Think we got to released 8 or 9 of these players ,to make us a good championship team .Might have to wait a season

Over the last few year we have S L players that could get into any S L team Think now a few of our best players are squad players at the best

Exactly this, those who were able to get into any other SL squad over the past few years now are in other squads, and we're left with a starting lineup of players who would spend most of their time out on dual reg in most other clubs

I'm not saying this season was predictable, but it has been pretty obvious from the start that it was only heading in one direction

Money certainly doesnt guarantee success, but the gradual scrimping on the squad for about 4 seasons has come to this.

Correct. we have got two players and maybe a couple of others who have contracts for next season irrespective of the league. They are Gale and Lino. I also think Griffin may have a similar deal. Good news is ,we can finally ditch Lineham.

It's hard because everyone wants what they think is best for the club - but I've taken some serious abuse from many posters on here this season for something which has been plainly obvious to all but the most rose tinted fans

Anyway - I've seen some people say that at least we'll have the best stadium in the championship, so here's a list of stadiums I think might be better than ours at present.

Widnes
York
Halifax
London
Toulouse

To be fair it's a relief it's more or less confirmed and, subject to a take over and Applegarth being ditched I will be looking forward to next year, and hopefully a few more wins.

I've been to watch quite a bit of championship rugby this season - a few more wins might be pushing it. It's generally a good standard, especially for the top half teams, and I'm not convinced that our current squad are much more than a mid table championship team, and that's without losing players

If the ellis deal doesnt go through i wouldnt be confident of too many wins

I won’t join in with or add credence to the already spouting vitriol and finger pointing… having been a fan for half a century an a player/ coach for nearly 30 years in that time… I can only reflect that sport is like this… win lose… highs lows… endings and new beginnings.

Of the current Superleague make up I can only remember Saints, Leeds and Warrington not playing in a lower division during my time as a fan…

There are times during the past 25 years that I have been convinced that we were going to be relegated (several times) … this time it’s happened!

You know I think I’m actually looking forward to next season…and seeing what happens…

Would it though? We would be in the same boat again with same coach, same contracted players and no decent players still available therefore probably ending up in the same position as last two seasons. On league position that's only 0.1111 IMG points above the Championship winners.
It's become death by a thousand cuts so maybe relegation will be a reset or a quick and merciful death.

I think those who think this will be nothing but a one year hiatus and we’ll breeze back in are in for a rather large shock. You might just find there is an awful lot of teams with very similar points come this time next year and we will be very much in the the middle of these.

100 percent agree with you , am sure Bradford , Halifax and Widnes all said the same thing , last few years have been painful to watch but sadly unless we get an owner with deep pockets can’t see a way back. Realistically on a thread bare squad last season we lost 635k and we had the second lowest loss of any club ! Reality is clubs can’t make a profit as it stands - reduced tv money is only going to exacerbate this

Can’t we leave the doom and gloom for 2024 start of season instead of starting now. Just pure speculation and negativity and we haven’t even finished this season.

I hope we get a respite from the doom for at least a few months.

I certainly never said or indeed think it will be easy, just at a level we are more likely to compete at with a few more wins perhaps. We have been teetering for the last five seasons and this the one when we are finally flushed. Baring 10 games or so, it's been awful to slowly watch the club you support get worse year on year. Like I said it's all subject to the takeover. Fresh start, fresh outlook, fresh coach. It might make match days enjoyable again.

Well I have woke up this morning and the aroma of coffee is in my nostrils. I obviously don't live in your world because the way I say things, this season is over. I realise we now have to go through the motions of playing two meaningless games but that is it for me.
Just waiting to see what pans out now and hopefully Matt Ellis takes over pretty quick. He has so much to do to rebuild the car crash left by Minards and Carter and in reality very little time to sort it all out before we start our championship campaign .
