i know that i won't get my money back but is there anything like %age discounts or reduced price tickets? or is it just a gift to the club? i intended to do it in my 2 kids names but most of what i have read is only applicable to single donations.

The share issue is going to fail, the numbers suggest that, and I am coming round to the view that it would be the best thing. The share issue is intended to save the current limited company. I am not convinced that the failure will cost the club, however, because it would be possible for another limited company to be formed to buy the club out of administration, paying a fraction of the debt and starting on a much sounder footing.

In the League Express it states that the current owners of the Crusaders paid just £16k for the club.

They had owed the RFL £700k, HMRC £440k and the pension fund £425k.

There figures alone show how liberating administration could be if the club comes out lie other end.

Would that mean the previous potential investors would re-appear if that was the case or are they totally gone?

Clubs going into administration, getting rid of much of their debt and starting again get a huge huge unfair advantage over those who have sought to live within their means. That was why I so detest what happened with Harlequins, and the same with Crusaders.

Yep they will and we've given the RFL the excuse they need to dump someone and replace them with Widnes, of course they could have dumped Crusaders but we all knew that would not happen.

Still we have to face that and move on.

I wouldn't disagree, however HMRC have forced the issue and there isn't any other option. There just isn't the money, and with the image rights lurking round the corner a whole host of clubs may have no other option.

I just typed a long reply laying down the law on the RFL and everyone else who's to blame for our plight and the power went off

so i've ditched that idea.

So i've decided that the only way forward is from the bottom up, dust ourselves down and carry on, forget whats happened (learn from it maybe) and move forward.

Where is the sense in letting clubs operate like this, surely one of the reasons for this whole ridiculous franchise farce, was to make the clubs sounder.
But by removing the admin clause, and letting the crusaders do it, why not, it's parity!
With the looming image rights issues, it could well lead to many clubs, currently sailing close to the wind, in a similar position.

It could happen in this case. 3 directors of WTRLFC are also directors of a Company which appears not to be trading. The Company was incorporated Mid October 2009 - Just before the first Winding Up Order

I wonder whether the tax man has a few more tricks up his sleeve before the franchise decision.

I don't know much about tax law, but I know that the argument is about rugby league being treated in a discriminatory fashion in comparison to rugby union. However, looking at it in a pure business sense, the taxman is a creditor, and I would have thought that it would be entirely up to him how he wanted his debts settling. The courts will look at it in a purely creditor-debtor context, not in a "that's not fair" context, I would imagine. If so, other clubs might face similar problems to ours.

Cas will be able to pay the taxman, because they have just raised a shed-load of cash, but every quid they would pay, the gap would grow between what they have and what they need, thus making the stadium harder to achieve, and therefore weakening their application.

In 4 weeks, we have gone from a bright future to ruin. It could happen elsewhere. And come 1st February, with maybe a new investor picking up the club for peanuts, and looking to spend the million or so it would have cost to clear the club of debts on things like players and ticketing initiatives, we might be going onto the turf at Cardiff with a spring in our step.

Although all of that does make it sound like I still believe in Santa.

With respect to 'administration' and WT failing at the next franchise application, I seem to recall (I think) something about a vote or a directive regarding SL clubs not being 'blackmarked' at the application if a club entered administration ie entering administration would not affect the application. Perhaps I have dreamt this or it's just the voices in my head.


Can anyone confirm or otherwise this point - not the voices in my head bit!

People don't make millions by making bad business deals, and so why take on a club saddled with debt when he needed to just wait a few weeks and get it for next to nothing.
