The announcement is the signing of Sykes

I have called for a goalkicker as much as anyone and there is no doubting Sykes' ability in that department BUT where are you going to play him? He's no better than the present centres, if as good and he's certainly no stand-off.
As somebody else has said Isaac John has changed his style and is a better kicker for it. I'd stick with John but not my call and I'll still watch 'em even if Sykes signs!

Collis seems to have hamstrings like guitar strings. I'd expect Sykes to be a centre and decent back up kicker

It's always good to have options and they're always injuries to deal with but atm he wouldn't get in the side, handy to have around but that's about it.

So instead we bring in another back, who because of his ‘iconic’ kicking status will presumably displace one of the current one to seven.

The only problem with this plan is he isn’t as good as any of the current back line.

My only hope is he’s just coming as the kicking coach.

We saw what a fit Collis could be like e.g challenging for Smith's kick and flicking back for Fox to score.

I think it's a given that if a prop that's of a good enough decent standard becomes available, we'd snap him up but I suppose we just have to patient. Thinking about it, although Sykes isn't exactly what we wanted, if John got injured we would be in deep trouble as far as goal kicking.

But his injuries need time to heal. No point playing injured as you won't be effective and will have the crowd on your back as they won't know the true story. He has gone off twice and not played once due to his hammys. All I'm saying is that the omens don't look positive and Sykes could be a better fix for us in the centres

Looks like Collis is struggling for the weekend and so Sykes is a ready made replacement who has been playing 1st team rugby, we've also a busy period coming up over Easter - seems fine to me (bring Lucas on slowly and don't throw him in as the finished article)

Happy enough with Sykes signing on loan, gives us better depth in a variety of positions and with Collis struggling it gives us chance to rest him until he's fully fit. It also gives us another kicking option because despite the improvement in Johns' kicking performance in the last couple of weeks i'm still not convinced its a job he enjoys.

Definitely the signing of Sykes. Been brought in to put pressure on the current centres and probably replace Collis for a week or two as its clear he's struggling at the moment, think when the back line is fully fit he'll struggle to get in.

Thing is a lot of people were asking for a kicker to be brought in pronto, now one supposedly has a lot of folks won't like it simply because John's had a good couple of games with the boot. Like I said before we need backup for John for not only if he gets injured but also if he loses this new found form of his, which could happen because he's still fairly new to it.

Squad looking ok, considering Motu Tony and Ellis have not featured yet. Sykes and a forward and we start looking like having adequate cover for a couple of injuries

Not saying Sykes is a world beater far from it but hes decent backup at centre or fullback and he is a good goal kicker hope he brings Burgess with him

Yes it does, like you said on another thread Mason would round things off nicely if he did turn out to be available.

Decent cover for us. Not a bad signing IMO.

Got to say i'm pleased with sykes

He's English, can kick and offers cover in a fair few positions, great editon to the squad

He's not had the best time at Bradford, though this seems very much due to being played out of position

A move to a new club is exactly what he needs

They haven't yet committed to being able to pay any of their staffs wage this month, let alone a player sent out on loan!!

There is talk of it being a similar deal to the Mathers one with a percentage still being payed by Bradford. Whether that is correct I don't know.
