What baffles me is people talking like £220 is the end of the world.
I'm sure some people wouldn't think twice about shelling out £30 for one game of footy at Elland Road.
Plus everything else that goes with it and at a conservative estimate, you would be forking out £50 for just one game.

Spot on mate, i'm not being political and have never worked for the public sector but some of the figures bandied about by today's strikers made you realise how tight money is. I'm a pensioner but thankfully can comfortably afford a concession ticket for Cas but the days when i watched Cas, Wakey and Fev whenever i could have gone. Its not just the ticket but diesel and refreshments and it all adds up. You can only take a man's money off him once.

So from 1/September to 1/December the 'early bird' offer for Adults is 220 correct?

You're obviously easily baffled.

£220 is a lot of money no matter what value you put on the ticket.
Some will be able to afford. Some won't. Doesn't make you a lesser fan.

Last seasons early bird was £150 leading up to £205.
This seasons early bird is £220.
If the fans want the club to progress, they can't moan about the players we sign, the budget dictates who comes in.
I'm sure there will be loads of threads about missing fans/ low crowds next year.
The baffling thing is that they want the best team or a better team but are not prepared to pay a bit more to get it.

A seated ticket at £285 will stretch some, me included. Especially when concession age has gone up to 65.

I agree with most of what you say. I've already posted that £220 isn't unreasonable for an adult season ticket.
The baffling thing is that you can't put yourself in other people's shoes and understand that it is a hell of a lot of money for some.

The real problem is that the actual people buying season tickets are being asked to cough up to make up for the people who don't buy them.
I paid full price for years but now am able to get a concession, I think that has gone up 50% from last years price so quite a hike up, not 'a bit more'. I will still get one but you cannot criticise people who may be on lower incomes for 'moaning' about, let's face it, steep price increases!

I agree entirely. I posted before that we should get behind this and the club ONLY if you can afford it. £220 is a lot of money and hopefully the payment plan will help a lot of people. My Car tax has come through and lets just say its not far off that! I know which Is better value when I'm driving over pot holes left right and centre.

I feel not having a student option is missing a trick for two reasons. One I know of a lot of students who go to the games because I taught them. They will struggle to afford full prices because I know their social and economic backgrounds. Simple. Secondly and of most importance to me is the risk of losing them full time. When the cycle of watching a sport is broken ie between child and adult it is difficult to get them to come back. They will find women, alcohol and other activities. (They will probably do that anyway). So if they stop watching at 16 then when they can afford it at say 19-22 the three year gap has given them other activities, entertainment and avenues. I would have liked a £99 Student ticket but that's off the top of my head so would need scrutinising.

However the club has made its choices and just because one thing doesn't fit doesn't mean we all shouldn't get one.

Others have posted that they might slightly miss out financially but they see that as their way of helping the club. So if they get the season ticket and do miss 4 games they are not bothered because the money is in the clubs pot. That's a great attitude to take and I appreciate we all can't do that but fair play to the ones that can and do. The more money in the pot, the better structures and team on the field. So if you can only watch 50% of the games, surely it is better watching 50% with a competitive team.

Again if you can afford it a big surge of season tickets in the early bird price offer will help us in the off season financially, set a marker for our future intentions and get the ball rolling for others to follow.

I am sure our chairman has done the best he can for us, and has come up with a structure that allows us to be as competitive as we can be without getting into financial difficulty again. If this is what has to be paid then so be it.

Personally, I would have liked to have seen a 10 game season ticket, (vouchers to be exchanged for match day tickets) say £165, which covers those who miss games due to shift working, holidays etc.

This would be the perfect option for me and, I'm sure, many others.

I'm guessing the problem with the student ticket is that anyone at any age can get a student card by joining a part time course at Wakey Tech! I wonder if it would be worth having a 17-19 age ticket at around £120 -with proof required of age at entry. All young people at that age have ID for either discounted buses etc or for buying alcohol!

We don't want a missing generation, nor for these young ones to find other things to fill their time.

Do agree with what someone posted earlier that price is ok, but if you are on a low income might struggle with it.

I am currently a full time student at University and I am 25. I was a bit surprised that their was no student ticket this year, although personally I am happy to pay the £220 for a season ticket as I want to see a strong competitive team on the field, and also have a trade behind me making me able to afford this. Other younger students however will not be able to afford this, which will cost Wakefield Trinity dearly as their are a lot of young student fans. More thought needed on this I reckon.

It must be a hard one for the club, because it's that balance between wanting people through the gates alongside money in the coffers.

On the whole it is good value, particularly with the payment plan. Personally, I would have had an under-21's ticket at £120. Most young people, students or otherwise, are not too flush with cash, but what they have is time. So get them in and they will fill the ground, home and away, and will establish the habit.

Glover made it too cheap, which was good for the attendances but bad for the till.

Over the whole season, you are better to lose 20% of season ticket holders if the rest are paying 20% more than last year, as those 20% who don't renew will pay on the gate for most of the games. The advance money stays the same, and there is a greater drip-drip income through the year.

Here in lies the issue our chairman has regularly raised, too many fans/friends want there rugby for next to nothing. They will happily come for a tenner but not the market rate. As a season ticket holder are we doing the club any favours by passing our tickets on? Not blaming those that do, I used to do this, it gets a body into the ground, and brings in income if they put their hands in their pockets whilst there., but have chosen not to do so this year, as I can see the argument that we are just encouraging people who want their rugby on the cheap, which as has been shown previously is not sustainable.

My thoughts would be on a 14 game season:-
Full season ticket. £210. Or £15 per game
10 match pass, £170., or £17 per game
5 match pass £90 or £18 per game.

This encourages those who can't get to every game to become a member and to pay in advance, rewarding fans in a structured way for their loyalty.

think the price is ok if u can get to all games but for me thurs/fri night games are nearly always a no due to work so not worth getting one

Don't agree with not having student tickets. However I feel £220 is a fair price of adult season tickets.

Nothing for students!!! Very short term indeed.
