| Quote ="Theboyem"There was two cock ups from Sykes, the shocker of a pass into touch when a try was certain and the missed kick to touch. Apart from that he probably was the most threatening he's been all season. Aiton was non-stop, although his passing from dummy half isn't the best his running game was good.
The worry for me is the forwards. Amor, Washbrook & Raleigh look way below par, Wilkes is average and is it my imagination or is Kirmond carrying a little extra timber this year? Annaklin and Lauitiiti apart out forwards lack punch and are getting easily dominated. The need to up their game sharpish.'"
Washbrook was injured (didn't anyone else apart from me and TRB notice the extra padding he had stuffed down the back of his shirt, and the fact that he was holding his back just before he got subbed)....Raleigh and Kirmond still not back to full fitness either...a run out for Mariano next week methinks !!!

| You are just been silly now. Cockyne has much more to offer in that position I would try him there. Sykes has done a job thats made smith look good because Isac John was so terrible. Sykes at Full bk. He is not a stand off.

| Playing BC at Stand off will just dimish his value.
He has never in my recollection played there.
His skill is his running game when at SO we need a passer
He isn't a field position kicker we'll still have to move Sykes back up on the last play
For me that is school boy tactics where you move the best players as near the ball as you can and sod everyone oustide with the worst on the wing.
Smith or Sykes at stand off. don't mess with the rest.

He's looked injured for a couple of weeks. Makes you wonder why Agar seems insistant on playing unfit players when replacements are available.

| After looking at the highlights there is not just one player you can single out. Tim smith misses a tackle they score off and another where I wouldn't give him the blame as damage was done before he had to tackle. Mellars misses one to let's Myler through to put ratchford in. Another Lynn misses. And another Ben cockayne yet again doesn't trust his centre and flys in leaving wing free. There are others as well but to single out a player for leaking 41 points I really question your sanity. Would suggest your really think before posting as you are the laughing stock of this forum.

I know what you mean about the passing. He has certainly been better and has sent some shockers recently.
I disagree about the kicking though. We have a very good long kicking game and is a big part of our game plan.
The short kicking game is in question and should be left to those that can as too many are trying.
Kicking to touch....well I don't feel quite as strongly as you but he has done some poor ones of them too.
Rather than drop him I'd be giving him long extras at training to get that right.
And in the mean time I'd put Lee Smith there and Sykes to full back. I think Smith will bring innovation to the role too.
BC I'd leave on teh wing or put to fullback. He is an exceptional runner of the ball.

Most of us said this before the game Sunday. Might have worked for us too ...

Just for you; 368 points by way of 92 tries.
Just for the record.

| I think your way off the mark her NG, just watch the highlights to see how influential Skyes was, he did some great passes and scored two good tries. Yes he missed touch but on the whole our kicking was a lot better than Warrington's, how many times did they kick dead in play? How many times did they kick out on the full? I think you are being harsh.
On another note, I still think Westwood dropped the ball so shouldn't have got another six, and their next try was from a forward pass #robbedagain

2 forward passes, the first one was the short ball, followed by the ball out to the right wing.
I didn't leave feeling that we were robbed but, there we plenty of what if's.

| I'd like to see the penalty against Mellars for the high shot. It looked like nothing more than a grab. Warrington scored from the resulting penalty.

| Cokayne came played in the halfs all throughout his amature days, Although he was named number 1 for the robins in national league he played more than half of the season in the halfs - So theres more to that than you think. I think he would go well there
And what better time to give him ago than against a low division club this weekend?
However at this moment in time i would go with Lee smith to 6 - seems like a solid option and showed up well at cas in the second half at 6.

| Lee Smith is a much better option at 6 than Ben Cockayne IMO. He is a very intelligent player and is willing to try something a bit different at times if needed - as per the little kick through on Sunday that resulted in a try.
I'd be happy to see him there and Sykes at Fullback to try it out, but putting Cockayne into the 6 position just doesn't seem right to me.

| I think Sykes is a good strong runner when he attacks the line (he should do it far more than he does). He has centre strength. London he made his name at fullback he was a excellent fullback and is a good tackler he would make more 1 on 1 tackles than mathers without a doubt. However I don't rate him as a passer of the ball I think his creative kicks are non existant and the whole penalty kicks are just bizarre but this is Agars fault he should demand that Lee Smith was to find touch it is clear Sykes has issues at the moment (kicking the ball into the stand) for 3 weeks now he has had issues. People deep down must agree.

| Slight change of subject but as we are going in circles a bit I thought I'd throw something in.
I wondered whether Agar tried it before but I think a good option as stand off next year would be Richard Horne.
He hasn't got a lot of years left but I think he would be an excellent foil for Smith. I don't know how long he has left at Hull but I can't imagine they'll be offering him anything long term.
Just a thought but he's experienced, has a running and passing game. British and has worked with Agar before.
Only downside is recent injuries but they seem to be sorted now.

| I understand what you are saying but for me he's too injury prone and he will only get worse with age. It would be a massive gamble imo.

| Paul Sykes is not even in the top 50 for try assists, with ten other stand offs in there in front of him. Now with T Smith on eight assists, it is obvious Sykes is not unlocking defences, really hope he tries L Smith at s/o for stags game.
