| I posted last week that we was playing East Leeds last week but its this weekend we play it why we had the weekend off surprised me but with the rain it would of been called off,
tonight the under 14s played at Lock lane in the service area as a finish to training period,
two well balanced sides enjoyed the evening but the pitch was a mare for them to play on, it was that long you couldn't see the lads boots and one lad that got hurt and was laid on the pitch you couldn't see him he was that small
get it cut ffs

We had the same experience at Lock Lane a few weeks ago - the grass was ridiculously long; makes it heavy going for the lads and spoils the game a bit.

Rob your right the fixture list is a joke. I mean who in the right mind has a Wakefield junior team playing against a Castleford junior team on the same day that Wakefield are playing Castleford in one of the RFL'S flagship events down the road in Manchester(8 under 12's from Crigg were there). Also that weekend is a favorite if people are planning a two week holiday involving taking the kids out of school as its cheaper and means that the kids only miss one week. It should in my opinion have been a free weekend.
During the week Its ok if a rearanged match coincides with normal training times at your own club but apart from that it's a struggle for some parents and coaches/helpers to accomadate these fixtures into there busy lives.
Would it be so hard to have a quick consultation with the clubs after this season ends and address any problems and try and iron them out for next season? But that's probably too simple a soloution.

lets hope so or i can see the league losing some teams back to winter rugby which would be a shame,i know of 1 club "not ours" who have decided it will be entering its junior teams in the winter league next season has the fixtures are a joke.
i also think the leagues should be bigger with the league deciding who plays in what division has there was far too much picking and choosing this time around and the full fixtures should be put out before the season starts and any problems should be ironed out before it starts.
not too much to ask is it?

| Just come back from Crigg . I realise what you're saying about pitches , but the way the weather has been lately , the grass is obviously loving it . Our pitches got cut a couple of weeks ago ( council- not cheap either ) - but weren't done very well to say the least & so 3 of us have spent about 3 hours cutting the half way line, touch line etc. grass and then marking out the pitch . It's not ideal by any means , but at least the game will be on ok .

they do the chocolate ones
joking aside been up tonight at Stanley while the lads been training I try to help out with anything that may require my skills in making equipment that can get the ground in better condition, just a simple regular cut of the grass does help to keep it in line but we are now going to take it a little further.
having made a sweeper that helps agitate and puts lines on the pitch we are now looking at a weed killer and later a hollow tyner that will improve it even better.
the benefits of the recent down pour has helped the grass no end but if it hasn't been cut you end up with a over growth and you could say stubble when it is cut.
Bar for the slope I have never seen a amateur club have such a lush pitch

that's the problem with the council, not that they don't do a good job but more of the back log that they have to continue with and I far bet did a brisk up and down job so will look poor and leave stalks standing everywhere, been there and done that with my lawn so I do understand as the reason I cut when I can now and its far easier
ever thought of taking your responsibility to cutting the pitch at your own club?

Get down to Spartan HQ - it's like a bowling green!
Benefits of having a professional groundsman I suppose - a luxury that I know many amateur clubs don't have.

I know the full ground as I played there as a kid with some friends back in the mid seventies in the evenings, we used to play football, rugby, cricket and even used the tennis courts if its still there, the club house was out of bounds
must say that they are fantastic facilities when I was a lad and I bet they haven't changed.
brings back many a memory being ferried up and down from Walton on my mates honda 90

Think that they're on about changing to someone else and let them do it to be honest . It needs doing pretty much every week at the moment , if it gets left too long then it looks a right mess when they've done, and they don't look like they're right bothered about doing a good job either tbh .
We live opposite the cemetary & it used to get cut every other week with the hedges being done probably once a month .Can't remember the last time that the hedges were done & it must be a month or so since the grass was cut - looks a mess nowerdays .I know the councils got to make cuts , but it's bad to let it go like they do .

| Big win for the Spartans U13's this morning, against an understrength Fev Lions side. It ended up 56-14 to us, but Fev never gave up and played the game in terrific spirit - they were a credit to their club and parents.
The most pleasing aspect of the game for me, was that we gave 2 lads who are new to RL their debut's, one of whom scored an 80m try on his second touch of the ball; chuffed to bits for t'lad!

| difficult game for Stanley Rangers today but came well on top beating East Leeds 34-4 who for the want of not trying spoiling tactics
shame they don't just play the game as they will become a decent side if they tried

| Shaw Cross Under 10s fell at the last play the ball to Cas Panthers in a game that looked all the way a Draw .
A Very Excited Cas Team Piled on the try scorer as broken hearted Cross Learned It ain't over till that whilst Goes .
1 off the best 10s games Iv seen for a long long time .
Crigg 12s ...
Demolished Stanley 60-0 in a[u League[/u match. Pretty much half predictable which is very sad of a team full of talented players across the field . Another chance to just practice out things with players and test new players out putting new players at the ball etc .
I hear a few tales of what happened here and there and i shrug my shoulders and just wish that Stanley the very best of luck in their endeavours next year . My lad is a very happy All black ranger today and just classes this as 2 points towards the Money can't buy "Grand Slam" .
Next week the Streak is under real threat LOCK LANE , GOOD LUCK CRIGG BE THINKING OF YOU!

| Cas Panthers u 12's travel to Oulton tonight with a threadbare squad, only 12/13 fit/available players. Think it's a great decision to play the game as it gives some 'fringe' players a great opportunity to show what they can do. And maybe gives some other lads more game time than they would normally get, also a no loose situation for the coaches as expectations will be lower due to squad availability. All teams suffers injuries etc, so need other players to be able to step up - ateotd it's not superleague - it's just a good opportunity for some of the boys

We can fully empathise, having 6 lads with broken bones in the last 3 months our first venture into division 1 has been made all the more challenging. Some are coming back but a fair way from fitness. Playing our first game at home in 8 matches tonight (at home now for the rest of the season!) we look forward to regrouping and working towards some consistency.

| On Saturday Eastmoor Dragons Under 12’s drew 20 all away at Hunslet Warriors in a game in which both teams had opportunities to win. The Warriors started the brighter with the Dragons finishing the stronger to level matters. There was plenty of entertaining rugby on show with both sides driving the ball in strong and putting the ball through the hands well with the draw being a fair result.
The game was marred by a serious wrist break for the Dragons centre who now joins the ever increasing injury list.
As with other teams we are now down to 13 players so will need to put in a big effort to beat Newsome Panthers at home on Saturday (kick off 11.00)
Any lad in school year 7 (under 12’s) wishing to try rugby league for the first time or wants to get back into the game is always welcome to attend training sessions on Tuesday & Thursday at 6.30 – the more the merrier!!

| last nights u12s game finished oulton 26 panthers 18.
fantastic performance from oulton and fully deserved the win,for us well the injury list just gets longer to the point where we now only have 10 fit players out of a squad of 18 which meens we have reluctantly had to forefit the game against stanningley on saturday with no players expected to return anytime soon.
take nothing away from oulton they are a much better team now they are over there own injury problems and will be more than a match for a lot of teams with there new and returning players.good thing for us at times like these you find out a lot more about players and i thought 3-4 stood up really well in difficult circumstances.
