One possibility on occasions like this is to do homework when the fixtures come out.
If someone from the club had identified when the fixtures came out that there was a clash with something like this, then there could have been an opportunity to team up with Ponte racecourse maybe and do some sort of offer?
Bring the kick off forward to say 11.30 and offer families the chanch to watch a top class rugby match followed by a day at the races.
That way people who wanted to go to both don't have a problem and you may even catch the eye of people who are off to the races anyway and think they may aswell take in the rugby too.
Just an idea?

Sounds like a very good idea. How feasible it is I don't know but anything has to be worth a go. Though I imagine an outcry from the 'hard core' regarding messing about with kick off times. |
