I think it came not long after the cuts to grassroots after we saw a reduction in funding from Sport England. Ok the 600k was probably a drop in the ocean in comparison but it could have done some use and probably saved some jobs.

No we're talking about circa £646k shortfall in relation to your initial comment claiming a 1.2m difference in central funding
Quote ="Bully_Boxer"And I don't think it's really too wise making clever comments about our ability to fulfil fixtures given your own recent financial troubles, do you?'"
I think you'll find we took corrective measures as a club to ensure our continued existence in the top flight whilst your team employed the "ostrich" tactics, no a clever comment at, more an observation of what is happening

Didn't Nigel Wood also give himself a raise at about the same time?
The NFP clubs rallied around and gave Wakefield approx £230K which if I remember correctly equated to around 30% of the central funding received by the other SL clubs

Well the RFL reckoned they bought it for market value at the time so I'll have to take their word for it unless somebody with experience in such deals can prove otherwise? The Bulls certainly weren't the first club to have their stadium bought by the RFL.

I don't disagree with that, the money was withheld by the RFL and SLE and should have been used for a better purpose, however that isn't the argument here

So not 46K, like you stated. So yes it'll be 646k last year and the same again this year unless anything changes. So 1.3M.

So not the 1.2m you stated and unless you're Doctor Who/HG wells or Marty Mcfly, you can't possibly know if it will be £1.3m

If i remember rightly the Div 1 clubs chipped in to help us out and then we did the dirty on them by voting for a closed shop.
I may be wrong but it went something like that.
That same year Bradford took its share of Sky money and had no concern for our plight.

Not to mention the fact that doing the deal on the quiet when the club was clearly on a financial cliff edge, could be viewed by an external body as the RFL asset stripping, thereby robbing the clubs creditors (including the HMRC) of any chance of compensation should the club go into administration.
The conduct of the RFL and the many and various Directors of the Bulls throughout this whole debacle has been nothing short of scandalous.

| I think that too many people involved with the Bulls wether it be supporters ,past players ,RFL,think that they are too bigger club to suffer any demotion, but if everything is true that as been said regarding the latest plight then I find it hard to see what can be done to save them, unless DRGoulash wants another project.

| The big disaster for the RFL would be a club folding mid-season. That may have helped us, in that we went bang as the season was starting, as so the RFL were probably ecstatic to see Glover (as fans were, at the time).
The biggest risk for the Bulls is that the RFL draw a line across the calendar and say "commit by this date or you are out", but Bradford will be helped by London limping along, as the RFL will want to include them. If the season draws to an opening weekend, the RFL will do all it can to keep everything afloat until October.
As a rugby league fan, I'm pleased about that, provided that Bradford are compelled to be financially viable (i.e, losses aren't propped up to keep a full salary-capped team on the park).

Agreed. The circumstances of the undeclared loan of 700k, the failure to make one repayment, the effective seizure of the lease by the RFL and the cover story (property developer vultures circling iconic ground) which was demonstrably untrue, is one of the modern scandals of rugby league.
The RFL should never have loaned the money, never have bought the lease and never supported the Quest for Survival, knowing the club were insolvent. Had the club entered administration when it requested the loan, the club could have been rescued with a great deal more of its asset base in tact, including its contracted Sky money for 2013/14. A key reason the clubs have voted in the way they have (apart from naked self interest) is the loan and purchase of the lease, which they were not consulted about. This has made the recovery of the club all but impossible and left the support base demoralised and suspicious of everything. Ultimately, the money from the loan, lease, QfS went down the drain of an inept BoD, who admited they were losing £100k a month, watched and supported by a complicit RFL.
The RL press were nothing short of pathetic in covering this story.

What an absolute mess and while its easy to blame the RFL they really don't seem to help themselves.
They have dug themselves into a very deep iconic hole by trying to save the Bulls and it seems they done more harm than good to the club.
Unless a rich man strolls into town or they release whatever players they can to balance the books its not going to end well.

| Releasing players is easier said than done as MC pointed out when we were struggling and posters were looking for us to release Fox.
Bradford have got quite a lot of new players coming in, maybe they should have done with these players what we did with Tuson.
Now with just over a month to go to the start of the season, can't see any players going anywhere, unless they get their 'new' contract at another club subsidised by an outside source.

| Maybe the RFL will come up with a merger between Bradford and what was London with them being called Bradford Broncos and playing half of their games at iconic odsal and ther other half at Barnet. The newly formed club getting the combined sky income and a sweetener for merging.
Obviously I am joking, but you never know with the RFL

It is a shameful mess for which responsibility lands primarily with the BoD and in particular Peter Hood. Nevertheless, who in their right mind at the RFL gave him £700k, considering he had already halved the club's support, is one of the great unresolved issues of this fiasco. The 'saving an iconic ground' is an outright and intentional lie.
You're right, they made a very bad situation into a potentially terminal one.

One could say the the individual who has the sport's future in his hands has potentially two SL clubs demise on his CV, either directly or indirectly. I hope the rebels club force the guy to fall on his sword. Whether or not the sport can then move forward is to be seen, but it stands a better chance without Wood controlling matters.

Thought it was Wood? He's been CEO since 2007, I think Lewis took a back seat approach when he was appointed Chair of Sport England before he left for the LTA in April 2012. Possible he was still running things I guess. Point remains though Wood needs to go.

Spot on.
It is a shame Wakefield are lining up with Gary Hetherington and Nigel Wood rather than the rebel clubs. Few Wkefield fans appear keen to allow Wood to continue unchecked.

Lets remember Mr Wigans motives More money for SL clubs only. now to some that's ok but lets look at the bigger picture, RL as a whole seems to be on it's knees, and this is on the back of a very successful world cup. maybe the problem isn't the RFL but the man in charge Mr wood. get rid of him fine but to bring Gary Hetherington's name in to it works how?? Can anyone name a person who has done as much or has super league's best interests at heart..
Yes I am a Leeds fan, but maybe Leeds fans are well placed to comment given what he has done with our club!!!!
