that was a brilliant game of rugby and had me at the edge of my seat.

call it old school or whatever you want, but it was perfect demonstration of teamwork, desire and unity over skill.

cas didn't really what had hit them.

i also thought thaler was very good. he handled all of the flashpoints and was a little bit more lenient as i think he understood the passion involved. only black mark was the chase elbow.

I would like to say yes but the way Fev applied themselves today, they could have beaten a number of SL teams.

I thought the same thing during the game - I think Fev in that mood would have given any of half a dozen SL teams a really hard time.

The game was so enjoyable that the Ossett chapter of the Trinity faithful went out for a kebab afterwards, by way of celebration.

Closer to half seven; I bumped into Big Al in Ossett's finest eatery and since we were both driving, I guess we were indeed sober, although with plans to rectify that shortly afterwards.

I've just watched the game again; all Gronk's nonsense about the sin-binning is based around the fact that Mr Thaler shouted 'Cas Ball!" He didn't - he shouted "Play the ball" and the Fev player couldn't, because Clarke was holding on to prevent him playing it. Sin bin was the correct decision.

As for the Chase incident - it looked like an elbow to me; he should be facing a lengthy ban.

saw the game this afternoon on eurosport( well some of it as i was watching the sharks/eels game at the same time..) the first cas try was short of the line... the chase tackle/hit was dubious but not enough evidence to call it either way but it did look bad and it was either an elbow or hand into face, didnt look like a shoulder.. fev looked up for it and best team won as far as i am concerned

Couldn't really tell from the angles shown whether the impact was shoulder or elbow. The elbow is up there but was it just after impact? They'll be other angles available to the disaplinary that will show it better. Either way its a ban as it was a shot to the head, its just the length that needs to be decided.

I'm sure his triumphant sneer at the injured player then furtive glance at the ref will be taken into account.

Clark wasn't going to slow the play-the-ball down; he clearly thought he had a right to attempt to steal the ball one on one. All it needed was a bit of common sense from Thaler to state Fev ball and Clark would have got his hands off straight away. Even if he felt that Clark was slowing it down, a penalty would have sufficed. Ultimately, the man down cost us in the grand scheme of things as it meant that Fev took advantage.

Or it could just be that you weren't good enough on the day and Fev were fantastic and deserved their win!

Correct call for me - clear holding on and prevented the try that would inevitably have come from a quick ptb; professional foul all the very day.

Cas could have cause to feel aggrieved that Tommy Saxton didn't get the same treatment when he stripped the ball from a Cas player on his own line, to slow things down while the defence got set. Maybe that's justice for the first Cas try being short of the line and the Youngquest knock on that was missed?

Looked to me like a classic case of disrespecting the opposition, whereas Fev came with an excellent game plan and executed it almost flawlessly; their management of Chase was exemplary and was probably what caused him to lose his rag and attack Ropati.

Fev can feel the same with cas first try which was way short and the blatant knock on in build up to Griffins try.
