| Well let’s be true here that KR are a poorer team than we sre. Haven’t they finished below us in 5/6 last seasons. They’re pretty much a more struggling team than we are. Not really ambitious but must be the money talking.
They have a good one with Batch though.

| Quote ="WakiWaki"New to board. Very disappointed by the loss of aydin and Batch who are both waki lads but it happens and I would like to think the club has a plan and the younger guys such as Eseh can fill the gap left behind in the not too distant future. Just out of curiosity would most people be ok with losing Batch and Aydin if say Murphy and Hall can get long term extensions and the thought of Eseh / Shaw getting more game time'"
That is exactly how it is!
It's a fine line balancing the budget...I liken it to selecting a dream team at either football or rugby...you start with a big pot....pick some quality players then before you know it you've hardly got any of your money left and still have about 4-5 players to fit in so have to go back and lower your sights a little...
Aydin is an improving player but he's well down the pecking order and the people who control the budget can only assign so much to each player...Hall and Murphy should be the two big priorities to tie down to longer contracts as they are both players you can see attracting plenty of interest from many clubs in the coming seasons...if keeping those two with much improved terms means having to let Aydin go then I can live with that decision. I'm also not that sure he'll get more first team opportunities there than if he'd have stayed...we'll have to wait and see...

| Think they must have jumped at the money and you can not blame them.
I don't see KR much if any better than us but they must have sold the club and a new coach to them.
On reflection I think we should have kept them and shown our intension.

Incorrect.

And they have an academy. Hull and Hull KR played today.

For all those brownie points they still have finished below us in 5 of the last 6 seasons. The exception being the anomalous % table.
They have just had a "well regarded" coach call it a day due some mystery behind the scenes shenanigans.
I guess they are playing catch up regarding the academy as they did go with a joint Hull area one when FC were the preferred end choice of any decent prospect. Then they were one of the teams who weren't given an elite licence. The age group of the likes of Aydin and Batchelor where they must be light?

I'd forgotten about the elite license thing.

If you look at this years final league tables the KR Academy side have ended up about half way so that's not too bad.
Their reserves side were almost rock bottom with only London and Newcastle below and I guess this is where they have a shortage of "Aydins" ?

| Teams can only carry so many "project/potential" players. That's even truer in the forward positions.
Here's a choice - you can keep Eseh or Aydin;
Who do YOU keep, and invest in for the future?

Our academy’s productivity has been really poor for a while. I’ve got a nasty feeling I’ll miss somebody here, but of our academy products who debuted in the 2010s, I can only think of Liam Salter, Jordan Cox and George Lawler who have made 100 SL appearances. Frankie Mariano and James Green very got close (I’m assuming the numbers on Wikipedia are correct, which I know is not always the case). Of those, only Lawler is still in SL, with Cas. Joe Cator could still get there but has had bad luck with injuries while at Hull. Mikey Lewis debuted in 2019 and I’d expect him to get there, all being well.
There’s a lot of optimism that things are going to get much better. Without some explanation as to why the previous decade yielded so few players who made any sort of impact in SL and what is now being done differently I’m hopeful rather than confident. I mean, I’d expect it to get better just because the bar is so low. But it’d be a massive leap to go from that to where it’d make a substantial difference to our chances of being more competitive.

Not really going to say too much here, as it will only go one way.
They’re doing something right, they’re averaging around 7600 this year, a figure we could only dream of. They have a big rivalry with their near and dear neighbours, and by a lot are seen as a lesser clubs, probably underdog comes to mind. Hiull FC average about 12000. Hull also has a reasonably competitive football team, who have been in the top flight in recent years.
I would say that since they originally came up to super league, their win ratio is slightly higher, over this time. The also, all being it, got a hammering, have had a challenge cup final.
I think they get their marketing about right, especially when a new estate went up, did some flyers with offers, and sent the players out into the community, delivering them.
Finally, all clubs have a pocket, or a minority, that are so called fans, when they are just morons. We have some ourselves

| From what I've been told there was no real difference between the two offers financially, he's apparently a bit peeved about his lack of game time this year and Poching hasn't given him any indication he'll be a regular next season either.
Now I rate Aydin, and definitely think he has the potential to go on and have a good career. But even at this stage I don't think he's ready for a regular spot. In my opinion have handled his progression well, a drip feed of games and he improves every time we see him. If he's wanting to play week in week out he'll need to hit the ground running at Rovers, and I just hope for his sake he hasn't made the wrong call. Their expectations will be higher than for a similar aged player coming through the ranks.

Firstly many congratulations on securing your Super League status much deserved and I an pleased that a historic and proud club like yourselves has yet again defied predictions and in the end with a bit to spare.
I'm disappointed you feel the way you do about my club Hull Kingston Rovers I certainly don't feel that way about you.

| I remember attending a cup quarter final at Belle Vue in 1974 (?) v HKR … I was scared shirtless …. But I was only a young teenager..
Always been a bit wary of Rovers since… although I did go away to the old and current stadiums on more than one occasion

| I've never had a problem with a Hull KR supporter and been going there since 1980.
Their ground now is just right for their club. I like going there.
