Wakefield Express says that we have been in talks with Trevor Thurling (as mentioned in another post) and several other possible Australian signings.

Also says we are looking to offload Southern, which I don't think is any surprise, as it wasn't working. Shame as I think he could have been a very good player considering his first few performances.

Was Motu Tony on our quota as well?

Think our quota/non-fed players are Southern, John, Smith, Aiton & Collis. Lauitiiti, Mellars & Tony were all off quota. Agar's quoted as hoping to bring 'two or three' of his overseas targets in. I guess we are trying to shift John as well as I can't see the other three going anywhere unless for some reason Collis is going.

Personally have not seen one I think is ready but only seen a handful of games, but it is notoriously hard to tell at that age as you know. I am talking out and out prop here rather than a big lad like say Walshaw who I'm lead to believe is a S/R.

Without wanting to be too pesumptious I would guess he is talking about Tom Lillycrop.
He has done well whenever I've seen him and won a couple of the end-of-season awards for the under-20's I think.

However as we all know it's a big step up to play prop at SL level and whether he is ready for that soon is a big ask.

Don't want to rush a young prop in too early- Tom Lilycrop is a great prospect, but we don't want to ruin him by pushing him too early.

Agar seems to be searching quite hard for a new prop, hopefully someone who can improve our pack!

I do not think you will be looking for a cover signing or a 4th choice Prop. I think Agar will have identified the fact that you need someone who offers something a little different to what you have as all 4 front line Props are at the moment very similar.

Agar has a great track record of signing quality overseas players - hopefully he can pull another one out of the bag and get that elusive 8 foot, 26 stone prop we've been waiting for.

Trevor Thurling is a 28 yr old, 6 ft and 16 stone prop or second row. Don't know much about him or what his strengths are but he is NRL standard from Canberra. He seems from a similar mould to Steve Southern. Has a young family so we may be better recruiting those that want to live in UK or who are already here? From press releases think Issac John and Steve Southern will not be returning to WTW for next season.

I'd be disappointed if true not sure if he's what we need. Hope we hang onto John too, watched our season highlights the other day and reminded me he made some great plays. Pass out to charlie near begining of the season was mirror of smith pass that everyone raves about. If he'd brought his kicking boots would we have signed Sykes?

I heard at Headingley that Isaac John has been offered to Salford as a replacement for Holdsworth. Anyone heard the same?

Thurlings primarily a second row who can play prop isn't he? Pretty much a mirror image of Southern and not what we need imho!

The fact is that a fully fit Isaac John has played in the reserves all season because he is not as good/does not compliment the class of Tim Smith.

I doubt that John would be granted a work visa to move to any other
as he will not have played in enough games this season.

Has the ship completely sailed on John? Thought he showed some glimpses of being quality- is it unreasonable to think he could be tried back in the squad and sykes moved to the centres?

Sykes is a better 6 than John imo, who was not nearly as sharp a player as what we were told at the start of the year. Perhaps even Wood and wildie are better options at 6?
