| Quote ="Willzay"Hardly. They should get tested at least twice a week which they arent. Have they matched the “100,000” daily tests they promised? Don’t forget this is the same party who voted against NHS pay rise as well. What do you think to Helen Whatley’s veiws on student nurses?
As for RLB - she’s been sacked for sharing an article deemed to be anti-Semitic from a party dealing with anti-semitism - at least one party leader has the balls to sack a party member brining controversy (not unlike Johnson with Cummings).'"
Cummings is not a member of Conservative party.
If they should be tested twice weekly, why didn’t Ashworth propose that?!?
It was a stunt where even your beloved Labour Party Minister said where necessary !!
He put that much effort into the proposition he hadn’t even costed it or considered the logistics of what he proposed.

| Quote ="Willzay"I’ve always maintained I’d be equally disappointed and peed off if any other Government had reacted to COVID the way the Tories have handled it.
It was quite clear to see that when Italy went into lockdown we should’ve done too - instead we went ahead with champions league football matches and Cheltenham; people still flying in and out of the country freely.
I mean you’ve got a high ranking Tory breaking his own lockdown rules, a high ranking Tory slagging off student nurses, and now you’ve got the entire Conservative party voting against weekly tests for NHS staff and care workers. All this on top of Brexit which they’ve handled equally as bad.
And there’s the easing of lockdown. I’m not suggesting people should be shut in doors for ever, but that entire process was diabolical from the start. It was never officially called “lockdown”, thus leaving it up to interpretation.
There’s four and half years to go under a Government who clearly put profit before people. If being peed off at that makes me bitter than so be it.'"

| On the ITV news tonight our wise prime minister told someone who was disturbed at the invasion of the beaches yesterday to, "Show some guts".
So the half million that invaded Bournemouth beach and those crowds celebrating Liverpool's championship were showing guts? What an a******e.
What a pity they closed Stanley Royd. The sooner they place that idiot somewhere that he can't be heard the better.

What I was reading into the comment was that it was aimed at the local councils / authorities to come down hard on the idiots who invaded the beaches but I could be wrong.

You totally undermine your argument by referring to the government as Tories in a derogatory way, as if all Conservative MP’s and voters are complicit. Are all Labour Party people Corbynites?
You seem incapable of differentiating between Boris, who I agree has been useless and the rest who have almost certainly tried to do their best. This Piers Morgan style hyperbole doesn’t wash with me.
Until you drop the obvious agenda and stick to fact I for one can’t take you seriously despite your steam hammer presentations

It's difficult for people who are partisan (in any direction) not to slant their posts from their own viewpoint.
However, there is little doubt that the "signposting" of easing restrictions, together with the actions of the infamous Tory advisor, has left people thinking "sod it" and off they go to please themselves.
At the risk of sounding like a miserable so and so, I can see any fun in sharing a beach with several hundred thousand strangers - not even in the "good times" and to do so when there is still a huge risk to peoples health ??
I've far more sympathy with the Liverpool fans.
Just imagine if Trinity won the cup or the League, you wouldn't want to mark the occasion with a can of Fosters in your front room.

Agree with most of the last paragraph WC, it reminds me of a scene from a Benidorm holiday hence why I don’t go there, the only point I slightly differ is that Liverpool have had plenty of huge success over recent years unlike us but then again they are scouses

I think you have to draw the clear distinction between the Black Lives matter organisation, and the Black Lives Matter movement. The movement is the aim that most right-minded people feel of ensuring BAME communities have the same advantages as white people. The organisation however, have specific policy objectives that you don't necessarily have to support (some of their objectives I strongly support, others I strongly disagree with). Crystal Palace for example have publicly distanced themselves from the organisation today, whilst assuring everyone that they support the movement / ethos.

The occupation of Palestinian land is illegal under international law, so it's legitimate to criticise that Israeli policy. Antisemitism would be using the actions of the state of Israel as a stick with which to beat the Jewish people. A common mistake people make for example is to say "the Jews" have taken Palestinian land. It is not a simple thing to debate safely if you ask me, and if anyone's interested on how to talk about Israel without straying inadvertently into dangerous territory the Actor David Schneider wrote this

And yet, the Israeli government have ignored and continue to ignore UN resolutions, year on year.
un sanctions against israel
The following is a list of United Nations resolutions concerning Israel. As of 2013, Israel had been condemned in 45 resolutions by the United Nations Human Rights Council. Since the creation of the Council in 2006, it has resolved almost more resolutions condemning Israel than on the rest of the world combined.
Many of the condemnations are a result of Israel land grab and treatment of Palestinians by the Israel government over many years.
I think I’ll leave it at that.

No matter what you think of some of the people in that movement these things in my opinion cannot be contested
1) They don't speak for everyone who supporting the cause that has used the mantra of Black Lives Matter mantra
2) Black Lives actually do matter
3) In 2020 we shouldn't be discussing whether some human beings should matter more than others just because of the colour of their skin.

I think your point is a pretty easy one to understand.
I don't feel responsible for all the land grabs and atrocities of the world caused by Christian countries, so I don't think Jews should be criticised because of the actions of Israel.
Saying that, Israel is in a very dangerous position being surrounded by countries that would happily wipe them off the earth, so it isn't easy to understand what they do without being there and living how they have to live.

So, are you saying that because the actions of our forefathers centuries ago,(not just the English) that criticism of any country, community, isn’t allowed, and some nations should be allowed to continue doing, because our forefathers did so.

| I know more cases are coming to light because more testing is being carried out locally, but it seems to prove we all still need to be careful.
810 more coronavirus cases diagnosed in Wakefield
Public Health England (PHE) figures show that 1,602 people had been confirmed as testing positive for Covid-19 by 9am on Thursday (July 2) in Wakefield, up from 792 the same time on Wednesday.
The health body is now including Pillar 2 tests – those carried out by commercial partners – alongside Pillar 1 tests, which are analysed in NHS or PHE laboratories and which made up the first stage of the Government's mass testing programme.
The rate of infection in Wakefield now stands at 464 cases per 100,000 people, higher than the England average of 436.

| Quote ="Dunkirk Spirit"I’m sorry, but I have to say I think you are wrong. You, me, everyone is responsible for our own actions. I’m sure you are not a child, but a responsible adult. Responsible people should set a good example and do the right thing. My wife is Shielded. Therefore I have to be extremely careful when I go out usually twice a week locally. I, like most people would love to do the normal thing, but sensible people have to do the right thing for themselves and others, and not to use the stupid actions of one man as an excuse to do the same stupid things that could undo all the sacrifices most people have made these past few weeks. I repeat. We are all responsible for our actions.'"
You are right that we are indeed responsible for our own actions.
However, the direction and example should be set by those in charge and they have been found wanting.
Even the PM's dad, who is in the over 70's group, went of on an "essential" trip to check that his properties were covid safe.
Not only have high level government ministers and advisors pleased themselves, when called out, to a man, they have been backed by the PM and allowed to carry on. What message does this send to the masses ?
Is it, stick to the guidelines and help keep everyone safe or, is it, do as you please ?
As for "responsible adults, they will be out getting severely hammered tonight.
By 9.30, social distancing will be done and the quest for the next pint will take priority over EVERYTHING and all this, encouraged by everyone from the PM, Prince William etc.
As I said, this is all about leadership and setting an example.
