Danny Galea -- but we dont have quota space

Good player is Galea, on the fringes of the side too so if you can find a quota spot somewhere could see that happening.

... and there in lies the problem, there are so many contracted for next season that I don’t see how if would fit into the regulations.

Personally i think we need to bulk up our second row, now i know this will set a few of you off but i think we should be in for Jamie Thackray. I know he's played a lot of game time at prop but he worked well in the second row under Kear before?
With his past too it could be seen by some as his last chance saloon so i cant see him commanding a huge wage.

Mark Applegarth has had another good season at York.
Looked the part at Fergusons age but went off the boil hence we released him, could he be maturing a little bit later. Still only 25.

Well actually, I'd rather have Paul Johnson in the second row than Thakray.
Applegarth I'm not sure about. Always thought he was good but lacked that extra something, maybe even just the aggressive/focused attitude needed, but willing to see if age has helped him.

yeah they're my thoughts too. didn't have much more than graft to his game whilst with us but like you say 25 still youngish

hold on here. correct me if i'm wrong but there have been plenty on here advocating (you included?) the retention of the 'underrated' henderson because he's great value for money and a club like ours needs players like him. i cant believe applegarth offers anything less than hendo personally and yet we are soupposed to be aiming higher? make your mind up time

to clarify: the above post is not intended as a criticism of hendo, as despite not necessarily thinking we should of kept him, he has my respect because he always appears to give his best. and you cant ask for more than that

Hendos, tougher, faster, stronger, fitter and IS playing at SL level, apart from that you may be right.

No - I'll take that as criticism of me!



We do need a mix of good and better quality players - especially with our salary cap. In this instance I believe we are looking to improve the quality - but in anycase I can't agree that these players are as good as Hendo.

It is hard to judge how good a player is when he plays in lower leagues.
They can only really be judged once you have taken the risk and thrown them into a Super League game.

Hendo is already there and more than holds his own in the area of the game he plays (i.e. he is not a blockbusting prop, he is a hard working second row)

i was referring specifically to applegarth who when at trin whilst not ripping up trees did not stand out as being completely out of his depth. i must admit i was not bothered when he left but then i wouldn't be if hendo did. for christs sake henderson cant even pass the ball, the most basic of rugby league skills.

I can agree with the 'passing' thing - but running at the line is not a problem for Hendo - in fact I'd say that's what he excels at!
