| Quote ="kinleycat"It feels to me as if the council monkeys have the perfect excuse in the government cuts inplace to shaft us on Newmarket, and force a move to glasshoughton.
There recent track record for wasting cash in cas and the popularity of the excape/Freeport site suggests to me this is clearly the favoured site the wmdc.
I just hope that we don't really need them, and we can continue without there direct/indirect £2m.
Perhaps a statement from York court/Rodders regarding how we move forward in light of the councils statement, would give us a clearer view of where we are and more importantly how we move forward.
If the development is only going to be slowed down, and this is supported by the developer, then the club should state clearly our intention to groundshare short term.
[uAt oakwell, if this is made clear, I cannot see our franchise being turned down as we will have ticked the boxs re stadia standards, and we also have the ground continuing in the, hopefully very short term background.
We then do not have to support the glasshoughton project, or the proposed castleford groundshare there, as they seem keen to at the moment.
Where that them leaves them[/u??????'"
If we fail to get a verdict in favour of Newmarket then i feel this is the line the club and Swag will take.

If we have a fall back at oakwell (please someone confirm we have!!!!) then there is no need for us to support glasshoughton.
Fully, I really cannot see anyone at the club voting for it, so I think you may well be in it on your own, but the clocks ticks ever quicker, you may need to think about a plan b also?

Good post, and IMO a real option.
If we don't agree to Glasshoughton then politically it would be very difficult even for a devious sod like Box to dump Trinity and push Glasshoughton. We are as entitled to backing as much as Cas. Oakwell is a short term option IMHO (no actual idea of cost etc) that would easily buy us another franchise whilst we continue with the Newmarket scheme. Could Cas pull the same rabbit out of the hat? Check the games by laws, they can't.
NOTE: I have no idea if this is happening, just following Kinsleys logic.

And as a side note, have you asked Barnsley about this yet? Do they get a say in it.

| Would Barnsley want you there? Also, would the RFL see this is a quick attempt to exploit another franchise and disallow it. I feel pushing that option would be futile.

Won't wash at franchise, you are kidding yourself IMHO. With that logic you could say BV is phased! You like us promised SL a SL standard stadium by 2012. You will not have one whilst Widnes have and if we moved to Oakwell we would. Work it out, your plan won't work.
Again I'm just following Kinsleys logic.

| We got away with using Oakwell last time, i can not see it working again.
Would Barnsley allow it?
Would the RFL allow it?
Would the Wakey fans travel in numbers to make the venture viable?

Having said that Im sure the RFL will go for it as long as you call yourselves Barnsley Bears. Cos I do not think they will buy a Wakefield franchise playing in Barnsley. And like I said before Im not sure your business plan would stack up and that is more important in any franchise application.

Good luck with it and thats something i've said all along, i have no axe to grind with the Cas club.
I can't see that happening Fully, time will tell but i very much doubt it.

| For me this seems to be going only one way at the moment and thats ground share followed soon by a merger between the 2 clubs. I cant honestly see the point in all the bickering between us and cas fans anymore - after 27 pages no-one is getting anywhere and all people have is rumours and bull.
Anyway,
If we were to merge I dont think I could personally feel passionate about a team that didnt have wakefield in it. cas fans will say the same the other way round. Im 50/50 whether I could support a merged team with a name that didnt have either cas or wakey in it. I think I would go watch but dont think I would feel the same if it wasnt wakey.
I do feel however WMDC should build a stadium for the city of wakefield and the people of wakefield. Again going back to an earlier post what other leisure facilities does wakefield have apart from lightwaves and thornes park?? Its a sad state of affairs for generations to come if a stadium in wakefield wasnt built regardless of whether glasshoughton gets the go-ahead or not. There is a bigger picture here not just for rugby but for everyone in wakefield to have a facility to be proud of and for future generations to use. This alone will surely have big implications on the councils review.
Time will only tell but im past the stage of getting angry and pi**ed off now.

not for a full season we didnt, dead in the water idea, we dont survive financially at belle vue ffs! what sort of team would you get if we also had to pay ground rent, lost drinks income, etc etc.
oh and at present there are no wakey fans in numbers, and i need cheering up!

Yes to both!!!
Can't see what the rfl could do about it, half of SL clubs are tennants and even in Newmarket we would be.
Ok it's not in the immediate area, but if it was only while we are progressing with Newmarket then at least we are seeking to improve our situation, which is at least a sign of possitivity, i think?!

Yes Trinity would lose supporters, as they would at GH. However, at Oakwell there is a possibility of picking up new support from the local area where as this is very unlikely in Cas.
Also there would be the added benefit of returning back to Wakefield to Newmarket which again would not be an option should Trinity move to GH.

Also i'm guessing they're ok with Saints playing at Widnes so there is no reason why they would blocks that option if it was ever proposed.

dont think the rl is the issue for us and oakwell, i just dont think we could sustain a viable team there with the support we have, saints are a different bigger club, who win games in style occasionally!
last time we were at oakwell Ray Price and Brian Jackson were here that season the aussies played at bv we could afford to play a few dead fixtures and one of those was sheffield if i remember rightly, and i do cos pricey flattened aston at half time!

Sorry the truth has hurt. None of you wanted to listen a couple of weeks ago when sir rod made it clear in the WE that a ground share was the only option. No I was reading between the lines and coming up with what I wanted to fit my own agenda. Well now do you believe me? People on here have been deluded, selfish, and arrogant all along with regards Newmarket, you have concentrated on venting your spleen at the Nimbys as you put it. Probably just good honest people who do not want a warehouses the size of 11 rugby pitches in their rural back gardens and have the right under certain planning terms to object, as would any of us.
TRB and his crowed are the ones who have led you on whilst giving you no firm facts, leaving you all to believe that funding was in the bag and that York court would be footing the bill. You lot on here have gone along like sheep and never questioned the scheme to come up with your own conclusions as to weather you were being told all the facts.
You accept answers to problems to questions about flooding etc, like its all sorted in the planning, when in reality anything in York courts planning proposals at this stage are just that, and not sorted until planning is consent is actually given.
Time to stop trusting the word of the anointed few and form your own opinions and challenge the appropriate, people.( WTWC WTCT council Yorkcourt)
=#FF0000Here is an example has anybody asked who is paying Sir Rod and How much That would be a question I would want answering if my future were at stake.
Ps I will admit to resorting to being childish with the pictures etc, that was born out of the frustration of none of you seeing what was in front of your eyes.
