| Italian football clubs share grounds. With no football team in the area to share with it appears it could be the only solution.

Neither will happen if either is reliant on any govt grant, lottery grant or european grant for the capital build, simple as that.

| Quote ="Sandal Cat"As I see it we have little choice but to stick with Newmarket. Newmarket is deliverable with full support from the Council and in my opinion could receive planning consent in a matter of months with Council support. I do not think there will be a public inquiry if the Council is fully behind the scheme but there lies the problem. I believe the Council are delaying matters so as to force us to Glasshoughton.
Glasshoughton needs funding from Newmarket and I believe the only way Glasshoughton can happen is if it becomes the Wakefield District Community Stadium.
I'd tell the Council to "shove it" and we wish to continue with Newmarket. If that means that both us and Castleford fail to get a franchise then so be it. Or the Council could support Newmarket like they promised and we would see a Stadium equidistant from both Wakefield and Castleford that could be the Wakefield & District Community Stadium.
Newmarket or nothing for me and if its nothing so be it.'"

| Says it all when some fans on here are willing to sacrifice their Super League licence and potentially their future by not switching to their rivals.
Admire the loyalty but if it comes down to it, what would you rather have? Watching SL rugby in Cas or if the worst comes to pass a small club?

You have to laugh, you really do. No doubt the next time that little soundbite reappears, we'll hear Lazio and Roma instead.

Option 2 for me. I don't follow Trinity because they're in SL. Going to Cas will finish the club any how.

I think it's nailed on it would lead to a merger, maybe not straight away but i think in the space of 2 or 3 years it would happen. Then we would have all these arguments again about what the merged team would be called, well i will put my suggestion for that forward now I would call the side Calder & Aire Seagulls. That way i think it would be fair to both sides but the only thing is i cant think what you could call the team for short, does anyone have any ideas ?

| Without knowning all the details, I understand that Wakefield and Castleford scored the same amount of points in the first set of franchises, and nothing has changed since then. The biggest difference this time is that Wakefield will get the 'Contributionto league' point for averaging 8th+ over the last 3 seasons where as Castleford would stuggle for this even if they finished 8th this time, meaning Wakefield would be (just) ahead.
So even we we agree to a ground share in cas, Castleford could find them selves replace in Super League. After all the RFL won't want to two teams playing in the same stadium when a Widnes or Barrow could come up. The fairest way to choose this team would be the one with the most points.
Saying that I would support a team playing full time in shared stadium Castleford (just like Cas fans at Newmarket). I'd just about accept Oakwell (if this is the plan B) if it was for a season, but not full time.

Nobody knows the criteria and I would assume it would be refined for over the licence period, not inclusive of any time before that. Therefore Wakefield would be ahead based on the first year but if Cas finish above Wakefield this season it would be 1-all. Although, there seems to be some confusion as a few people seem to think that one season finishing in the eight would qualify you for that point, which would mean Cas and Wakey are equal.

Rather have Wakefield Trinity playing in Wakefield regardless of the division.

So we finished 8th last season, we stand a good chance of finishing 8th this season. Average........er..........8th!

Think thats the most likely outcome now, to be honest i dont care Ive had enough of SL / grounds / NIMBYS / SWAG etc etc, the whole thing is just politics and has been to the detriment of the sport we watch, this isnt a team we are watching now its a bloody franchise, and in my honest opinion I think we have invested way too much time and effort in to the battle for thornes and newmarket ESPECIALLY if it did not stand up without council help, as it would now appear neither did, and far too little in the playing side of the club.

| The whole saga has Rodney Walker written all over it, the man has been pushing for a ground share for months. I wouldnt be surprised if the worm wasnt in favour of a merger too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The game in going to lose a hell of a lot of supporters from both teams depending on where the stadium is built, if it ever is.
I agree with the featherstone poster the championship is looking better than ever, a real sporting division without the obvious bias of the Superleague. You lot stay at Belle Vue and we will stay darnt lane, and let battle recommence in the championship, sticking two fingers up to Superleague at the same time.
The Superleague is killing the game and they can do it without our help
