Absolutely agree!! If it comes off he'd accept the praise..if it doesn't, then he should accept the blame. It's part and parcel of taking the risk!
If he's not up to taking responsibility for these outcomes, then he should have stook to JK's orders and taken the 2 pts.

| Funny how every time we pagger Cas, such has become tradition over the last few years, a load of them trot out the old "we dont care about Wakey, Leeds is the real Derby and the one we are really bothered about" line.... Until Leeds scrape past us, then there's posts like these laughing at us.

| I thought it was the correct call at the time.
Leeds had obviously upped the intensity and we were looking vulnerable (even though we had the extra man) From the point of Brough refusing the two, we then had a good 4/5 minutes possession and territory which would have been the game clincher IMO if we had managed to hang on.
We could have easily kicked the two, then surrendered possession straight away to put Leeds in a good position, then the way things were they could easily have scored three tries in that 5 minutes that we had been camped deep in their half.

He didn't ignore his coach, he made a decision.
Kear is 100 yards behind him. He didn't ignore him.
As far as I am concerned Brough proved tonight that he is better when he is in charge. We need to find, or develop a line breaking running stand off, not an organiser. Let Brough be in charge. It worked better tonight when he directed play.
The kick still wouldn't have won us the game anyway. They scored 6 ytries to our 4, so Brough was what was keeping us in it for God's sake.
I know we like to find a scape goat but it isn't him.
To be honest all the players that have recently taken criticism proved a point tonight.
Grix did well on his wing
Korki was awesome
Petersen worked very hard (though a couple of mistakes were irritating)
and Obst was the best tackler we had. Outstanding. Wish he'd been stood where Atkins was when Senior came running. He took him everytime he ran at him on the wing.
Right, off to bed know. Going out with some Leeds fans tomorrow so need my strength

Regardless of who was wrong or right regarding going for goal, should Brough (or Drew) take orders from the Coach or do their own thing?

You dont think we have a system for getting the coaches instruction to the players? It wasn't as if the tap was taken instantly, seem to recall there being a decent period of time - so I dont agree that they didnt receive instruction.
Scapegoat again - we should have a link to the dictionary at the top of the site for people to look this word up.

coaches get sacked based on results and performance , with this in mind the player should show respect and do as requested

Bang on.
Atkins defense was pathetic most of the night. In fact the defense down Atkins side was pathetic.
If Atkins has real ambitions of representing his nation against Australia,he needs to work on his defense,it was men against boys everytime Senior ran at him.

| I think we were right to keep hold of the ball when 8 points up... I dont see what 2 pts would have done in that instance (its all right saying in hinesight) ... Brough had a good game - shame that couldnt be said for others !!

Shocking defence cost us the game ... Its all ifs and buts but had we taken the 2 then Leeds might have kicked off and got the ball back scoring 6 pts (just like Hull did)... We needed to respect the ball - some players didnt respect the opposition (or wanted there autograph during play !!) ...

Shocking defence??I thought that for 70 minutes that was our best defensive display of the season, you must have seen some real quality games that i've missed this season if you thought that was shocking,i'd say 5 minutes of stupidity cost us the game, not taking 2 when we had 3 penalties cost us the game.

| Kear called the TWO points on the first penalty in Leeds' half.
Once it had been ran he gave the THUMBS UP to whoever made the decision to run it as it brought us another penalty.
you win some, you lose some, get over it.

Think you may find that Kear called for the 2 on the second penalty.

Yes by taking the points when on offer, which was the obvious game plan going by previous decisions in the game.

I'm sure he will get the blame from Kear if this is what happened. However I will not be blaming him as I think he made the right choice. I blame Blaymire for the breakdown of that spell of pressure due to his indecision that gave leeds a penalty and a get out from their own 20. It's all ifs and buts after the decision has been made but regardless of what happened after at the time with leeds having 12 men and losing their heads keeping the pressure on and going for a try/running down the clock was the best option.

| At that time I didn't think the extra two points was as much of a benefit as the possible 6 and the extra time we could spend running the clock down at the Leeds end. What cocked us up was the penalty for crossing.
Don't know who was responsible as I cleared the Sky+ as soon as i got in.

It wasn't an obvious gameplan, your statement is wrong.
Previous to turning down this opportunity we accepted the two points on offer three times. Twice while we were down to twelve men which were both obviously the correct calls taking that into consideration, and the other time when the scores were tied at 16 all, so obviously beneficial to edge us back in front after Leeds had started the 2nd half really well.
Just going back to another point whether it is right to overule your coach, I think in some circumstances the players have a better feeling of what to do at the time, so I have no problem with it.

NRL is rather tastey !! No the pack was really good but i thought we were terrible on the fringes... Once Leo went off in the second half injured and was the only one making the tackles on that right hand side we really struggled and it cost us the game...

Why is it wrong ?? are you saying we would not have taken them if we had 13 men on the field ?? we needed to get back in the game.
Look back we always take points on offer in kickable positions.
8 points in front and time ticking away we should have taken the 2 and got set for a short kick off. JK was right and whoever made the decision ought to get a right bollocking.
