What exactly happened - did Beans do a Cantona style flying kick, or just shout back at someone who was having a pop?

There seems to be a bit of a conundrum here for the club. We have the 'Rugby League is a family sport....' announcement and then, if reports of the use of the 'f' word are correct, we have a senior member of staff in the dock. Some may say that he 'was only reacting to provocation', but who defines what provocation is - a run of penalties, a player who polaxes one of ours, a punter who spills beer on someone, etc.... - if the use of foul language is 'not to be tolerated' then it should mean exactly that.

The Hickey Tweet was swept under the carpet (although we don't know if he was disciplined privately), but this, if proven to be correct, requires an apology.

Also, some realism; at every televised game, every week, one can be treated to a close up shot of most coaches and nearly all players yelling expletives - it's a mans game played by grown-ups and sometimes, grown-ups swear. The commentators often have a wry chuckle about it.

Having said that, when it spills over to a direct confrontation between a member of the coaching staff and a spectator then yes, it should be looked into.

Which coach was it who said "If you start listening to the fans, you'll end up sitting with them," or something along those lines.

That's typical mis informed nonesense - Steve Ferres appointed Broadbent.

He's a slightly tedious bloke who has a go at players endlessly and he's pretty dull with it but his mates laugh along with him which makes him feel he's a real wit. That said Beans should rise above it, he really should - I know it's hard but that's the job.

In which case, we should make our mind up as to whether we wish to keep the pretence about 'not being tolerated'. If a supporter used that language towards a steward he would be removed from the ground.

Not easy I know - the same problem exists on here for the mods!

If Bradbent has told a fan where to go then he should be sacked. If I told a customer at work the same then I would be sacked for definite.

the fact that he could not, makes his position almost certainly untenable.

Hickey said something along the lines of bad day at the office thank god for beer, to which Uptoncat(?) responded by saying he should concentrate less on beer and more on getting fit. Hickey told him he pays his money so is entitled to his opinion but basically to F off (on Twitter).

One fan? I've been reading here for a couple of weeks (not to gloat, I should add, but for something else which will be posted later), all I've read on here is 'Kear should go' from the majority.

It's not just 'one fan' on here, so it won't be just 'one fan' in the stands either. Plus, PB is only human, after weeks of this no wonder he snapped.

After all, now you know the coaching staff listen!

he'd have been better saying nowt than putting a statement out that by implication is having a go at the people he had a go at yesterday.

Bad language is an everyday occurrence unfortunately, even on here people cannot respond without fluffing and cuffing, bypassing the swear filter. Its called industrial language so long as nothing personal is said, although I was not behind the dugout I would bet that all Broadbent did was answer back in the same vane as he received it.
