The key to a great season is winning the games we ought to win and winning the odd game we perhaps shouldn't. Last year was great because we won the games we should and picked up the odd scalp, like Saints and Wigan away.

Catalans won't be panicking yet. This time last year, Leeds were hammered by Cas, remember. It's now how you start, but how you finish. I suspect they'll look more for a complete performance than all-out for a win, because that is something to build on for later on.

Of all the teams not starting well, I'd be most concerned if I were a Cas fan. They have a settled coach and squad and should be kicking on. Trouble behind the scenes, it seems, and a Grand Final hangover.

Although it's still very early in the season, Catalan have performed well under the quality of a top 8 side.
Certainly no disgrace in going down 21 12 to Saints, plenty will faire a lot worse than that but, a 23 4 reverse at KR and 40 12 defeat at Widnes, both clubs who many believe will be in the qualifiers at the end of the season, are very poor results.
These results, on their own, wont define Les Cats season but, McNamara wont be sleeping too well "at this moment in time".
Let's hope they dont find their form this weekend and that Trinity cab bag another 2 points before some tougher fixtures.

Both Cats and Wire have payed an extra game, after 2 games, there wasn't nothing between Cats and Wakey except the points on the board, we'll pull their pants down if we cut the pens and errors, if not, its far less certain how it'll pan out.

between round 7 to 11 I am tipping we lose a few if not all - but that wont matter if we are 5-1 when round 7 comes along- which I think we need to be if we have top 4/8 aspirations.

Will be interesting to see which Catalans players are back from injury, Micky Mac, Sam Moa, Anderson plus several others were all missing against Hull KR. Would be helpful if they were just not quite ready for this Sat. At home with main players fit Catalans will be a tough team to beat. I would suggest that we are going to have improved on our ball retention, game management and discipline if we are going to come home with the spoils. As stated we have not played well and are 2 from 2 , keep improving and we will be a match for anyone.

what happens if the best we have got is what we have shown in the first 2 games - this week will see that- fast track over there so no excuses - we should be fresh and ready to roll.

sorry but my opinion at the moment from what I have seen of us and the rest of the comp we will be in a fight to make top 8.

Probably not far off. Would probably have us maybe 4 to 6 point favourites. We're certainly a better team than they are but they're at home so I think we probably just have a slight edge.

I have us down for a more comfortable victory, 10-12 points, which will easily clear the handicap.
Mind you, this is Wakefield and if we are not known for doing it easy and in years gone by, we would always come un done if we had the favourites tag.
Thankfully, this does seemed to have changed over the past couple of seasons and Catalan and in particular, McMamara, are increasingly under pressure.

90% of SL players are good, it's the teams they play for that make them look poor.

5% of players are great in any team.

5% are awful no matter what team they are in.

So it's the team and not the player that matters most IMHO.

If they replace 5 awful players with 5 good or great ones (mind you, i'm not sure they have too many of those), they will improve and they would expect to be a little better with those mentioned by "Belly".

We still have plenty in the forwards to win this one and with Johnstone and BJB, who had a wow of a game there last season, in the squad, we should still come away with the points.

Vasty is correct, team spirit, desire etc make the team. We have that which is good, not sure if Catalans have gelled into a unit all working towards a common goal, if and when they do they will be good team.

None of them would get in our starting 13. McIlorum would be would be the closest.

If both sides are at their absolute best, I’d expect us to win this. If we’re not it’s going to be a tough one.
