It's a cricket score for Leeds, Huddersfield and Cas, but that's not really the point, is it (if you want to go back to discussing Celtic Crusaders)? The damage to their club and to the reputation of the sport is far more important than if you beat them 100-0 on the last day of the season and fluke a playoff place. Not to you, maybe, but to most rugby league fans.

Now they are in, it does no one any good for them to fail. They'll have a few months to recruit, and a few decent NL1 players might fancy a shot at the big time.

What bothers me more is the crackdown on visas in rugby league. Are the rules being applied evenly, or is it just rugby league being targetted?

I think it's more to do with the government's change in focus. They have made it universally harder for antipodeans to get into this country. Rugby league recruits a lot from that area of the world, so we feel it more than other sports. Soccer will have it easiest, of course, since most of their players come from the EU where no visas are required at all.

It's nice to read a generally supportive thread. I'm feeling sorry for the Celtic fans just now. At present it is only their players who are being held responsible (and at least four of them were due to leave anyway) but it would be a real shame if something at the club gave the Borders Agency reason to believe they had been knowingly employing illegal immigrants.

I also hope that my own club is double-checking Meli's visa! He was a tad delayed in getting here.

PS: The Celtic board is a shambles of hostile Championship fans. It's a pity lots of SL supportive fans couldn't get on there and squash the lot! The time to deal with who should be in Superleague surely isn't now, is it? That's for 2012 or whenever, when it's open season again. But just now I would have thought sticking together for the game as a whole would have been the better approach. (I'm in favour of Celtic myself)

not fussy really if we beat them 11- 10 wins a win to be fair we had one bad game against leeds it will do us the world of good really losing like that so where not in that bad state leeds were brilliant cas knew there was no points there and switched off i expect a different cas on sunday

i am sure celtic will sort this problem and come back stronger its the fans really what will suffer but with no disrespect to them were they gunna win there last 3 games anyway? not really the players had nothing to play for

I predict you switching off again after the first half on Sunday. You might need to beat Celtic 100-0 just to get back the points you lost to Leeds and the ones you're likely to lose to a Wigan team that is on fire at the moment.

The report states that the Visa irregularities occurred before 2009, i.e. prior to Celtic playing in Superleague, presumably, had this been known before the franchises were handed out Celtic would not have been awarded one. This must surely strengthen the cases of Widnes, Fev, Fax etc. to be in Superleague. There are provisions in place to remove clubs from Superleague at the end of each Supeleague Season, a franchise is NOT a guarantee of 3 years in the top flight. If I was a Celtic supporter I`d be a very worried man at the moment, it`s not the fans` fault, they seem a really decent set and deserve better. I think their will be a lot of squirming going on at the RFL, how are they going to fudge this issue? Could make Boots`n`all worth watching tonight.

Widnes messed their own application up (and IMO if they'd have made it in it would have been instead of Salford rather than Celtic).

As for Fev and Fax, their applications seemed to be more about laying down a marker for next time rather than really being in a position to get one from 2009.

Yes, clearly this isn't good news for Celtic, but its connection to franchising is a complex one that is best sorted out by the relevant authorities.
