| Quote ="bren2k"Absolutely right - I can't see how this is a negative thing; for those people who have payday timing issues, put it on a card, pay it off when you get paid, avoid the interest. I fail to see how anyone can reasonably expect the club to manage their finances for them - it's another opportunity to get your ST at an absolute bargain price, so it's up to you to make it work!
If I were running the club, I wouldn't be making such a generous discount offer at all - ST's for 2014 would be in the £200 region, with a good range of benefits from commercial partners.'"
Why, the club are expecting the fans to manage theres for them by unexpectedly releasing the tickets on a date earlier than ever before then giving less than a fortnight to get them in! Why the rush all of a sudden? What do they need the brass for so urgently that the deadline could be until, say, the end of August as would be usual? Surely the uptake would be better this way. I know of 4 people already that won't be getting them in the time frame as the funds are just not there. A little more notice and they without doubt would have.
If they had given notice that the tickets would be out earlier then maybe people could have prepared by not, say, having just put a holiday on said credit card! So if me and the better half get a membership each this year it looks like i'll have to wait til they are more pricey and the gap will be made up by us either not buying a replica shirt each this year or cancelling club 1873. Sadly the club would lose out that way but so be it.
Not everyone has pots of spare cash and credit lying around and if they do they may just have other, more important things that crop up it needs spending on.

| Quote ="pocket 4's"Not sure why you feel the need to get so frustrated with a few people expressing some concerns with this. Of course its a good price but my concern is that this offer just seems to have appeared from nowhere with a very short deadline - it just doesn't feel right to me and doesn't look well planned. For example my parents have just gone on a holiday and will come back to see the news with a day to spare - I doubt my dad is likely to make a snap decision to buy given he has probably spent his spare cash on beer and ice creams.
To me it doesn't make a great deal of difference, I just don't like being rushed into things. But I want the club to succeed and continue to grow and imo the best way to do that is through a consistent season ticket policy where supporters know where they are in terms of price and timescale, so upping the price to £150 on the same terms as last year would be fine. Once the first offer ends you may get those people who won't get a season ticket at as they consider they are paying "over the odds" once the price goes up - that's how some people's minds work. The club obviously doesn't need to sell to you as you would snap buy a season ticket for £200 a year in advance, however there are probably many current ST holders that got season tickets because they were excellent value and these are the people the club needs to encourage to renew without rocking the boat too much imo.
I'm not a moaner, just expressing a different viewpoint to you, if you want to use emoticons banging your head against a wall several times, go ahead.'"
Weather its well planned, with a short deadline or if its fallen from space - are they really legitimate reasons for people to moan?
If it is because of the "RUMOURED" financial "RUMOURS" so what, the money is going into the club coffersand that may well keep us afloat IF the "RUMOURS"" are true.
At the end of the day it is a ST for £150 for a limited time, if you want and can afford it - get it. If you cant wait until they are £180 and buy one then.
Its not rocket surgery, it doesn't need to be X-Files; it is just a stupidly good offer for a short time.
If i ruled the world and didn't need the dough, we'd all be on the £180 memberships (at least) because the £135k difference would buy a top player or secure the futures of three or four top juniors, and then maybe we might be in a better position on and off the field.

Unexpectedly offering a deal!! how can this be in anyway bad?
You have the choice the £180 ST is still a bargain.

Maybe because once you have had something on sale for a cheap price, paying more makes it seems poor value for money so many won't bother. So all of a sudden £180 doesn't seem the bargain it probably is.
Ususally in business companies put offers on to try and tempt as many people as possible to take that offer up and make it as easy for them as possible to do so. We haven't done that.
Anyway i'm done on the subject, time will tell if it works and the club get an early windfall up front. I get the feeling it needs to but have grave doubts as to whether it will.

Like I say, the club obviously doesn't need to do a selling job on you. It's the new supporters and people who may think twice about renewing anyway that could be affected. I'm not bothered either way, just found it strange. I never mentioned any "rumours" but of course it may be a consideration for people that the deal could go bad if some on here are to believed regarding the club situation.
Yes its a good offer, but a "stupidly" good offer it isn't for most people. By saying the club would get £135k extra by putting the price up to £180 just ignores simple economics. By nature the take up of season tickets may fall as the price rises.

I find it strange that the deadline is before the next home game, surely it would have made sense giving fans an option to pay on game day?

To quick for me I'm afraid! I'm out!
That's 4 less season tickets we will just pick our games 2014!
This deal really smells of a short fall cash flow problem!
To give everyone a chance this deal should be extended to end of August at least!!!
Or maybe we need the £ by the end of month!

| Did you get a shiny new season ticket book?
Or just a receipt to say you paid the £150??
I think the club should be working harder to raise revenue!
And not relaying on loyal supporters to bale them out!!
Is this not why we employed fozzy? Or is the money going towards his wages????

Loyal supporters have "baled out" there clubs since day dot, the thing is the more fans we have, the less the burden.
The club have done loads to get the attendances/support base up, Glover has chucked his own cash in (and he isn't a loyal fan), when are the supporters expected to do their bit?

The new supporters only have to add up the gate entry price and times it by thirteen to see that it is a good deal, they don't have to be Carol Vorderman.
Of course they will, but how many will drop out just because they think its too much when in real terms it is still well under the price of a ST elsewhere in SL.

Which is why you have to only gradually increase the price (£30 a time max) and give people as much chance as possible to take advantage of the offers. Give them an excuse not to the chances are they won't.
Whether its a case of can't pay or won't pay, what has to be done is every chance given to people to pay. A fortnight doesn't really do that and then people feel put out so they don't pay.

| Is this a Nick Fozzard idea ? To offer a short notice deal to fans who last season were considered loyal gold club members.
It seems that most would chip in if the deal gave them more notice, is this how to treat loyal fans? who like the club are finding it tough.

Not going to go on and on. Clearly you have your view and I am obviously but:
I couldn't give a monkeys what the ST prices are at Hudds, Cas, Leeds or anywhere else for that matter. In fact I have no idea what the season ticket prices are at other clubs. I am a Wakefield fan so it is only our ST price that is of any consequence to me.
Just comparing the gate price and dividing it by 13 is quite simplistic. Factor in that scheduling means [unot everyone [/uwill make 13 games, certain games suddenly have amazing offers at discounted prices and that some people prefer not to pay their entry fee one year in advance given a lot can happen in the interim, the value becomes eroded somewhat.
I want the club to have as many season ticket holders as possible, even though the ST price may be relatively low there are knock on effects of game day revenue (ie: I normally buy a couple of pints each game).

| FWIW I think it is a fantastic bit of business. You lot have won 4 in a row, very much striving for the playoffs and a big finish to the season, start early recruiting an even bigger fan base for next year, a feel good factor, a winning side & a fair price. If you know you will be attending the majority of home games then you are laughing really. If Cas announced a similar offer i'd be raiding that copper jar.

There is no doubting the season ticket is great value and cheap compared to other SL clubs!
This is only if you can attend all the matches!! and only been able to attend Sunday afternoons I lose 3/4 games anyway! So the club will proberly make more out of me on the gate!!
Saying that we would have renewed if the timescale was longer!
It's a luxury we will have to live without in 2014!!
It's just too short notice! And I'm not putting myself in debt for 4ST!!
Even if this is how the club likes to operate!!!!!!!

| Perhaps we just need the club to come clean on this one. Is it because the rumours are true and we are in a financial mess again, is it to have the financial clout to fend off offers for our star players or is it plain a simple a marketing tool to get some money in.
Personally I think it is number one and would like the club to be honest about this. Regardless I will call in he shop and take up the offer and will even offer to pay the £180 as I am lucky enough to be able to. Has the club considered a donations account, over and above 1873 and the lottery, I am sure fans would be happy to donate if the club was honest and open about the present situation.

Am in total agreement. They could sell shares again etc but they do need to be up front about any problems there are.
The old regime failed due to a lack of trust in them by the majority of supporters and I would hope AG has learnt from that.
I would expect them to provide an explanation as to why they were in trouble so soon again after a clean slate 2 years ago and that they had a coordinated plan of avoiding being back in the same position again. This could be done via a supporters meeting or via the supporters trust

You are coming from the point of view that there are troubles as if that is a fact.
Is there anything out there to back this up other than speculation?
I dont know, and i'm not saying that there isn't but i would assume if there isn't anything in it; it would make it doubley difficult to "come clean."
