It would appear that 90% of the content of these threads seems to concentrate on the fact that WMDC (spit) have let down about 4000 Trinity fans of which I am one, but surely the bigger picture is that THEY HAVE BADLY LET DOWN 326,000 other citizens. It was supposedly a COMMUNITY STADIUM for the use of all, and it is for this reason more than any other that this so-called council of ours have behaved disgracefully and should be ashamed of themselves whatever their party politics.

That's the thing, what we actually need it a full stadium with ample parking and 4G/hockey pitches surrounding it. Wakefield needs to establish a football team and a rugby union team as well as a successful rugby league club. We need all of the major sports in the city so young and old can engage and participate all sports

That would be the ideal place for a stadium and pitches, unfortunately that plan was ditched over a decade ago, and now we're left with a half-assed stadium miles from the city which probably isn't going to happen anyway

Someone mentioned Rugby Union team in the city. How about getting our heads together with Sandal.

As for hockey, wasnt the hockey team based around College Grove, though dont spend much time around there and dont think there is a lot of land round there.

The land moving away from College Grove heading up North Avenue toward Pinderfields is quite vast.

There is also quite a bit of room around Sandal RUFC

Indeed, what we really need is a true multi-use and multi-sports facility from a community stadium, in all honesty, I don't think that's what Newmarket was offering. At the minute we have the support of ≈ 4000 RL fans, but if a new football club could be established in the city, as well as developing the RU clubs to make them push towards the top leagues then we'd see the support for a true stadium for the city increase ten fold. The city deserves sporting facilities and clubs of a quality to match the amazing arts facilities it has

Exactly, divided then none of the sports will ever fully suceed in the city, but together they stand a chance of success. Sadly I think we're probably the worst off even though we're the only one at the top. I'd guess all of the other sports clubs in the area either own or are in stable rent of their grounds.

Some will never believe us, but every time we said we hoped to give news, we meant it, and I'm sorry that we haven't been able to divulge more. It's easy to pour scorn on the efforts of those who have fought and still do fight for the best we can achieve out of this. Just bear in mind the efforts made when making comments on here - we read them frequently and we are often damned if we do and damned if we don't make comment.

Some may argue that it should have all been done differently, and perhaps, in hindsight, we would do plenty differently ourselves, but we have done nothing other than try something that others just talk about and, for those that are interested - yes, we have invited others to join, but few are prepared to commit / can afford the time it takes.

The whole thing could get very interesting over the next few weeks - one way or another!

Phil, you have absolutely no need to justify yourself or your efforts. Those who pour scorn have no idea of the magnitude of effort and work you have provided. You stepped up and tried your damnedest.

Don't worry about it TRB - those pouring scorn are pretty inadequate tbh. Like you say, even if it comes to nothing - at least you had a crack while they did nothing but snipe on the internet. Must be coming on 15 years you've been going at it as well. I think most fans appreciate the efforts you and the others have put in

The second to last paragraph is very interesting about the issue could become interesting over the next couple of weeks.

I am a glass half full person so lets hope and fingers crossed. More so with a few positive comments made on here by M62 J30 recently regarding the stadium.

I have no clue what goes on behind the scenes regarding this, nor have I have offered to assist in my own free time.
Hence I would never pour scorn on those that have (and still are).
I appreciate it's frustrating not knowing what is going on but I'm sure those frustrations should not be levelled at those
doing everything that they can to try and resolve this long standing issue.

Just like to add my appreciation for the efforts of TRB and others.Often feel guilty for not doing more,but work commitments and then living in France for nearly 10 years dictated otherwise.Keep at it TRB and colleagues.

I don't see anyone pouring scorn - the vitriol seems, quite rightly, to be directed at YCP and WMDC.

My only (unanswered) question is how the (then) Trust fell for the obvious strategy cooked up by both parties to get Newcold on a separate application, which was subsequently waved through by WMDC; that's the point at which the whole plan fell apart from our perspective.

I can understand the dullard Elston not spotting it - but wasn't Rodney Walker in that meeting? Surely he's a shrewd enough operator to have seen straight through it - and yet there was no objection?

I don't think I can recall any pouring scorn or showing any type of disregard to any of the members involved in the negotiations.
The whole aspect of any campaign must be to release certain information on a fairly regular basis and unfortunately that for what ever reason simply has not been the case.
That leads to frustration and eventually people loosing interest.
The time allocated by all the Trinity participants should be applauded and hopefully will be rewarded with a favourable outcome.
