| Quote ="Scarlet Pimpernell"In principle is different from approving isn’t it. The problem with your argument is that what he is saying yes it sounds a good idea but let’s see how it can be done. It was this part that was initially passed by the coalition later upheld by the Conservatives.
All you can accuse Labour of is setting up the initial process the rest is down entirely to the coalition and the Conservative government’s who agreed the direction, costs and administration of completing the task. If this appears to now be shambolic and expensive the fault lies with the coalition and conservatives.
I believe once the plan was presented by the coalition Darling and many others thought it was too expensive and badly constructed.'"
Yet in the 2019 Labour Manifesto, they were committed to completing the full HS2 route to Scotland.
So Labour had an idea, did like it,so got a report done, after the report they still liked it,so Darling approves in principle moving forward, then Labour lose power and fast forward to 2013 and Darling doesn't like it (its a complete waste of money),fast forward again to 2019 and Labour like it again that much, they commit to completing it,if they get into power...............
We will never know if Labour would have passed it in 2012,because they had already lost control, but one things for sure they still seemed to like their idea in December 2019,but they may well have changed their mind again now as they didn't get into power.
Wait, let me guess, its the Tories fault Labour can't make there mind up ?
Its obvious that to some on here Labour can do no wrong and have never made mistakes or told lies,to some on here every Tory voter "has blood on their hands" or is a racist,or both!!
The country will get the chance to hold the Tories to account at the next GE.

Clearly compared well enough in 2017 and again in December 2019,when Labour promised to support HS2 in their manifestos.
But be my guest if you wish to list all the differences.

We currently have no guarantee of a season if we and several other clubs cannot agree with our players. I am under no illusion what is coming down the track for the club, you heard the chief executive.
With regards the Johnson government I am also under no illusion about them the problem is that their shortcomings have resulted in far too many deaths, like Trump not willing to take any responsibility and of course the world beating track and trace system (how is that going). I could go on but their failures are well documented even if they don’t want to admit it or have a report produced and I suppose whilst there are people like you it is working.

My previous post was a reference to yours and wilzays previous negativity in past seasons, can if I may put you straight on one thing, fortunately we only have one thing in common other than watching Wakey, that is like yourself I despise the Conservatives but unlike you I also despise the labour party as well as all the other crank parties, neither have I any time for the scummy reporters that are that desperate they hang about the front door and knocking on widows hounding people trying to do a job and making things up when it suits, as do the TV media what show you what it wants to, where it seems your perfectly happy to endorse it on here as it suits your political leanings, unless you are that gullible.

Your inability to accept the individual citizens need to show some degree of responsibility tells me all I need to know about you. You are part of that self entitled generation that blames everyone except themselves whilst demanding everything be solved instantly and usually by shaking a none existent money tree.
You seem to have no idea about logistics, public health or the fact that there will always be an element of jeopardy on life. It’s called living in the real world, give it a try matey, you won’t like it because it’s not a Disney production but hey it will catch up with you in the end.

So, there is no correlation between the perceived behavior of those "in charge" and the change in behavior of the masses.
It was all just one huge coincidence ?
As for people taking personal responsibility, of course they should. However, it would appear that huge numbers just aren't capable of doing so.

You kind of argue against yourself there.
It's either your responsibility or you are ok to follow politicians actions blindly.
None of the examples thrown around in the press compare to hundreds of people packing out a pub garden or a beauty spot where there is no social distancing. And to be honest, although the vast majority have followed the rules perfectly well, the minority that mess it up were messing it up before any erroneous actions by politicians.

I agree with Willzy that "the wheels came off" when Cummings went on his infamous "eye test drive" to Bambugh Castle.
Shortly after this, Johnson& Co were massively encouraging people to get out to the pubs and seemed surprised that people were less socially distant when they'd had a few, which was crazy.
People should take personal responsibility but, the mixed messaging and example set by high ranking Government officials, makes it extremely easy for people to justify "doing their own thing", rather than behaving "properly".
In hindsight, although it's not rocket science, the relaxation on travel should have been more gradual.
However, this became impossible when Cummings went of on his trip to the in laws farm and suddenly, everyone was "allowed" to go as far as they wished. Most of the restraint, that, in general terms, had been excellent, suddenly went out of the window.
So, yes, people should take personal responsibility but, it should be EVERYONE, especially those who dictate the rules.

| We now have the situation where office workers are being used as COVID laboratory mice sacrificed at the altar of the economy. The instruction now is for firms to order workers to return to work so that they can once again roam town centres buying. What has changed since the stay at home because the testing is still somewhat shambolic and the track and trace is not fit for purpose.
I expect that most companies will continue to instruct their staff to work from home because it is safer and apparently more productive and it would be them who would be held responsible.

No they haven't.
They are encouraging people back to work if it is safe.
They've put pressure on companies to deep clean and if they do they can get people back in the office.
Its no good getting hairdressers back and shops opening if no one can go.
Furlough can't last forever so if they don't encourage people back to work in safe environments then we'll have millions out of work and businesses going bankrupt.

| Somebody actually thinks that 2 or 3 politicians behaving poorly during lock down are responsible for 10,000 people turning up at a beach in Bournemouth, 50 BLM loon statue busting "protests" and god knows how many house party's in Manchester, Birmingham and London ?
I mean...seriously, people should take responsibility for their own stupidity, not use political idiots to justify their stupidity, and definitely don't pick one in particular when there have been several just because it fits a political agenda.

| The one in question was the one who wrote the rules that’s the problem. I am afraid that after several weeks of following the restrictions to learn that the man who wrote it then broke it and to make matters worse didn’t care that he did. The final insult was to come up with the lamest excuse possible despite the time elapsed.
It was obvious that those looking for an excuse were given one because like many said if it’s good enough for him it is good enough for us and how do you argue against it whatever you may personally believe
