Probably not Wollo but it would give added interest to players who have served the club well and are coming to the end of a playing career.
With C Cs young age I don't think asst coach will appeal to many older coaches and to appoint a younger coach from outside the club when we have players who could fit the bill just doesn't fit for me

I think finn is coaching the reserves/academy

Personally don't see the point in even trying, Kear was unique.

25 years coaching experience at all levels.

Huge local knowledge.

Proven track record in spotting missed talent.

Long term affinity with the club.

Brilliant politician.

If you can find me anyone else in the UK game with those credentials then fine - but I cant. Money and effort would be better spent elsewhere imho.

Webster is a good coach and would be a good assistant.

Lots of sentimentality coming across with the suggestions. With the exception of JD, I can't see MC wanting to spend money "for old times sake".

JD's got a good record as a assistant! But cant see him coming back as a assistant.

No, I think he's a good RL coach especially as an assistant where there's not as much pressure.

I guess the million dollar question is what was kear employed for in the first place?

I'm assuming it was to add his experience of coaching at all levels in order to get a general overview of the club's players top to bottom and identify any potential improvements enabling each head coach to focus solely on their squad...

I don't think a Webster would fit that bill. Although it depends whether the club wants to replace that role like for like, or with just an assistant coach

Personally I'd like to see an attack minded backs coach.
The other guys have the forwards. Chester needs to be a higher level and have someone a bit like him to run the skills side so he can step away.
A bit like I imagine Danny Orr is for Powell.

I think the coach who is coaching Wakefield ladies (WH)currently could be in with a shout! And knows CC too, just depends on his coaching qualifications I’m guessing............ a possibility while not breaking the bank

We do have Gilmour that fits that bill to some extent, although he moved into the pack. I generally agree though, I think finding a former good halfback/back who's now moved into Coaching and wants to continue his development at an SL club would be beneficial . Tbh though I've really racked my brain to think of a coach/ex SL players who's moved into Coaching that could do that job and it's hard. Most of the guys that come to mind are former Coaches that are out of work and I don't think that's what we're looking for.

Anyone got any names just to kick things off while there's not much to talk about and what you think they'd bring to what we already have?

I got the impression that Kear spent a fair bit of time coaching the defensive structures, or at least that is what Chester said in previous interviews. It gave me the impression that Chester's strength is attacking structure and we have a gap on the defensive side. I certainly thought our defence improved notably last season with Kear here. Now that Kear has gone that is the one area of our game I have concern about, will it still be as good this season?

Well, it seems although the Club has had some good applicants aleady they're in no rush & if the perfect applicant doesn't appear, the money may be used to strengthen the squad.
On what JK did when he was here, CC has saaid this.



So as most of us thought at the time, Jk was involved in the defensive side of things and CC the attacking side with Glimour assisting Jk and Dickens CC. Hopefully, the likes of CC, Gilmour, and Dickens have managed to pick JK's brains enough while he was here that we see no downturn in our defensive structures.
