If Belle Vue can be developed to Super League standard, then do we really need Newmarket? Given the choice I'd much rather stay where we are if at all feasible.

| Interesting one. I understood that N/M was the only way we could attract grants etc to allow us to have a S/L standard ground.
If there are funds and plannining possibilities around BV, then why not.
Start on the West side and move round the ground from there.
Nice ![Smile icon_smile.gif](//www.rlfans.com/images/smilies//icon_smile.gif)

| just how good would it be to stop at Belle Vue and it be fit for super duper league
I would trash the super bowl and also get some land down by the old power station for the parking
dog ally would have to clean up though ![Wink icon_wink.gif](//www.rlfans.com/images/smilies//icon_wink.gif)

| For me, as much as BV has lots of history and tradition attached, it would be a retrograde step to stay put for any longer than it takes to get NM, or an alternative stadium, up and running.

If they had the option of a brand new stadium that was being fully funded by a developer, they'd be on it like a bonnet.
BV is the past - if we want to see 10k people coming through the turnstiles every week, for me we need two things; a decent team and a new stadium.

Completely agree, love Belle Vue tons, for the memories and because it's been home for ever , but to run with the big boys and to attract new home and away fans, as well as the excellent new training facilities, it's Newmarket that offers us the best future and at the end of the day it appears that's what the RFL want.

If AG said " =#FF0000its about redeveloping Belle VUe" i for one would turn up to find out the details. If he said " =#FF0000Its about new investment " again i would turn up to find out who is investing , how much etc . However i think we are being kept in the dark because its either going to be an anti-climax like JKs "exciting player to be signed soon" announcement or its news that AG intends to take the club in a direction the die hard supporters will be unhappy about and he doesnt want any organised protests at the announcement'"
How about if it were about both?

| Like many this topic really has got me thinking and hoping for the best. Wakefield Trinity has a fine history and heritage and for Mr Glover and/or his team to come out and say this meeting is the most important in the clubs history, well that is quite a bold statement. The most important thing for Wakefield right now is to stay in Super League and get a new stadium.
Now this is all pure speculation but with Engage ending their super league sponsorship, what if a certain wealthy director at a fairly local football club, who also runs a logistics company i believe was to sponsor the Super League on the provison that their is no relegation and two more teams come up. The same gentleman also helps to turn Belle Vue into a satisfactory status until Newmarket was ready, where his football team could also share the ground enabling NM to be used all year round to maximise profits??

| it will be sad to leave but belle vue as had its day. You could just see that on sunday. Location is good but there is nothing around it no decent pubs no nothing. Hull as five aside pictures etc if we get a mini hull at newmarket then it would be great. Belle Vue defo had its day for me. We need to give new fans new impitace and this won't happen at belle vue.

| Thats the good thing about NM, you can do the Newmarket lane run stop off and have a burger or a kebab on the way down, in fact there is that much to do down there you might not even get to see the match.

| From reading this thread it appears the 'smart money' is on some type of belle vue upgrade pending relocation to Newmarket.
If we don't get a licence I wonder if Belle Vue will still get some extra cover or as championship supporters do we have to accept getting wet.

| Ok here goes a cobbled together theory on what I have read so far on this thread.
NEwmarket will happen one day with or without a stadium on it but as we know the timing has been all wrong for us. I still think we need a plan B as we have no guarantee of the nod from the public enquiry which would effectively waste another year. Ted said at his last meeting that the developer Yorkcourt and Colin Makie was our knight in shining armour are he they were effectively paying for our stadium.
If it was costing in the region of 20 million would it not make better business sense for Yorkcourt to pay us off say with 5 million which we could then put in a pot with Ossett Town. With Ossett on board SIlkwood Park would be perfect for both clubs. The only problem then is we would still be short in terms of finance required. So enter stage right Steve Parkin and Guisley for a development at Silkwood Park. I'm not sure about planning restrictions there but surely it would be easier than trying to get it built on Green belt

It would be good for Ossett Town but not so good for Guiseley and there fans to travel there, and with both Wakey teams playing there Steve Dutton would certainly have his hands full.

That would be a brilliant comment if it were true but from what I see it isn't. The ground was not sold as far as I'm aware, it has charges on it and that's not the same thing. Who or what exactly owns BV and there ability to service the debts held against it is up for debate. The Bank of Ireland clearly has a charge against the ground but unless we/they or someone doesn't default they don't own it. As far as I can tell Ted owns it, but has so much debt secured against it he can't do anything with it. One thing I believe is that Andrew Glover knows who owns what and must feel OK about it or why else would he pay 35k for the club for absolutely nothing. Of course this like everything else on here this is pure speculation.
Personally I think BV is still in the mix but I've no idea where ![Confused icon_confused.gif](//www.rlfans.com/images/smilies//icon_confused.gif)

Have you seen how many bars and food places are in stanley and Rothwell 5 mins drive away from Newmarket. Wonder what the RFL would say on the matter of Belle Vue being developed would this mean that Belle vue is Super league standard? Interesting the Rfl input is on stadia. They cant just kick us out and not offer any input.
