its looking good cant wait for next season looking forward to seeing Danny boy team up with Newton and George playing on the wing with a decent centre not getting carried away but i do think we have a real chance of silverware next season

Disappointing to bow out after such a promising season but can't complain after the effort the players have put in for the past 7 months. However, the club are now in possibly the most important off season of its history. I can take an early exit from the play offs as long as it's offset with a positive answer from the planning authorities!

at last nights game met up with a friend who hasn't been well for sometime and look cheerful and well, I would just like to say keep up the good recovery bud and its great to see that smile back on your face again

After watching Leeds not get out of first gear on Friday and pull Hull KR apart (injuries before and during notwithstanding), it would be very hard to see past them taking a third successive crown.

Before Saints showed glimpses of their best again last night, I thought this would be the year for a team outside those two to make it to Old Trafford, including us. Now, I'm not so sure...

Doesn't hurt as much as the semi-final defeat last year, but we just need to build on this and make the play-offs again next year.

As a complete generallity, I would say that most of the players leaving were the ones who did not shine last night.

Ollie and Snitch were not great - until the last 20.
Drew - well see my other thread.
Ryan - was immense IMO - he gave it everything!


Grix - tried hard but his passing is poor
Winterstein - didn't threaten

But this isn't about them, it's about those coming in and my point is that I feel that, with the exception of Ryan (and we have a quality centre replacing him), the others will be replaced with better players.

We have much to look forward to!

I have thought for a few weeks that it is going to be a Leeds and Wigan final, and for the last two years, the Grand Final was a nailed on Saints win, so maybe a team out of the top four will do it (although not out of the big four).

Yes, dont be starting any storys like he didnt want to play cos hes moving etc load of crap, he was so injured yesterday, he was dying to be on the field.

without falling into the "he's leaving us so he is rubbish" trap, what is your personal opinion of Atkins. looked good last night and also when you beat us at the HJ. Does he put in good performances every week? What are his strengths and does he have any weaknesses?

I'm not saying he didn't want to play. I only wanted to know when will anyone say he's definately signed for next season?

His contract is for next season its alonger deal we are trying to tie him down on.

Atkins is a consistently good performer. I guess he will get better in the coming years. Strengths - well his strength. Weaknesses - not many in my opinion but some feel he fails to feed his winger often enough.

ryan atkins is a rough diamond, great pace , very strong unfortunately never looks for his winger until after the collision and as a last resort. if smith coaches him into where and when to pass the ball he will be a world beater.

Yes he looked good last night one of our best performers.

No he dosent put in such performances every week, but he is improving.
Stengths - his power, ability to get over try-line from close range, making hard yards.
Weakness, defence - rushing out, getting wrong footed and choosing the wrong man, offloads - an very limited ability to put his wingers in, and when the pressure is on he rushes or offloads in wrong end of field, Footwork.

Only young still progressing not consistent enough, but that will come with time, got potential but for a club of our size he cant be commanding the wages he was on and is on now.

ryans in the wrong position for me, should be a second rower but that's another story now

Ryan has gone as far as he will with us, I'm afraid. He has everything he needs to be a top class centre EXCEPT the brains/instinct - call it what you will. I really hope Tony Smith can take him to the next level, 'cos if he had the instinctive skills of Gidley, Senior or any of the top centres he would be world class.

Got up early on Sunday Morning to catch the back end of the Game... (very late night on Saturday!)

And was a bit dissapointed but reflecting on the I can have no complaints at the developemnt we have shown both as a team and a club...

Fifth in the league... bhome play-off and the best set of juniors ever seen at the club!! and genuine plans for a new stadium.

for the players leaving...

Ryan... enjoyed watching him ain a Trinity Shirt.. an unrefined and raw talent... (not sure he has it in him to become refined... but time will tell)

Brad... wish we had had this guy in his 20s... never quite fired on all cylinders for us but a great hoour for him to wear the Trinity 9.

Scott... had really high hopes after a great world cup, made lots of errors in the last two games, but, to his credit he stuck his hand up and made himself available to be in the position ... suffered from being a utility player IMO

Ricky... along with Moore I thought the club had lost their collective minds when we signed him... I was so so wrong, a players player, does the dirty work and does it well.

Olly... To lose one quality forward named Olly is unfortunate... to lose two is careless... will miss his hard work and honesty.

Matt... oh Matt so so dissapointing... a really good player who just didn't fit!

Jamie... great clubman and super service given... deserves good fortune in his life and I hope he gets it.

Danny... totally spoiled it for himself... !!!

Snitchy... I feel used by him... had a great season but!


Players coming in:

Terry Newton... hated playing against him... not too old to make a real impression.

Glenn Morrison... a genuine world class second row forward... been unlucky with injuries at the Bulls, thel ate season upsurge of form for Bradford ties in with Morrisons return to the team. (and also Newton's injury... just to show the balance)

Shane Tronc... seen this guy a lot this year and he has been monstering the opposition forwards... a really big guy with a subtle offload.

Darryl Millard... cant get in the Bulldogs side, but when you consider that he is being kept out by Dally M winners Jamal Idris and Josh Morris, it shows the environment he has been playing in. Very talented player with magic hands.

Ben Jeffries... return of the prodigal... he is the type of player who splits opinion... but I like him, a proven try scorer and excellent support player.

+1 (Paul Johnson?) quality utility, great role model for the youngsters.

and the kids .... need I say more.
