Eastmond or Tadulala it matters not to me, what do I think the club have in mind?

They're trying to do the what the rest of the rugby league world thinks is impossible and that's to go from administration, near extinction, ravaged and asset stripped with a 4pt deduction to making the play offs!

I'm convinced that's the goal that everyone at the club knows about yet nobody will speak of but in the confines of the dressing room, boot room and board room that's what's burning away at all concerned.

Is there any official confirmation that the signing is in fact Tadulala? Or Eastmond? Or is it still a rumour?

Yes, totally agree, I don't know whether it was the aim from the start but as soon as the season's started to play out and how our team have performed, I genuinely feel, that's what the club have in mind and tbh, it's there for the taking, so long as the team continues to develop and these new recruits, add to the overall teams performance.

The only logic I can see for signing him is in the expectation that Johnson will be 'going away' - otherwise, I'd be sticking with him. He's a strong, eager runner who looks for work and is sound in defence and, of course, is young and British, which we like.

I think friday bore witness to that.

The elation on the faces of all the players and the way they celebrated together, did indeed suggest that they'd achieved some kind of shared goal; it was great to see.

It's not a case of sticking with Johnson or anyone else. Semi at 33 is not a long term solution. What he offers is a short term fix. He simply offers what none of the rest can, physical maturity.

Lets not kid ourselves here, we are playing to the max and at some point another team will exploit that and they will bully our current line up to bits. They risk being smashed at some point if we are not careful and no one wants that.

At that point it's not young guns you want to steady the ship it's old stagers who won't be intimidated. We are seriously short of them at present, especially in the backs and Semi goes along way to relieve that.

I guess you fear that Semi will get in the way of the youngsters progressing.The reality IMO is that he will save a few from being battered and allow them the time to develop that they need. We simply can't go the whole season on spirit and adrenilin, romantic though it sounds. There is no sport more attritional than RL - we need Semi and anyone else willing to have a go.

I can't argue with that and in fairness, I said something very similar recently in a discussion about the other young Johnson.

In respect of the batterings still to come - I think they'll start tomorrow, so if this signing is about adding depth to the squad, it's fair enough. At 33, I do wonder if he's got a seasons worth of juice left in the tank but fortunately, that's not my call.

I remain to be convinced either way, but as ever, if he pulls on the jersey and gives 100%, he'll get my support.

Think you're probably already right, Saints gave us a bit of a smashing and we couldn't physically match them. It's something that is always round the corner should they let their levels drop (as they did in patches in the first half on friday). As long as he's not crocked Semi should do a decent enough job imo

I'm presuming there's some sort of relegation release clause in his contract at Leeds Carnegie given that his contract doesn't run out until the end of next season - not sure he's worth paying a fee for if Leeds aren't simply releasing him.

He didn't play for Leeds Carnegie yesterday so i don't know whether he is currently injured or whether that is a sign that he is on his way to us.

He hasn't played in the first team for most of the season.

Like others have said, if the re-signing of semi had merely been announced without prior warning then people would have accepted it and welcomed it.

With the build up of an exciting player, and the uncontrollable rumour mill the signing of semi will be welcomed as a bit of a let down with what we could have got.

well think about players who are out of favour at other clubs that desperately want game time

Mixed feelings on this one to be honest, always liked Semi as a player and as been previously said he was certainly our kind of winger (medical diagnostics and passport security apart) - fast pacey wingers really dont suit us and we never use them. Big, strong wingers like Semi are much more up our street - and he is likely to fit in well.

That said though, hype aside, he is another ageing import and for those reasons I'm not convinced he is the answer - infact if he is the answer I am not sure what the question is. Griffin well and truely cemented in the one wing and Johnson would be my first choice whileever he is available, with one of Penney, Morton, George or Veivers making up the other. If true this would be 2 imports in the last week or so, not a route we want to my going down in my opinion.

I'm lost now. Was it someone in the club who said it would be an exciting signing, or someone on here?
