a woman in drag.

When Ray Price was here, he started the Dreadnaughts call. Any player on the field could call it, only a maximum of 4 times during a game, but when someone shouted Dreadnaughts, the whole team had to play at maximum speed and effort for 5 minutes. Often used just before and after half time.
If you knew it existed it was obvious when the call went up. Was a great motivator.

Also, my dad has the Billy Stott picture framed on the wall. Great photo.

got a few snippets about Albert 'Budgie' Firth who also played in two challenge cup finals, apparently he was a bit of an animal on and off field

The old South Bank why did we ever knock it down and build a wall

Great picture of Belle Vue, it’s a shame that south stand and roof was knocked down. Belle Vue wouldn’t get half as much stick if it still had the two stands that were demolished. As an aside, I really think the sponsors adverts on the roof really added some individuality to stadiums, unfortunately, the future will see most clubs playing out of identikit stadiums.

This is all magic, keep it coming. Hate to be nostalgic but looking at things like this really brings home why we are all trying so hard to take us to a new home and to essentially keep this club alive. Seeing this just shows how wakefield trinity has meant so much to so many for so long. Long may it continue.

it come home that we haven't got an album with the club as such and Diane Maskill has given us permission to use what the club already have on their site and I intend to extend this with the help of old programs, I started to think that we wouldn't have any of the old girl Belle Vue when we move on and it dawned on me to get this moving now, we mustn't forget our history, while the mrs was in the club shop ordering my lads away shirt a lady phoned in about some old programs from the 40s

she didn't know what to do with them, I would of gladly put them to use on here

They'd fit in here and in my collection as well!



It makes me laugh when people try sell 80s programmes at a fiver a time on eBay when these are the things are rare!
